Yeah. I have a 14 year old sister and seeing someone admit their attraction to kids her around age without being ashamed of it is very disturbing and terrifying to be honest.

I can't give sympathy for someone like that. Calling it a fantasy and equating it with guys who go after 18 year olds (as if we don't call those guys creeps too on many occasions).

Very uncomfortable with that. Very.

That's the thing. I've studied it and it's becoming more and more clear that they can do nothing about their orientation, but that doesn't mean that it should be normalized. Like I said in the thread, my sympathy is reserved entirely for those pedophiles who don't predate, and don't jerk it to child porn, real or fictional.

I think the German Prevention Project Dunklefeld is probably the best way to approach it. There's no mandatory report law in Germany, and the project is designed to reach out to pedophiles and get them into treatment. Treatment is important, because it can mean the difference between an active and passive pedophile. There's substantial evidence that suggests once a pedophile crosses the line and acts out that there's little left that can help. The best evidence suggests that reaching pedophiles before they first act out with children can either postpone or remove the likelihood that they will.

There's no way to come out of this discussion without feeling dirty, but it's an important one, because pedophiles not receiving therapy are at a much higher risk for acting out with children. So the very act of frightening pedophiles away from therapy helps produce the societal outcome we don't want, which is more kids suffering.

Here's the thing for me though, you won't be sure who's a predator or not, so as unfair as it might be, there's no reason a person should ever trust a pedophile.

Well, I certainly wouldn't want them around children. That's part and parcel of being a pedophile seeking treatment -- staying away from children. The only functional treatments we've found are basically abstinence/avoidance, and chemical castration (which isn't a certainty).

I would never blame a parent for not wanting a known pedophile anywhere near their child, though.

It is IMO the best show out right now. And it hurts a bit because it touches so close to the black male experience at times. Literally the thing I most look forward to every week in any medium.

I guess I finally gotta go ahead and ask: How have you guys gotten around the racial profiling problem in online dating? Specific services? Usage guide? Yeah this is normally a dating-age problem, but I thought it better to ask here specifically.

I remember there being general tips in earlier posts.

I find the concept of child molestation horrifying. I also find the concept of adding more shit to the shit stack that is the entirety of their ecistance shitty too. I think they know what they gotta live with, they dont need my shame. I dont want them killing themselves or something. I would feel like an asshole

I don't mean to be rude but the answer is don't use online dating. If you do use it however and someone writes you off because of your race then they just proven to you that they aren't shit. you're better off, don't waste your time with someone like that.

I guess not. I'm just not cool with the idea of services that let people base their entire online social circle around those kinds of snap decisions. A lot of this stuff to me sounds like the equivalent of "hot or not" or something.

What exactly is Eponphilia (or however its spelled)? I feel like I never heard of that before being on GAF. Like is it merely attraction or is it more? Like I don't think merely finding a high school cheerleader or football player some degree of attractive is wrong but if you find them attractive to the exclusion of those in your own age class and/or you're seriously interested in pursuing anything with someone of that age range after you have long left it I would consider that super duper "suspect"! Like is Eponphilia only the latter or also the former?

I don't think there really is a way around it. If someone is that deep in their racial biases there's nothing you can put in a profile or a message that will change that; you lost once they saw your profile pic.
