I mean, if it were par for the course it wouldn't have been something as noticeable compared to their other games, and their other games don't have as many, otherwise games like Miles Morales would have more uploaded.

Just seems like it has a few more than previous Insomniac games, compared to a lot of other devs it's still pretty low overall.

There are still glitches in the game and postings of them as recent as two days ago. It's good they patched the bigger ones shortly after release but it's not typical of Insomniac games to come out with glitches like those, not the way Rift Apart did.

But not a classic. 5 years from today people get a chuckle out of it winning a GOTY. Its a safe game and isn't even best Ratchet game.

Its weakest contender IMO. I would like Returnal get some recognition instead for being fresh and innovative.

Relax man, what rules are you talking about? Most gamers voted for R&C. it's a simple poll like the ones we have here in some threads. Or maybe you're crying about Forza not being there, well Returnal wasn't nominated either.

if you think that Xbox gamers, PC or Nintendo gamers voted for a PlayStation exclusive,...a game that there are high change that they have never even been able to play...you are very very very very VERY naive. the rules incentive the bigger usebase that's it. For this reason the whole award is at best a utter crap.

It's a great game, it looks good and for sure I had fun with it, but GOTY? I mean, it would be the weakest GOTY of recent years. I suppose it's an example of the sad actual state of the videogame industry if there is no better contenders.

Checking the list, no one of the nominees deserve a GOTY. What an awful year for gaming : (

Sad state of video games? There's a 2D Metroid on the list and Psychonauts 2. It would be more sad if these didn't exist at all!

Metroid Dread joining Half Life: Alyx in the pantheon of games which got robbed of their GOTY title because of brand loyalty.

And yes I'm still mad about last year.

Honestly, screw these awards.
90% by a jury of people who'll vote based on how nice publishers have been to them in the past, what game-unrelated categories they might fulfill or what game allows them to push any personal agendas best.
I cannot imagine them giving away awards based only on the actual games themselves.

Public jury part is still interesting, of course, but even that is mostly just a "which game had the most players", isn't it?
Or do they have a more refined way of interpreting votes (e.g. like RPGCodex does with weighting the number of votes for a game as well as the ratings given)?
