The E3 '08 Sony Prediction and Discussion Thread

Everyone is overhyping things again. That is a huge announcement! Plus we get a sneak peek at GOWIII and a first look at Infamous.

Too many new announcements will take away from their awesome lineup. What more do people want??? R2, Killzone, LBP, Motorstorm 2, Flower, Eden etc

Plus all the 3rd party stuff like Fallout III, Star Wars, GHWT and RB2.

Leave Trico, White Knight , GT5 and Final Fantasy for TGS.

I think you guys are the ones that fail. You are setting yourself up for massive disappointment when you should be stoked about Sonys awesome line up.

If it's a CG trailer of GoWIII who cares...

Yes, I want to see more of R2, KZ2, LBP, MS2, etc...but we've already seen a lot from those titles.

I want to see a lot of new projects or projects we haven't heard from in a long time.

I'm not expecting Ico, and FF7 and ZOE3 and GOW gampelay etc all the same show. no
but i do expect more than 1 new announcement, after all this time D:
and the lack of 3rd party games on that list? and all those games that disappeared off the radar.

anyways
that's just assuming that list is the full list, and is real. But i find it questionable since there's no mention of HOME, Bioshock, FF13 anywhere, and u'd think those would be part of it.

Like I said, I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment. I hope you're right because of course we would love 100 megaton announcements but the more they announce, the more it will detract from their other releases. Announcing a game too early can often have a negative affect on hype.

MAG sounds awesome BTW. But another shooter Sony? Where's the platformers? RPG's?

Think people are just wanting more than shooters, racing, and stuff available elsewhere. Plus FF13/GT5 have been there before ps3 even came out, and in FF13's case we still haven't anything of any importance.

if that list is the entirity of Sony's E3 then that's really disappointing
it would suck if the only new game revealed is another shooter
It isn't. We already know they are showing Xam'd: Lost Memories.

Seriously, we haven't gotten anything substantial since 2006. All of the Famitsu info drips were CG too. How long are we going to wait? :/

Although they did say that we're getting a demo in 2008. Hope they keep their word. A FF13 demo would be ridiculously monumental.

whats the chance of team Ico showing of a new game?

wanda was a long time ago, they should have been creating something since then right....

It has more of a chance of being shown at the PS Premiere or TGS than E3 imo, but we can still dream.

I agree that a CG teaser is fucking pointless. We know what GOW is, we know what Kratos looks like and there is no point releasing story hints cos it's GOW, fuck he story really.

It will only be good if it reveals something cool, like Co-op. But Co-op would suck in GOW, so whatever. Gameplay tidbit or nothing Sony.

Co-op in GOW? That's suicide to the franchise.

Why?

Anyway going by that guys list, no RPGs? A massive online FPS game? Sony forgot about their none FPS loving PS2 fanbase I guess. :o

I think TGS wil cover that sector of their fanbase

FFXIII
FF versus
White Knight
Afrika
GT5

And whatever new IPs they decide to announce. I agree there are currently not enough games that aren't FPS but when it changes, boy it will change.

Also people tend to forget about LBP.

That's a good argument as to why they won't drop it... the new 80GB units have only been out for a month...

they could easily drop MGS4 and release the 80gb at 400. would be seen as a small price drop.

was this mentioned already somewhere? dont want ot make a thread about it...

home logo on boxarts now.

bioshock_cover_home_ps3.jpg

i really hope not. or if they do, at least keep the DS3 logo off. so obviously HOME will be huge at E3 again.

Just saw these Pre E3 MS2 pics at Eurogamer. Most look old but a couple appear new to me at least.

They all seem from a new build and BTW Eurogamer has a new hands on Motorstorm which left me salivating:

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=175780

A revamped structure - still focused on a fictional festival of off-road racing - now breaks MotorStorm's linear progression into four, each thread focusing on one of the four themed zones of the Hawaiian setting: Fire (lava flows and volcanoes), Air (high altitude mountains), Earth (thick, muddy jungle) and Water (beaches and rivers). There's still some limiting of the vehicle classes you can use in each race as you unlock them, but it's generally less constrictive, and you can pick a favourite vehicle for each class in your garage to cut down on menu time.

When we visited, Evolution didn't have any Fire tracks available to play, but we had plenty of time with tracks from the other three zones. Kanaloa Bay (Earth) is a sprint across an open, lagoon-studded beach followed by an inland circuit of the kind of rocky, split-level terrain familiar from the first game's Monument Valley. In Cascade Falls (Water), vehicles push through a frenetic tangle of vegetation and plough through rivers and ponds before arriving at the money shot: a spectacular, sweeping banked turn under huge waterfalls.

We also try out two Air tracks. Rain God Spires takes place at an altitude of 8,000 feet, and features treacherously narrow runways over towering cliffs, and some stupendously over-the-top jumps. Meanwhile, Caldera Ridge - probably our favourite of the four - is an atmospheric pelt around the blackened summit of a volcano which threads through a ruined observatory before barrelling down a vast, wide-open slope. We also catch glimpses of Scorched - a Fire track on an active volcano, smothered in heat-haze - and Sugar Rush, a semi-indoor track weaving through a ruined sugar refinery, littered with hazards.

God, why is this thread 24 pages? :lol

I've a feeling GAF over-expectation could bite some people in the ass (again). Last year's conferences were good, so this year it's probably the turn of bad conferences again ;)

edit - that MS2 shot is really nice.

Damn being lazy. Thanks for that guys. Elios83, that sounds very promising. I expect MS2 to have a very competent showing. How big a splash it makes all depends on what else Sony show of course but being a big fan of the first (I wish it had trophies - I'd replay all the tickets!) I can't wait for this one.

Go Evolution.

You're just concerned because you haven't earned your tag this year :P

That supposed 'MAG' game developed by Zipper does sound very plausible and certainly ties in with what we've been hearing about the studio.

However, I wouldn't take that list as the entire contents of the show. It seems to me that it's been leaked by someone either crewing the rehearsals or working close by and has managed to sneak a peak.

I'd be genuinely surprised if this MAG game and GOW3 are the only PS3 projects unveiled tomorrow. I think we'll see teaser trailers for a few first party 2009 projects as well.

I will however be upset if this E3 passes without an appearance by 'The Jaffe'.

.

and on MAG being third person
I believe so, the trailer shows alot of running around and shooting and dying, views thru binoc's, Paratroopers, big *** remote gun's.
But not FP footage per say.

oh, did I say how cool Killzone2 is

lol, I think Sony's sealed up all their usual bucket-holes :(

Anyway, I'm no more pessimistic than usual. It usually pays ;)

That's a good shout actually. I think that there is a very real chance that the PSP might just equal (and may even surpass) the PS3 in terms of new titles announced at Sony's conference.
