The Die Hard series is dead, right?

The Robocop reboot/remake got me thinking of the last Die Hard movie, which I never saw because it looked terrible. I did, sadly, see Live Free or Die Hard, and avoided that mistake with the newer one. But it got me thinking and I looked up Bruce Willis' IMDB page, and there's nothing about a new Die Hard movie, and then I went to BOM to see budgets and grosses, and A Good Day to Die Hard didn't do well domestically, but I guess it did ok worldwide (for domestics, it's usually 2-2.5x its budget to be in the green; what's it for worldwide releases?).

Anyway, is this series finally done and over? Either way, what would you want in another entry? My bright idea was to have McClane finally old/retired, and he's basically a security guard in a financial building, and they basically remake the first movie with old Bruce Willis. Basically, a "keep it simple, stupid" sequel that avoids the ridiculous bloat of 3, 4, and, I assume, 5.

Why not just do a remake with his son as the main character? Bruce Willis doesn't seem like he enjoys acting anymore.

Live Free or Die Hard is enjoyable, made money, and rated well (if you care about that kind of thing). Good Day to Die Hard seems to exist because the director wanted a long, drawn out car chase in Russia. Bruce gives NO FUCKS while acting it it. The man just doesn't care other than for getting a paycheck in this, another "Die Hard" movie. It put me to sleep because it was completely uninteresting and didn't even make the father/son angle worthy of even being a plot point.

You can only die hard so many times before it's game over and you have to start all over again. Die Hard Reborn starring Zac Efron and Shia Laboofs.

Not until Die Harderest

Oh my god, this is a real thing....

The sixth and possibly the final film in the franchise, and confirmed to be the final film in the series that will have Bruce Willis portraying John McClane. So far, it has been revealed that John McClane will be traveling to Tokyo, courtesy of Nakatomi, to celebrate the thirty year anniversary of the Nakatomi Hostage Crisis in L.A., and there are hints that characters from other films in the series, including Holly Gennero and Al Powell, may make appearances.

My thoughts exactly. Live Free at least had a Die Hard feel. Good Day was a Bad Two Hours.

I have no hopes for Die Hard ever being good again, Bruce Willis just doesn't seem to give a shit anymore.

After the drama with The Expendables 3 (turning down a $3 million salary for just four days of work cause he demanded $1m per day), I lost a lot of respect for him.

DICE making a Die Hard game would be a way of keeping the series going but it's quite apparent nobody at EA is going use the Frostbite engine for that or even make a Hong Kong Heroic Bloodshed one.

I'm guilty of having see the latest one, while McClane was "just on vacation."

Jesus christ, I wish I could deny it existing. And I was forced to watch it before watching Oblivion. I mean, talk about a huge transition from fucking awful to something good. One of the worst action movies I've ever seen.

Yeah I still refuse to watch the newest one. Love Diehard so much (and 3 and 2 are pretty great too, 3 more so than 2) that I don't want 5 ruining the series at all. 4 was actually better than I expected, but I've just heard too many terrible things about 5.

Because Jai Courtney has the on screen charisma of a sack of potatoes, I can't think of a more bland, generic actor. In fact, the only reason I know his name is because someone pointed out to me that he wasn't actually Sam Worthington, how those two actors get work is beyond me.

On the 30th anniversary of the Nakotomi Hostage Crisis, retired New York City Police detective John McClane is invited to Tokyo by the Nakatomi Corporation to be commended for his bravery and efforts in saving 36 lives. Accompanied by Zeus Carver, the pair soon discover a vengeance from the past and that Nakatomi is not all that it appears to be.
Well, I'm ok with this.

they'll eke out at least one more (with bruce willis) i'm sure

the last one was god awful on so many levels. even as a 'turn your brain off' action movie it made no sense

For me it is. Die Hard 5 was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I was just horrible in every way. I can't believe someone in Hollywood actually green lit that shit. So many people with great writing skills are trying to get into the movie and this is all they can get, really?

Bring back Alan Rickman as a zombie and I'll watch it.

Hopefully Bruce will make another drugged up appearance on the One Show before this one as well.
