The E3 '08 Sony Prediction and Discussion Thread

God of War 3 reveal, played up in the same way KZ2 was last year
Team ICO teaser at least, maybe their PSN game
FFXIII blow-out

That's what I want
 
- Zipper will unveil their warfare MMO game. It may actually not go under the Socom name.
- Brief God of War 3 teaser, no true gameplay revealed, game is long time coming.
- Heavy Rain is shown, looks amazing.
- WipEout HD releases instantly, trophy support and the works, hailed as the absolute cutting edge for downloadable titles.
- LittleBigPlanet receives release date (sometime in October).
- Resistance 2 Beta Key to be given out to purchasers of Socom Confrontation.
- PSN Video Service to start in the US in September, other regions to roll out later.
- Home closed public Beta sign ups will be taken, registrants will be let in within the next month (~50k extra spots available). Open Beta (think Gmail) will start in November prior to R2 release. All aspects of PSN expansion (Home, Trophy rewards system, Video service, PS Store..etc) are thoroughly detailed and explained.
 
With development for all platforms now going full steam ahead and lots of rumours all over the place, I think this will be an awesome E3 for gamers. :D
 
I want to see them announce a slim PS3 model. E3 is probably the last chance it would happen this year. Given the doldrums the PS3 is sitting in Japan, this would seem like a no-brainer to push this year.

I really hope something on this surfaces. This, GoW3, inFAMOUS gameplay, and something for Uncharted 2 would be more than enough for me to be happy.

I just hope they really drop the stupidity this time and keep the game grounded in reality. I'd piss on my grandmothers grave for the game to have jazz-ish noir theme throughout the game. No sci-fi shit please.
 
Yeah, uncharted 2 should be amazing. I mean, I thought the first game was good, but it didn't really impress me as much as it impressed the the people over here as I felt the game was too barebones and I don't really give a shit about unlockables. Sequel also needs more Sully. :D

Oh, and my God of War III prediction... if that EGM rumor is real I bet they'll show off Soul Caliber 4 and reveal the Kratos announcement there along with the GoW3 trailer :o

While I've never played Daxter, I can't help but feel that a non-ND J&D just wouldn't be right. J&D was my favorite ps2 series last gen after MGS, and it's what made me fall in love with ND. Without ND...it just wouldn't be the same.

And besides, didn't R@D say they want to start working on their own IP now?

I didn't mind the sci-fi stuff per se... what I felt was wrong with the last parts of the game was the abrupt change in pacing, stuff happening out of nowhere, without context... I mean, that relationship between
Lucas and Carla

And I have to say that when Lucas
went Neo
it surprised me a bit. I hadn't done that "boxing sandbag training" scene and had thought of all the stunts he performed while in trance, fighting the bugs and stuff, as something that happened only in his mind... so when that happened and he
kicked the cops' asses
I was like "whoa what's going on now lulz".

Still, awesome game, and David Cage recognized many of the same flaws many others did in the post-mortem, i.e. paying little attention to the ending, and vowed that it wouldn't happen again. So, I'm trusting HR to be great.

General apathy about PS3 software library will remain consistent.

Of course some people will be disappointed. I'm just optimistic about E3 overall but watching the conferences can be a bitch. They were on pretty late (GMT) last year iirc and i expect the same this year.

Oh, I'm excited to see what it's all about. Really curious to see what type of atmosphere they'll be focusing on in the game, and if it's something I like, I'm all over this. I really loved the first few hours of Indigo.

- a patch to update GT5P with more stuff.
- a Dark Cloud and Sly Cooper sequel announcement in addition to the stuff in OP.

Not that I completely disagree with you or anything, but you do know that Ready at Dawn was founded by ex-Naughty Dog people, right?

Also, there are most definitely some surprises still in store for every company. This E3 is going to kick ass -- even if I think it'll be the last. 10 years of this stuff will be enough for me. Bring on the events for games when they're actually ready, I say.
 
E3 has changed. It's no longer about games, developers, or fans. It's an endless series of proxy battles fought by waggle controls and avatars. E3 - and its consumption of fanboys - has become a well-oiled casual machine.

E3 has changed. The age of exclusives has become the age of casual gaming.. All in the name of averting bankruptcy from the growing costs of game development. And he who controls the waggle.. Controls history.

E3 has changed. When the casual market is under total control..Waggle becomes routine.

What? those are very likely to happen. At least the first three are.
 
I am not getting my hopes up for those teasers.

The 'The Agency' thing is just a jab at SOE's track record.

And, I've been very disappointed with the quantity of new, original PSN titles being released (though I am extremely happy with the good ones that we do get), and so I'm not expecting much in the way of PSN titles beyond what we already know.

I really believe and hope a new Jak and Daxter is coming. I think they are going to take the Insomniac root.
