I guess it only goes down from this point... maybe the early reviews didn't played the game enough.
Low 8s I think. It'll stay at high 8s. The game is a solid 9 in my opinion.
Ive not had a bad time with The Division, that much is true. It is, however, a fine example of why most third-person cover shooters have campaigns that cap out at six or eight hours. Theres just not enough dynamism in hiding behind small walls and popping off rounds at indistinct enemies for the length of time it takes to slog through an RPG.

Huh interesting, you seem to have the exact opposite opinion of everyone else. The popular belief is that the setting's cool, but the actual game part is repetitive and lackluster. This is one of those rare instances where the setting of a game is so off-putting that I've more or less decided to not give it a go despite being otherwise interested in the gameplay and mechanics it seems to offer.
The setup is just dumb. Well beyond the point of being able to suspend disbelief.
After hearing his thoughts earlier this week that's right about where I expected his review to land.

Funny that you say that. I chose this over primal because much as I love far cry, this was something different. I played it all day yesterday with a friend for the first time and it's ok... I am going to play it again today with that same friend and if I still don't like it I think I will trade it in for primal. Primal is on sale for $50 next week at best buy, which is $40 with gcu, so it should be close to a straight up trade if I trade it today and buy it next week.
Thanks for the heads up.
I have not played a Far Cry game since the very first one on PC. So Primal is going to feel VERY fresh to me.
#followthemoneymaybe the early reviews didn't played the game enough.
82-85 is a good game and that is what Division is.Can't wait for the inevitable "this game is actually bad" phase while it quietly stays on a very solid 82-85 Metascore.
LOL. Yeah, skinny jeans are not what I consider to be 'epic loot.'

I can't disagree too much about Jim's critique but I think that Ubi is certainly on to something special here, and I feel that with proper support it could have great legs.
One thing I bet that this game has over Destiny is its toolset. I imagine that Ubi can pump out content a lot quicker than Bungie on that front.
It's a fun game with some addicting content. I hope they continue to improve.
I can attest to that; the wrecked city/lockdown look has been incredibly generic so far.
Also, I have no idea where all this "generic environments" talk is coming from. Game is downright stunning and the art-design is about as good as you could imagine considering it's modeled after a real world city. Just a few quick shots I took:

Right on. I red boxed the game and ultimately decided it wasn't for me, but the environmental design was one thing I had zero complaints about.

Is it up for trade at BB? It doesn't show up on their website when looking up the trade value.
That mall mission was so freaking intense on hard with 3 other people.
I was pretty pumped when I got them. I haven't taken them off since.
I feel like 'generic' is being misappropriated to describe the realistic setting of New York. Many want to see vibrancy or new worlds, not something they see in reality day to day.
Combine that with (though also overblown here in its frequency) the setting of a quarantined/destroyed city.
Funnily enough one of the big complaints I see about The Division is one of my favourite things about it. I like the fact that it's a modern day setting with normal named weapons like M60, P45 and getting new versions of these is just as great to me as getting say the latest space gun or whatever. I don't want every game to be Diablo or Destiny in terms of loot and I'm just happy that as a loot em up it is different from those games. I guess it helps I'm loving the combat, especially the weapon sounds which I think are fantastic and pack plenty of punch. Same with the grenades/seeker mines etc. If I won't more extravagant loot I can always play those instead. Plenty of choice![]()
That is where it gets weird for me on the outside. In a post apoc world setting kind of like we have, there would not be so many actual mil-spec tech at people's disposal, unless they somehow raided government armories.
There would be a plethora of regular citizen models, mostly semi-auto, and not as much 'exotic' like handguns. Does the game contain that? Or is it a lot of Battlefield/CoD armaments?

If the latter, that would make me understand why people feel it is 'generic', because it is basically like any other modern day war shooters as far as kit, rather than capitalizing on what you would actually see in that setting.
You have things like SCARs, AUGs, MP4/MP5, M1911s, M60s, Super 90s, Covert SRS and many others of that ilk.
Basically I saw it as the JTF and the first wave of Division agents are already in the Manhattan before you get to it so I would think there's plenty of milspec weaponary in there already.
EDIT - As Diaspora said basically.
IIRC the national guard and a first wave of Division agents already went in before things became a bigger shitstorm- it'd at least partially explain why they're there.

In a way, it's not as exciting as say a lightning gun that shoots out balls of lightning or whatever but on the otherhand it's a lot more relatable and I think some folks may even prefer that type of weaponary/setting as well. I personally prefer both though I must admit I got bored of Destiny long before TTK came out (didnt even play the expansions, only the base game but got my moneys worth from 50 hours of playtime)
EDIT - As Diaspora said basically.
There's also supply drop missions, so it wouldn't be inconceivable for them to get raided from time to time.
I get the explanations, and of course they will have a story to back it up... but to me personally, it would have more of a perceived believable/original scenario, and 'less like the others' as far as weaponry goes, if you had to scrap your way with run of the mill civilian weaponry, melee weapons, then earn those mil-spec grade as the good good. But then again, the ammo is unlimited, correct? Another sort of flaw, I think, in a post apoc scenario.

It is not a mind blowing 90-100 game IMO.
The good thing is that they only improve it from this good base... better loot, better challenges, better bosses, etc.
