Man I got screwed this week points wise. Mercedes terrible race pace cost me big time and Perez not racing.

i used to love love watching mika and shumi battle it out.
was it in germany when he did that epic over take with webber in between him and shumi?

Fixed for accuracy, and to include more of the quote as so not to make it seem more douchey than it actually was.

People who didnt get the Ali G joke and assume he is seriously pulling the race card, need some culture in their lives.

That was at Spa at the end of the Kemmel straight, the guy in between them was Zonta.

The post-race press conference is up on the BBC website fyi, only works for UK users though if I remember correctly.

Lewis wants Senna's 6 at Monaco. Even Michael never got it not for want of trying (1996,2000,2002,2004,2006).

I think Lewis was very frustrated today since he had a genuine chance of winning this race and the track is his favourite track. You could see it in his demeanour. The moves he pulled were rash. Had a terribly unlucky weekend and he let it get to him.

Red Bull won't be beaten till the FEE is banned. Then you'll see the pack close right up. The advantage that system brings out of Anthony Noghes was ridiculous.

This. That 'exhausts-in-diffuser-even-without-throttle' system brings them that additional half second advantage in Q3. And their car looks like bulletproof system, minus KERS.

You're right, Renault is the only one so far with a FEE.

The system they're thinking about is off-throttle exhaust blowing, or "hot-blowing."

I don't think the octupus was front exiting, IIRC its purpose was to bend the rule of only being allowed two exhaust exits so the additional exists could be used to blow the diffuser more effectively.

And it overheated or something foolish, are they still working on it or have they abandoned finding a solution to?

Yes it did, but they also tried to use some forbidden materials. So they put it on hold.

What materials was that? Think most teams use titanium or Nicasil for exhausts.

Do not know exactly, but exhaust was just too hot for normal exhaust material, so they looked for alternatives.

That Lewis on board shot is brilliant stuff.

If memory serves, it was something called 'prosic', I believe that the FIA hadn't actually banned it until they inspected McLaren's car.

i think the story was that it was allowed as exhaust material, but maclaren did some trickery and rules exploiting with directing exhaust gasses into non exhaust parts (octopus??) which was made out of said material which isn't allowed

Oh wow. So Massa went in too deep and had to turn in early to avoid colliding with Webber, which meant that he ended up turning into Hamilton at the same time.

It's called Pyrosic. It was banned because it was a really expensive material/technology, and it was the only one that could be used that wouldn't overheat so they had to use a conventional exhaust solution.

Can someone explain why they used super softs this weekend with softs instead of hard and soft? I think alonso also said they will be using super softs in canada as well. Is it just certain tracks?

the idea is to have 2 stop races.
hard soft would be too easy to 1 stop for everybody

I'm a fan of all the drivers, you'll see me complain about Seb because of how dominant he is right now, it'd be nice if we had the same championship uncertainty that we had last year. To go along with the race chaos at the moment.

I have to say in Lewis first season I couldn't stand him. But he seemed to change his attitude which is the thing I didn't like about him. He's extremely talented and has the abillity to be one of the greatest drivers, but races like today don't help his cause. I love the way he has a go at passing and makig a race of it, and is very senna minded in the way he passed. But unfortunately times have changed as schumi found out when barrichello made the pass on him and schumi nearly stuck him in the wall. Ten maybe 15 years ago no one would have really batted and eyelid but with health and safety etc, you can't be seen to be causing accidents. I would be prefer him to hold his hands up more and admit his mistakes, he was doing that up until a few races but he's gone back to his old ways. He definetly needs to sort out himself emotionally, maybe the dad not being manager is hurting him

I think I might have to download this race. Sounds like if it was worth watching, if only for all the drama and not the actual racing.

Great race. Good work by Vettel on old tires and Button was impressive. Hamilton was awful.

Edit: Also, I think Hamilton is a great driver, but this race he wasn't good and was at fault for his accidents despite his protests.

Just finished watching the race, a few thoughts. Massa continues to be terrible. Hamilton was downright awful. I'm super pissed we got zen fengar-arsched yet again. I wanted Alonso on that win so bad.

You see barely any of his race. Plus you know the result, it was entertaining but as an unknown. I absolutely hate watching races where I know the winner.
