it's supposed to be the game of the year, it was alright fun and an absolutely piss easy platinum in like 15 hours. There are tons of games that should be put above ratchet and clank this year, like literally all those games on that list And I'm a huge insomniac fan. It was complete cutty cutter ratchet and clank, it didn't do anything new over previous entries. I would rather play crack in time with the stolen Mario galaxy 3d planet levels.
no hitman 3, no returnal, no yakuza 7 (ps5 launch) no forza. I mean, what is this lol.

Well I think Deathloop is a borefest. I haven't played Metroid and Psychonauts 2. I enjoyed all of RE Village, It Takes Two and Ratchet. I voted Ratchet out of protest for Returnal not being nominated. Which is my true GOTY, by far.

It's a great game, it looks good and for sure I had fun with it, but GOTY? I mean, it would be the weakest GOTY of recent years. I suppose it's an example of the sad actual state of the videogame industry if there is no better contenders.

Dragon Age Inquisition. That was the game. My bad for thinking it was Shadow of Mordor. I just remember the game being pretty bad in comparison.

I enjoyed Ratchet and Clank alot, I enjoyed Returnal just as much though. I'd say my GOTY is probably It Takes 2 solely because my gf and I went through it together and made it more memorable. Either way Insomniac Games deserves the recognition they've been kicking ass for years. They deserve all the praise in the world

So you didn't enjoy dread, psychonauts 2 or RE village over ratchet?
I found re village to be so good I completed it like 6 times in A row and I still think Dread and it takes two we're better. I would never vote for ratchet over those other games but each to their own.

I finished Village twice, but it has a lot of flaws compared to 7 and both remakes. I played the Dread demo btw (forgot about that), but that felt like an iPhone game to me.
Ratchet blew me away graphically and technically, so yeah.

Among those on the list it makes sense. It only lacked the emotional punch of Pixar movies to an otherwise a great game.
Psychonauts 2 and It takes two have better storytelling, Dredd has better flow and Deathloop has better ideas but they are not well rounded like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. This may end up being fluke though, they may still give it to Deathloop.

3 platformers, a 2d metroidvania.
Loving it.
Ratchet and Clank winning would be ridiculous though.
But looking at IGN 's Best game of all time winner, I think we know who to blame. Brand loyalty runs deep in certain section of gamers.

But not a classic. 5 years from today people get a chuckle out of it winning a GOTY. Its a safe game and isn't even best Ratchet game.
Its weakest contender IMO. I would like Returnal get some recognition instead for being fresh and innovative.

Perhaps it would've made a difference if MS/Double Fine actually cared a little more about the PS5 version instead of offering PS5 players just the PS4 BC version. I might have bought it then. I didn't bother now. I'll with for it to get dirt cheap.

Nah... if the Sony boys want a win, why not Returnal? Deserves the award much more. The consensus around Ratchet is that it looks great but plays like every Ratchet ever.

i got it for £25, would i have paid more? prob not as im not a massive platformer type gamer but by fuck its a looker, its as solid a package as you could get, looks incredible plays smoothly but GOTY? maybe on technical merits yes but i thought there where others out that maybe pushed the envelope a bit more
