The final 3 hours of pre season testing is just about to start, hopefully we can see some all out qualifying laps this afternoon...

Absolutely. They've been talking themselves up since they launched the car, let's hope that they can live up to their own hype.

Then again, everyone's been positive to the Mercedes car, and it can't just be everyone going off of what Mercedes say. They did do better last year once they stopped focusing on one-lap pace and worked on their race pace instead, so maybe that's why they're focusing on that to this extent. Really, really hoping tire degradation won't be as big of an issue as last year. It's sad when Schumacher can't push his car :<

Have Red Bull said if they're having a problem? Would have thought Vettel would be as busy as possible today.

From the BBC

"You may have seen pictures elsewhere of Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull with its front wing at an odd angle - much steeper from front to back than usual. The team say this was the result of an off-track excursion which damaged the wing and the undertray. The time it took to repair the car explains why he has done relatively few laps so far on Sunday."

I'd take that with a pinch of salt. The wing looked structurally fine, on F1 Technical people are suspecting some active font wing which malfunctioned and jammed in position.

Edit: AMuS reporting that RB are changing the gearbox (for the third time in these tests).

Rumours of Hamilton going to Mercedes to replace Schumacher for 2013.
Bit early for driver speculation!!

Why would Lewis leave the security of McLaren for a team that may well not exist in a few years? If Merc don't succeed as a manufacturer they won't be sticking around, they'll go the way of all the others who have hade a crack at running an F1 team with Brackley's factory after the closing down of Tyrrell's old factory in Ockham.

Hamilton is probably not showing up empty handed at the contract negotiating he has yet to do with McLaren. If he is without contract for 2013 Red Bull would be dumb not to sign him.

BBC F1 advert "We are the racing line" - 2nd rate cunt flaps.

Racing with the Hamiltons, Tue 6 Mar 2012 22:35 BBC One:

In 2011, 19-year old Nic Hamilton dreamed of following his brother Lewis in to motor racing. But as well as the pressure of being a Hamilton and never having raced a car in his life, Nic also has a disability that had him using a wheelchair until he was 16.

This powerful and intimate film follows the family as they try to help Nic achieve his dream. With unprecedented access we see Nic embark on a season that will determine whether he has what it takes to make a career of his own in the glamorous and dangerous world of motorsport.

I could've sworn a week ago or so there was rumours of Schumi extended his contract lol

This week there has also been rumours of massa being fired with immediate effect, HRT closing shop, mclaren having a revolutionary rear wing and ferrari purging staff.

So colour me a cynic but iam not going to rush out and buy merc gp gear just yet.

Fernando Alonso told TV interviewer at Barca game last night: "In the first races we will suffer because we are not 100%."

I've a feeling it'll be Ferrari and Lotus scrapping it out for the 4th row of the grid, Ferrari seem to be in relative trouble and I think Lotus are showing their hand too much, I can't see their pace being pack leading.

what is this?

looks funny lol[/QUOTE]

Pressure sensors I'd imagine. Most teams have used them at some point this season.

Red flag is out. Petrov has stopped on the run off, if they can move the car quickly there might be just enough time for some quick quail sims.

I haven't been keeping up and just saw the OT.

Kimi is back? WTF? And with Lotus? LOL. This is gonna be interesting.

Also, I see Massa is still at Ferrari. Any idea why he wasn't dropped?

and its raining.. no glory laps now

EDIT: wait!.. what happened here? lol

Haha, you must have missed my edit!

Vettel's new gearbox would need a systems check which would take a lap and a trip back into the pits I guess. He might just have time for one lap at the end.

Edit: Nevermind, he is staying out. Slower than his time this morning though.

And that's the end of pre-season. No one did any glory runs at the end so we'll have to wait until Melbourne to see the true performance of the cars.

Thats a wrap..

Vettel only did 22 laps today. Still reckon RBR are the fastest.

Time to get the official thread going soon.

For those with no Sky, they're showing some of their F1 programming on Pick TV (Freeview 11)

March 11th:

9pm - Times of Our Lives

10pm - F1 Show - 2012 preview

It was inevitable - I'm pretty sure they'll show a non-live BBC race on the channel this season with their 'Free Pass'.

HRT will run it's car during a filming day at Barcelona tomorrow.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/97840
HRT will be able to run its 2012 car on Monday at the Barcelona circuit, the Spanish squad confirmed on Sunday evening.

The team was hoping to join its rivals for the four-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya, but was unable to get there in time.

HRT said, however, that the new F112 will take to the track tomorrow taking advantage of the filming days regulations.

Indian Narain Karthikeyan will be the man in charge of driving the car, but Pedro de la Rosa and reserve driver Dani Clos will also be at the track following the proceedings.

The test will have to be carried out with demo tyres, as rules stipulate teams cannot using proper racing tyres during filming days.

The running is also limited to 100km.
