3 run homer on a 0-2 count... this guy is a stud. Really, why do they let him play? They should hide his glove or, better yet, put menthol rub in his jock strap.

fucking pitching. i gotta blame torre a LITTLE bit though, i think his leash on halsey was a little too short.

did you see matsui's expression the second the ball landed on the grass behind the fence? it was like he was saying "FUCK! we gotta do this...AGAIN??"

For fuck's sake, get that assclown Sturtze out of there. Halsey probably could have gotten out of the inning with less damage done.

Edit: OMFG, this shit just keeps on going. Now it's 9-3.

That's really saying something about the pitching staff when they're so willing to let this ass pitch. His name's Tanyon for fuck's sake. What is a Tanyon? Did his parents want a Tanya and get thrown off by the existence of a penis at child birth?

Oh shit.. he's from Mass. It all makes sense now...

Why is he still in? 9 -3...

:lol Good lord, this game is going to get ugly.

Prinz with a walk to load the bases, then throws a wild pitch. Now it's 10-3. Fucking "22-0" all over again.

they have one just like that with football that is really cool

there's a card reader. offense picks a players card/play and swipes it, defense picks a player/play and swipes it. swiper generates the play based on the stats of the two players and the plays called.

I bet Tanyon is glad this game was in KC or he might have heard a little from the fans.

Maddux pitches 7 shutout innings as the Cubs win 7-2. Posting his picture in this thread must have been karma for him. Sosa, batting 6th, homers and goes 1-4. All around a very good game for the Cubs.

Did you guys hear about the Baseball MMORPG? I saw it a couple months ago, looked a little dated if you know what I mean. The idea of it sounded pretty cool. Basically, everyone is supposed to pick a position and they stay at that position throughout the game.

I don't remember the specifics about it. It just sounded like a neat idea at the time.

OAKLAND -- Monday night's Rangers-A's game was delayed for almost 20 minutes after a verbal confrontation between Rangers relievers and A's fans escalated into a fracas alongside the visitors' bullpen at Network Associates Coliseum.

During the bizarre incident, which took place in the top of the ninth inning, reliever Frank Francisco appeared to hoist a folding chair into the stands.

According to A's vice president of stadium operations David Rinetti, the chair struck a woman, who suffered a broken nose and lacerations to her face. Rinetti said the Oakland Police Department is investigating the incident.

After the 7-6 victory for Oakland, Rangers manager Buck Showalter said taunting from the fans was ongoing throughout the game and that he had requested additional security on more than one occasion during the game.

"They've got a few people out there, a lot more than a few, with some pretty angry faces, for whatever reason, before the incident," Showalter said.

No players were ejected from the game, and no fans were arrested. Showalter said reliever Carlos Almanzar wasn't able to return to the mound for another inning after suffering an asthma attack following the incident.

The Rangers' manager said players are accustomed to jeers from the stands, but this particular night was different.

"You get to a point like tonight where obviously it's a break from the normal trash that you hear from the fans. ... Tonight went way over the line," Showalter said.

Rinetti gave the following account from the information he had gathered from the scene and his security personnel: "My understanding was that the fans sitting near the Rangers bullpen had a discussion for most of the night with the bullpen. Nothing was thrown from the stands, none of our fans went out on the field. Nobody was saying anything that a fan could be thrown out of the game for. About the time of [Alfonso] Soriano's home run, something was said and [the Rangers relievers] went after the fans."

Just after Soriano hit a solo homer to tie the game at 5 with one out in the top of the ninth, the incident reached a volatile level. Rangers reliever Doug Brocail appeared to be engaged in a heated verbal exchange with a fan in the front section of seats located near the visitors' bullpen.

While teammates emerged from the dugout and the bullpen to protect Brocail, a scuffle at the edge of the stands broke out.

The game was delayed for 19 minutes while the teams, the umpiring crew of crew chief Joe Brinkman and the Coliseum security staff discussed how to proceed. Public address announcer Roy Steele issued the following warning during the delay: "If any fan goes on the field at any time, the A's will forfeit the ballgame."

Brinkman confirmed that during the delay, one of the resolutions being discussed was forfeiting the game to the Rangers.

"We had mentioned [a forfeit], but we thought about it and felt it probably wasn't a good idea," Brinkman said.

The Rangers did not return their entire relief corps to the visitors' bullpen for the remainder of the game. When lefty Bryan Shouse came out to warm up for the bottom of the ninth, he was given as much time as he needed while pitching coach Orel Hershiser watched over from behind the mound. Francisco Cordero, meanwhile, got a few tosses in from the bullpen before issuing three walks in the 10th for his fourth blown save in 48 chances this season.

"It's unfortunate, and it's not the first time it's happened here," said Showalter, who mentioned the incident last year in which a fan was accused of throwing a cell phone at then-Rangers outfielder Carl Everett. "The security people can only do so much."

Francisco was not available for comment after the game, and Brocail declined interview requests. The Rangers received a police escort to their team bus and their hotel.

I guess that's how you treat your women in Texas. WTF? Verbal abuse = throw a chair into the crowd? Then threaten a forfeit? Geez, I wasn't there (and had the Texas commentary watching it) but come on. If you're going to play professional baseball, taunting is one of the things you'll have to deal with, sweethearts.

It's a shame that incident had to overshadow an otherwise awesome game. Good damn that was some good baseball. A shame the Rangers lost it, damn walks and balks.

As a rookie, I hope Francisco only gets suspended the rest of the season. That would suck if he was out for all of '05, possibly fucking up his career. Ahh well, he gets what he deserves I guess.

BTW, why the hell does Texas always get into shit like this in Oakland. Anywhere else, we are the calmest/laid back teams as far as attitude goes. Just the other day at a Ranger game, a friend and I were arguing over which Ranger would be most likely to charge the mound upon being hit by a baseball, and we couldn't really decide on any because they're all so level-headed. Now I know why... he was in the bullpen.

The fan in the stands isn't completely without fault either, mind. If you've ever been to the 'net, you know that some of the A's fans are the same drunk bastards that go to Raiders games. Don't sit in the bleachers with a Jeter jersey or face the consequences. But still, throwing a chair and hitting an innocent woman in the face is ridiculous. My mom and sisters go to baseball games, if it had been one of them and I had been there, I probably would have jumped on the guy who threw it. You can be sure my dad (a lawyer) would be suing someone's ass off too :p

Totally unacceptable. I get madder every time I think about it.

if the guy can't take fans heckling, he should find a new line of work. There's no excuse for blindly tossing a chair into a group of fans, no matter what they say. Hell, if you want, deck the guy thats talking shit (still not right) but throwing a chair, that shit could have hit a little kid in the head or something and caused some serious damage.

no fucking joke. the fans have a right to heckle. if you have to throw a chair in the crowd, get the fuck outta the big leagues. i hope he gets a full year+ suspension. there is no fucking way to even partly justify that. none whatsoever

we know duque's gonna be duque in the post season. if mussina can pitch like he's pitched so far this game and the last it would be huge for the yankees. then if vazquez would just pitch like vazquez they will be in GREAT shape.

Mueller kind of pulled up lame running to first, the guys on NESN haven't said what's wrong with him yet. Scott Kazmir is pitching a shutout into the 7th for the Rays. He looks really good, lots of Ks. Another great move by the Mets to trade him!
