The 2013 Formula 1 Pre-Season Thread |OT| Plenty of Time Left in the Silly Season

He's rumoured now to be replacing Razia at Marussia.

Would make sense. Razia's money is drying up and Marussia could well be looking for a good 2014 engine deal. They'd need it more than Force India and Ferrari are set to lose Toro Rosso the way things appear so far.

But would he want to drive for Marussia ? (in fact who would want to drive for Marussia/Caterham :p ?)
Kind of a letdown compared to Force India, it would be better for him to sign a contract with Force India for 2014 and be their reserved driver again this season.

Seems like it's pretty much confirmed.
Saw this article on GP Today.
Sutil gets nod over Bianchi - agent
Force India has chosen Adrian Sutil as one of its main drivers for the new Formula One season over Jules Bianchi, the French rookie's agent told AFP on Wednesday, signalling a return for the German after a 12-month absence.
Nicolas Todt, whose father Jean is the head of world motorsport's governing body the FIA, confirmed the appointment but said he did not know whether British-based Force India would retain Bianchi as a reserve in 2013.

Not sure how I feel about that, on one hand he felt like a decent driver : not too passive, not too aggressive; but with this criminal record... eh.

Meh.

The only positive is that now di Resta has nowhere to hide. He has to beat Sutil, because if he's matched or beaten by him, then he's toasted. No excuses, no BBC lying to make him look better than he is (like when Jake Humphrey said if di Resta hadn't have string of bad races after Singapore, then he would have real shot at McLaren seat - which is complete BS as Lewis' departure and Checo's arrival were confirmed right after Singapore GP), absolutely nothing will save his ass if Sutil would match, or even worse, beat him.

Fuck Force India.

The BBC have today officially confirmed in their Season Preview magazine the rest of their 2013 Formula One line-up, with the line-up as expected. In the commentary box, for the second year running, Ben Edwards remains alongside David Coulthard.

As part of the presentation team alongside Suzi Perry (who was announced as presenter in December) will be Eddie Jordan and Coulthard, both now heading into their fifth season as part of the BBC F1 team. Lee McKenzie and Gary Anderson will again be in the paddock and roaming up and down pit-lane.

The BBC are to screen practice sessions on BBC Two for their live races in 2013, it has been confirmed. The BBC F1 Season Preview magazine notes:

In addition to all the coverage on BBC1, for the first time BBC2 will be covering all the practice sessions of the BBC live races. This will mean an extra 4 hours’ coverage per race for the fans and the most comprehensive coverage we have ever offered. We will have unprecedented access and opportunities to go behind the scenes as the drivers and teams prepare their cars for the weekend.

Champion
in reverse order!

He'd be a golf champion for sure!

Come to think of it, I'm sure Force India offered him a Vettel/Alonso-sized salary but he turned it down to pursue his dreams of joining the PGA Tour.

Even at a golf kart race the other golfers will get upset at Kayan for holding up traffic

Bianchi no doubt has the upper hand unless Kovalainen has decided to find a sponsor.

Sky Sports F1 is live with testing coverage. Anyone watching in 3D?

Anyone watching the Sky F1 practice session in 3D? How is it?

The 3D worked a lot better than I expected. Really good for seeing the shape of the road, the slopes, hills, undulations etc.

The close up, slow motion shots of the cars were amazing!

I hope this becomes a thing, I wouldn't mind watching f1 like this most weeks.

It's nice to have Montagny back, he was rather good for the few races he was with TF1, for Villeneuve I really don't know what the guy is worth as a commentator.
Otherwise it's Moncet again and, I assume, the daughter of Jacques Laffite ?
Don't have a single clue about who Julien Febreau and Thomas Thouroude are.

Too bad i'll never see that.
