The E3 '08 Sony Prediction and Discussion Thread

Sony needs to focus more on their Japanese line-up this E3. When I look at the PS3, I see something that's trying to offer the same thing the 360 is in terms of games. Get me some RPGs dammit

Is Sony's conference tomorrow? I highly doubt there is anything that Sony can show that will really impress me, unless they've paired up with Square and show Chrono Trigger 2 or something of the sorts. God of War 3 would be a good showing, but that has already been announced. You know what would really impress me? If we actually got realistic release dates on games and for Home... and Sony stopped delaying everything.

I doubt it, he is probably on the Sony ninja's next hit list. :lol

Nah, if they got a better exclusive than FF13 he will be there to bring good news.

If not, then he wont be there because he is in hostile territory.

whats the name of the porno?

it wasn't a porno. it was just a video of her posing nude for some photographer. i'm like speechless right now. I need to make some phone calls and get in contact with her or something to see what's going on with her. haven't talked to her in like 5 years

WOW AT THE iNFAMOUS FOOTAGE!!!!

HOT HOT HOT

And here's a surprise potential, a Chrono sequel. Small chance the Break patent can make an appearance. But we're talking TGS-like announcements here now.

Does Sony even have the money to secure potentially BIG exclusives? You'd think all the money they're losing on the PlayStation 3 is likely running them dry.

Sony will show 2 new games we haven't seen before.

And some other unexpected news.

God of War is not one of the 2 new unannounced games

One of these games will be that horrible DC universe game right?

I don't follow; my check post was just me being as ass, as I can't believe I'm sitting here watching a movie to see game trailers.

:| indeed.

Didn't Sony moneyhat Square for staying PS3 exclusive in Japan? Why else would Square do that?

National pride?

Square is no different than any other publisher; they play the numbers game and it's now MS's turn at bat, with Sony in the batters box.

You do know Sony is a multi billion dollar company right??

I think it should be phrased more as "they technically have the money, but aren't in the financial position to secure major exclusives." Sony certainly could secure exclusives if they wanted to bleed more money, but it's fairly apparent that they aren't running the show as a subsidized event any more. 3 billion dollars in losses is the limit: the PS3 has to stand on its own legs now. Moreover, their position in the market (console with smallest install base, least software sales, and most expensive platform to develop on) makes the costs for exclusivity likely much higher than for anyone else right now.

Microsoft is making a profit, and can afford to throw some money around at this point. Nintendo could absolutely do so, and could probably buy major companies at this time, but it isn't in their nature to do so.

I hope I'm proven wrong, of course. However, I expect some major exclusive games to be announced for the PS3 tomorrow, just ones that are developed by Sony.

It's not coming out on 360 in Japan because they'll sell the vast vast majority on PS3 anyways. That's not the case elsewhere though.

Are you talking FFXIII? Didn't SE already say it came down to userbases?

360 has a large userbase in North America and a decent one in Europe. So SE stands to make good money by offering the game to those audiences. 360 isn't a factor in Japan so they won't bother there.

They're making a move that simply makes sense.

Sony is actually like, twice as big as Microsoft. It's pockets aren't as deep, but it's huge.

FFXIII is literally the only game I can think of that, even if released RIGHT NOW, would sell more copies for PS3 than 360 in the US (in my opinion).

It is such a PS franchise and such the opposite of every Xbox franchise (classically speaking).

Don't know why but I'm still a little bit down... tomorrow can't come soon enough :/

This generation has turned into a state of ridiculousness.

People said the same thing about DMC4, and lot of dumb people said the same thing about GTA4. It'll sell beautifully on 360 and PS3.

Annual revenue isn't the most common method for measuring a company's size, but it is true that Sony trumps Microsoft and particularly Nintendo by a large margin in that arena.

It was meant to be a joke. I agree with the BS of having to watch a movie for the goods.

Same here. I just read 360 getting exclusive Fallout 3 content, I mean is Sony even calling 3rd parties anymore? It seems microsoft has a team of people visiting every 3rd party developer. Could you imagine how things will be if Capcom actually accepted microsoft's offer.

You will be much happier at this time tomorrow. Unfortunately the irrational fanboys will still be here. This is the worst it has been since I've been here on GAF, that's for sure. Lemme know if you wanna game. Sent a PM on the PSN.

What's ridiculous is the amount of money that MS is willing to toss around (not for FF mind you) to tie down these games. It's as if they're doing it for sport because they can. Do they even care about becoming profitable one day?

Not that we as gamers should care, but it's really quite the strategy.

Sony better have a few aces up their sleeves. MS's showing was pretty amazing.

FF VII remake ... here we come

The FF13 revelation was a surprise, but in the ends it's a port of a game we already knew about.

Sony can't compete with that sort of megaton announcement, but the MS E3 press conference was a major disappointment in terms of showing unrevealed content.

it sucks that we get a whole day to discuss microsofts e3 showing, but sony and nintendo decided to have theirs at the same time...right after each other no less. the forum is gonna be packed with threads.

I was looking at number of employees chiefly. But aside from that Sony has many more divisions also, as well as having almost twice the annual revenue. It also owns the rights to a lot more things.
