New rankings:

1. Nadal
2. Djokovic

3. Wawrinka
4. Del Potro

5. Ferrer
6. Murray
7. Berdych
8. Federer

this is fucking surreal. i still can't believe what happened.

I went to every match he played in Switzerland and I've talked to him quite a few times, my friend once worked for him and now that guy is a GS winner.

Then that means Del Potro shouldn't be #4 in the world.

Del Potro has lots of points stored up from 250s and 500s, and he didn't do very well here last year anyway, so while he lost points, he lost less points than Murray and Ferrer.

Fed has a massive lead over #9. He is safe rankings-wise, and he's the fourth best player at the moment (looking at WTF and AO).

But what a night for Wawrinka. He's worked all his life for this moment.

Fed had basically nothing to defend the rest of the year though. He should start to move back up if he keeps making semis and gets a few 1k titles.

I hate to bring this up, but:

.

You should revel in it. So disrespectful to how well Stan has performed to see it as a foregone conclusion. His game has improved so much, and he's had such an incredible tournament that he was never going to not turn up in this match. He didn't just turn up in that first set, he suppressed Nadal and tamed him. I love Nadal, but this sort of arrogance usually backfires in hilarious ways.

Congrats to Stan , well deserved!
Now i'm gonna check the thread to see how many of you said that Nadal was faking injury.

There were only 1 or 2 guys that claimed that after they saw him come back from the MTO. Most us us that were apprehensive about the MTO at first immediately acknowledged something was wrong after seeing him back.

Congrats! Must be nice having world class tennis players coming from your country. Hopefully Milos or Eugenie can pull through soon and we can have a champion of our own.

Hopefully it will not stop for us as well.

With Belinda Bencic we have another hopeful, she already has won the Junior Tournament in Wimbledon and Paris. Maybe she will continue the Swiss tennis history.

What a great result! I can't believe that we have new GS champion! And it is Wawrinka too! Can't think of a more deserving player! Taking out the world's number 1 + 2 isn't an easy task.

The AO is more a source of heartbreak for Nadal, rather than success.

Federer being at number 8 is a disgrace to be honest. Strange how these rankings work, not a fan of the current system.

Not really, he had a poor 2013. He's all about the slams these days. Now, more than ever, the masters tournaments and the 500/250's are just prep for the slams. He doesn't really care too much about winning them.
