The E3 '08 Sony Prediction and Discussion Thread

I would take the "silence" as a good thing; we know of many projects in development, but it's all been tight lipped.

Last year, up until the wire, Killzone 2 was still up in the air; would it deliver, graphically? And, as it turned out, KZ2 did absolutely deliver. But we hadn't heard ANYTHING for two years since E3 2005.

Absolutely. Sony have their shit secured in a big way. I heard from a friend yesterday that even those with usually 'reliable' sources aren't getting any new info. It would appear that SCE as a whole is in lock down....

...at least until tomorrow. :)

Does anyone expect there to be any major PSP news? I've been thinking about getting one for a while now and Phantasy Star Portable has me ready to pull my debit card out and make a purchase. Maybe they'll finally bring over some of the other colors.

Shane (1up Yours) makes a great point about the PSP's renewed success in Japan perhaps giving it a new lease of life among the Japanses third party developers.

While he speculated on a new Devil May Cry game for the PSP, personally (and as a total guess) I predict that Capcom might have some kind of Resident Evil game to announce for the PSP.

Since the Wii has one and may get another and of course PS360 has RE5 and even the DS got the original, it stands to reason the PSP might get some love.

i don't remember any leaks from last year?
everyone expected psp slim and dualshock3 already.

the only one i think think of, was that Killzone picture.

Well the Killzone picture leak happened right at the same time GG was showing off Killzone 2 to the press at a restaurant near the convention center, and then the entire trailer was on Sony's press site that night.

It was an epic time indeed. Probably one of my favorite E3 moments ever. I must have replayed the KZ2 tailer 100+ times. But no real leaks of KZ2 before that.

I hope they at least have a good conference. I already know too much about the other two's to be excited.

Exactly. But I do think Nintendo might have a few surprises with SE support. FFCC wii might have been cancelled, but SE has been too quiet about the wii. As for sony, to me, they will win this E3 with a new gameplay footage of FFXIII. But that might be too much for SE :( I can't believe those morons as of late.

I have a good feeling about FFXIII being at the show...I dunno. I feel that it's been so long since it's been shown that E3 would be the perfect event, especially with MGS4 out of the way as Sony's big showboat Japanese game.

I kind of have a feeling that they'll show it ala MGS4 like last year... or at least I hope...

hmm do you think this means Sony has some major surprises or is that standard practice for Sony at E3?

Maybe I'm getting my hopes up too much :p

In a word. Yes.

.....at least one big new PS3 game. It's been teased on here by some others including Sam Kennedy. All I know myself is it's for the PS3 and no one knows about it. Hence the scrambling to find out more. But they Sony aren't letting anything slip.

Besides. I think I'd prefer to wait until the conference. Xmas morning thinking and all that.

:)

Same. I love these conferences... not knowing what's going to be revealed.

Thanx for the info.

Eh...I dunno, but it'd be a nice surprise.

Playstation.Blog E3 Schedule

OK, here’s the PS Blog’s plan for E3, tell me what you think (suggestions are welcome): Live Blog the PlayStation Press Conference, show floor updates, previews, Q&As, more developer interviews (including folks from Insomniac Games).

We’ll start off tomorrow with: This week’s PLAYSTATION Store plan (this will answer most of the questions you’ve been asking recently) and a big update on a game we *haven’t* been talking about for a little while.

Below you’ll find the stories we found interesting over the past week. As always, feel free to share your favorite links in the comments below. Comments may take longer than usual to appear - we’re on our way to LA.

Speaking of which, I hope to meet you Tuesday!

Might want to update the first post.:D

Ooo, I wonder what game it is that you *haven’t* talked about much…

For E3, my suggestions are as follows:

-Anything from Insomniac, including footage, interviews, screenshots, etc. I just love hearing from and reading about those guys. I simply can’t get enough.

-PSN titles that we haven’t heard much or anything about. If there are any indy developers there, seeing some of their stuff would be pretty cool.

-Footage and other content related to RPGs.

-God of War III footage and/or news? :D

-Hook up with some people while you’re there to maybe post on the blog some time. Naughty Dog perhaps?

-Enjoy yourself.

Have a good E3, Jeff!

I think this is all do-able. Thanks for the suggestions.

Media Molecule will be in from the UK, so good idea.

So I'm back, saw some very cool stuff and the stage set-up is wicked.

Saw a few games I hadn't seen before... very cool stuff!

How was the Zipper game? Interesting?

Also, I want a epic couple of minutes long Resistance 2 trailer. Time to take the hype to a new level.

New IPs or sequels? A bit of both?

Does Final Fantasy VII look as good as the tech demo?

you really should get banned for all these frivolous teases >:(
did you see Team ICO's game?

That would take the fun out of Tuesday if I told you!

But, I recommend watching the press conference for Ted's portion, good stuff there.

And I saw new games for both systems.
