Read the io9 recap, and they are correct:

Barry Allen is basically Peter Parker.

yeah they jazzed him when they brought him back. Still boring in comics.

Five minutes into the show, already feeling it more then Arrow, and they named drop one of my favorite DC heroes. Nuklon

I wonder how far they'll take The Flash in terms of power level, i really want to see water running, running up the side of skyscrapers and towards the end of a few seasons in - almost light speed running.

Well, he doesn't seem to have the Speed Force, or at least can't control it, because he's still blowing out windows when he runs. I do want to see him run up stuff.

seriously guys how good is WB's soundtrack game right now? zimmer knocked it out of the park with tdk trilogy and man of steel imo.

and now we got blake neely killing it on tv with arrow and now flash. watch that green arrow/flash speech again. after the corny "lightning chose you" line the monologue gets much better, TDK gordon-esque. and the music accompanying that part

or when ollie dives off the roof and it transitions from the arrow theme to the flash theme

imma cop the flash soundtrack whenever it releases. this shit sounding blessed right now. giving me based elfman vibes from the raimi spiderman movies.and barry allen reminds me of tobey maguire parker. this the shit i been waiting for.

edit: for reference

Just saw it. Boring by-the-numbers origin story, the suit looked awful, CG had a few good parts but was mostly distracting in how haphazardly it was put together; not to mention the terrible writing that constantly contradicted itself just a few minutes apart. It felt like I was watching that awful Green Lantern movie again.

I'm not a face-ologist, but that doesn't look like
Wells

Kind of off topic, but that Deathstroke panel made me wonder. Why did they never call him Deathstroke on the old Teen Titans show? Was it just because of the word "death"? Because that dude had a lot more messed up stuff going on than his name and they still used him in the show. I almost lost my mind when they introduced Terra and had them working together thinking they were gonna imply what went on in the comics...

Yes it was because the name 'Deathstroke' was considered inappropriate for kids. Animated shows can have strange restrictions on what they can and can't show (hence a lot more implication of death/sex etc in those sort of shows).

That animation looks like he's from The Tick cartoon.

That just makes it all the more crazy that they introduced Terra and had her working with Deathstroke.

Constantine should have amazing soundtrack too.
Based Bear McCreary. His Human Target (another great DC show) music was godly too.

can someone quickly explain
professor zoom
since im not versed in Flash lore (or DC in general)

The main guy seems like a straight rip-off of Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker: nerdy awkward kid who stumbles around with his newfound powers. That's just the formula for success, I guess.

I don't read comics so I don't have any special attachment to these characters. As a casual TV watcher, this pilot was cheesy as fuck. Decent effects for TV though. Clearly they're gonna have to nerf his abilities in ways other than him reliving bad memories and losing control all the time.

Just saw the pilot and it was meh. I can't get over the bad acting and visual effects. Flash as a super hero never really interested me though.

You need to read this thread then
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=905765
Before I read that, he was just that superhero who ran fast. And then I checked out the thread and realized how awesomely overpowered The Flash is.

I know he's OP as fuck but I doubt they'll make him that strong in this. But even then, his roster doesn't really interest him. You got a dude throwing boomerangs and another who can play the flute, for example. The flash in the mean time can travel through time and thinks faster than the smallest unit of time. He should be fighting cosmic beings.

Convoluted as hell, as is most DC, but there are elements taken from the comics such as being from the future.

The ideas are great, but the comics always stuff to much into too small space. All the crazy time travel and pseudo science should benefit greatly from more room to breathe the tv show will offer.

Barry Allen is the straightlaced nerd to Oliver's 'ain't got time to bleed' jock.

If Oliver wasn't around, I'd wager The Flash TV show would have a less nerdy lead. It's an intentional contrast.

John Wesley Shipp, the actor who played Barry Allen in the short-lived TV series The Flash on CBS in the '90s, has been cast as Henry Allen, the superhero's father in the upcoming CW remake starring Grant Gustin.

@ Sanctuary, damn mind blown! 😯 I thought he looked familiar.

That's not all.
They hired Amanda Pays from the old series to play a new version of Tina McGee, the character she played/originated in the 90s Flash.

OG Flash was so damn good. It really had that Batman: TAS vibe, but in live action form.

Edit: I'm enjoying Gotham, but the acting is absolutely abysmal and the writing is a bit so-so.

The acting and writing is one of the reasons Gotham is better than the Flash so far. And Gotham is Batman: TAS in live action form, something I did not get from Flash (not that it needs it or anything, just like Gotham).

I'm sorry, but Gotham's delivery ranges from serviceable to cringe-worthy. The premiere was ok, but some of the acting in the third episode...

For those that want it, this is a screen grab of the final scene in the episode:

Wasn't sure if it would be a spoiler if I just posted the image.

The easteregg being a different text and darker really makes it stand out.

Huh, so Bruce and Olie merged their companies.

Watched this episode again , i just love it.

I'm picturing it now, season 2 (possibly 3) end of season finale, a big bomb goes off in the middle of the city within a very crowned area, The Flash reaches the peak of his power and WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!! the scene goes full slow mo and we get to witness The Flash rescue every single person within the blast radius - it cuts to the TV reporters/police some distance away and WAM: all of a sudden a massive crowd of hundreds of people just appears as if from nowhere, and The Flash is standing there with smoke coming of his boots completely exhausted.

Basically the nuke scene from the comics but on a smaller "big bomb" scale for TV, i hope they do something like that at some point.
