The E3 '08 Sony Prediction and Discussion Thread

Possible Things Sony Could Do

- FFVII remake come on!!!
- FFXIII on PS3 first? (Well exclusive in Japan might do something)
- Something crazy we havn't seen

There are plenty of things to me Sony could show to make me happy (Team Ico game, GOWIII), but these are not on the same level as FFXIII in the publics eye.

The 360 development won't start until its been localized in English. So maybe a year delay?
 
Well holy crap, Sony done f'ed up beyond belief.

The amount of support MS has garnered for the 360 is incredible this generation across the board, I mean anyone would have been laughed off last generation if they said something anywhere absurd that the Xbox system will be the console to get for JRPG support!
MS has not sat on their laurels at all, they keep getting better and better support.

FFXIII, people, holy crap!
 
Square Presser said that 360 version will start development AFTER Japanese PS3 version is done... So could this mean that PS3 version in NA and Europe before 360 version? Or will the localization take up the time for both?
 
The PS3 is fucked in every way possible. Sony are fucked in every way possible too.

Microsoft have won E3 already. Heh.

They NEED to show God Of War 3, FULL GAMEPLAY.

simply pathetic on Sony's part. they can't even get the game localized first? as much as I'm interested in Sony's other games, FFXIII was the sole reason. Now i have no reason NOT to trade in my PS3 for a 360 so i could enjoy UI/SO4/LR early. Sony better have something big tomorrow that can keep me :lol As in, not something I can look forward to 2 years from now.

why would jp ppl care about the Xbox360 FFXIII deal??? it's not like it's exclusive to 360. PS3 sales is much higher than 360 in Japan. this FFXIII bomb will only affect gamers @ US/Europe.

Sony must have prepared something for tomorrow. but, who knows :lol

Sony is still hard up on Halo 3 numbers that they will pour money into Resistance 2, Killzone 2 and any and all FPS games this gen. You think HAZE was exclusive because ubisoft liked sony?
 
Well, at least there's no real chance Sony's conference can be any worse than what went on today. Even with the FFXIII announcement. Wow.

what? they never said that. its probably already in development. however, the fact that microsoft didnt specifically say that its coming out at the same time as the PS3 makes me think it will have some time in between.

I'd hate to be the guy working on Sony's blog right about now.
 
Sony had better have a STRONG showing tomorrow is they want to stand a chance this generation. They are already in 3rd and were supposed to really show off this year to try and take 2nd... But after the large, varied showing by Microsoft I really don't know if there's any sort of hope for Sony. We'll see.
 
Wow, there is alot of panicking going on. Come on guys its not that serious. Its business, Its competition, and more importantly its money. Thats the way it goes. Now lets see what kind of blows sony can send back. Will be very interesting to see.

It's not like Sony would have showed any better games without the FF1360 announcement.

Still waiting on WKS / GT5 / Ico Sony... hurry up thx.

They won't. Theyll show new videos of games announced 2 years ago, show some HOME beta still no launch date, pixeljunk eden or whatever it is called.

So it appears to be like this for FFXIII

FFXIII JPN (PS3) --> X months localization ---> FFXIII NA/EU (360/PS3)

So in Japan this makes probably zero difference. But over here its obviously a big deal.
 
They make it sound (on the SE website interview) like it's coming out on PS3 first and then being developed for 360 while it's localized for the US and EU....which wold lead you to believe that it will come out first on PS3 in US and EU, but I just saw this pic on 1up

The development seems like it will go this way:

FFXIII JPN (PS3) --> X months localization ---> FFXIII NA/EU (PS3) ----> X months development on X360 and release.

At least according to the SE press conference. It will be on 360 in EU/US at the same time, but the 360 development wont start until the PS3 US localization is done.
 
E3 is supposed to be fluff. Its about press and buzz and word-of-mouth. I think regardless of what Sony talks about, this E3 may have just been permanently stamped with "ff13 for 360!"
 
Third-party relations is going to take a lot of heat for this, I feel bad for them. Phil should have seriously tried to expand first-party JRPG development back in Japan but he didn't, hopefully Shu Yoshida will do something to get a couple of them out, so far this gen there's no wildarms, no arc the lad and no new JRPG IP out on the PS3 yet.

welp sony's under a lot of pressure now to deliver some mind blowing announcements... if they don't they could very well lose all the momentum they just gained with MGS4.

People in NA waiting for FF (or rpgs for that matter) the choice is now clearer.
In which console can they play Final Fantasy for less money?

Besides if Square-Enix decided to release on 360 guess what all other japanese RPG developers are going to do?

Dont get me wrong Ill by the PS3 version, but this is a big hit against Sony.

Seriously.

Though this is a bit of a blow to morale it really doesn't change things as dramatically as people seem to think.

Ps3 owners are still playing all the games they were planning on playing.
FFXIII will still be a system seller in Japan where it is most needed.
After GTAIV, the ability of FFXIII to move consoles in europe and the us must be questioned.

The big downer as I see it, is the potential for the game itself to be compromised due to being multiplatform. Though that of course is far from a sure thing anyway.

This isn't necessarily a case of Sony dropping the ball, this is a case of the economic reality of HD game development.

If Sony has a poor showing of 1st party titles, then they have dropped the ball and are fucked. We shall see.
