A deal was agreed to keep the European GP at Valencia until at least 2014, then a new venue might be selected.
Dear lord, only hope now is that Fernando does not win WDC until 2015, so they would move Valencia somewhere else :lol

The foundations of any F1 calendar must include the following:

Spa
Suzuka
Monza
Silverstone
Monaco
Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
Interlagos
Adelaide

Everything else is riff raff in comparison. If you want to expand the calendar then add the following:

Portimao
Jerez
Potrero de los Funes Circuit (Argentina)
Paul Ricard
Red Bull Ring.
Istanbul
Slightly changed, but yeah, that's about right.

Good choices. And instead of cluttering up the rest of the calendar with other circuits, they should race at the above twice.

Also, it may be a Mickey Mouse track, but I'd love to see the cars visit Burke Lakefront Airport at least once. Watching 8 cars abreast fight for turn one was one of the highlights of the IndyCar/ChampCar/C.A.R.T. season.

Wait. Everyone who had plans to go to India for the GP is now fucked? Because of Bahrain? What the hell Bernie? You have made some shitty decisions before, but this is top of list of recent ones.

I'd like to see it because I could go to an F1 race on the cheap.

The FIA just released a provisional calendar for the 2012 season so I'll probably book my hotel reservations for Austin later this week. :)

I'm going to be doing the same...

We need to have a GAF get together during the race weekend next year.

Do we have any idea of when tickets will go on sale/what the grandstand layout will look like?

If the elevation is as drastic as some drawings have made it seem, T1 + Binoculars might be a good bet?

Fuck, I'm from Australia and that sounds like an awesome idea. New GP, heaps of unknowns... I might take a trip to the good old US.

Oh, just started watching the BBC coverage of Monaco. The pre-race interview with Webber was fucking awesome. Such a stand-up dude.

Oh shit, Austin is in June. I'll be a fresh college graduate then, sounds like a good grad present to myself.
Do it.

Going to a GP is an amazing experience; soaking up the atmosphere, sharing your passion with like-minded people, and the sound of the cars is like nothing you've ever experienced before. It really gives you a better appreciation for the sport that we all love.

Looks like he didn't see the car coming (because of that inflatable arch thing) and because he was running so fast, coming from the hill, he couldn't stop in time, so he decided to try and jump over the car ?

Nobody questioned the guy ?

Yeah I've gone to a Ferrari event here at Infineon. They were racing some of the older f1 cars, I think they had an older one from the early 90s, a v10 and the 2007(?) car. All of them were freaking great.

And keep in mind that F1 will likely using be 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engines in 2013 that only rev to 13000rpm.

If you live in the US and want to see F1 in its prime, you need to be there for the inaugural Austin GP.

LOL!

GT1 race live on now at Silverstone, one of the Nissans' knocked off one of the Astons, the Aston span off because of it, who then came back on to the track and drove full speed up to the Nissan who was driving slowly to wait for him and crashed into the side of it.

Amateur racing at its best.

But they told us the new cars will still sound great! :lol

Holy fuck that was an amazing end to the race. Faaaark the last few laps were so tense between the Aston and GT-R. Fucking great racing, I thought the Vette might have snuck up there right at the end to.

Thanks for posting the link.

No problem, it's fun to watch when there's no F1 on :) Even better with Crofty doing the commentary.

Le Mans 24 next week, happy days :)

Next weekend will be godly - MotoGP in Silverstone, F1 in Albert Park and 24 hours of Le Mans
There was a time when I would have been anticipating the Le Mans 24 hour race and MotoGP more than F1, but now F1 easily trumps MotoGP (ruined by the 800cc engines and traction control) in terms of entertainment. Even the grand spectacle of the 24 hour race seems doesn't seem as compelling.

BTW, the Murray Walker documentary airs today in just over an hour and will most probably be uploaded on to Youtube for everyone overseas, as usual with BBC docs.

F1 revenue to double by 2016.

http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/261500/f1-revenue-poised-to-double-by-2016 /

2013 technical regulations approved.
Key points:

- Power units will be four cylinders, 1.6 litre with high pressure gasoline injection up to 500 bar with a maximum of 12,000 rpm, with extensive energy management and energy recovery systems (now known as ERS), reflecting the decision taken by the WMSC in December 2010
- The aerodynamic regulations have been based on 2011 rules, with modifications in order to improve the aerodynamic efficiency: together with the power train rules, this will enable a 35% reduction in fuel consumption
- The height of the tip of the nose will be limited to ensure better compatibility in a T-bone style accident
- A limitation on transmissions (gear ratios, number of gearboxes) in order to decrease costs
- The overall weight of the car must be no less than 660kg

In consultation with the main stakeholders, and following the outcome of this consultation, a fax vote by the WMSC could be considered by 30 June latest to redefine the implementation date of these technical regulations.

This is the worrying part for me. They are going to double the amount is costs to host a GP by 2016. Thats going to mean lots of new venues in "rich" countries and the old good tracks being dropped or an even longer season.
21 races next year is nearly a race every 2 weeks of the year with testing added on top.

Its being sold to the teams as a positive move as they will all earn more money.

Massive blame game and u-turns going on this morning over the Bahrain GP.

Each side blaming the other saying they all agreed to the change.
Max Mosley saying the inspection last week was a sham.
Bernie calls for re-think this morning after weekend to think it over..

F1 management is a fucking shambles. Too many fingers in the pie. Th FIA needs to get out of it other than ensuring safety standards, and let the teams run things.

What's going on today in FIA circles:

Bernie votes for 2013 technical regulations and turbo engines and now Todt comes out today saying he would be open to a delay as Ferrari & Mercedes are looking for it to be pushed out by "a few" years.

They should scrap this 1,6 litre nonsense and go straight to electric powered engine!

Check wicked engine sounds in this video. Imagine F1 with that sound!

(kidding, wait for Nintendo press conference is killing me)

Maybe I watched too many scifi movies as a kid, but I like the sound of electric sport cars like the Tesla. :/

Anyone who has been to an F1 race knows the importance of the sound of the cars, same is true when watching it on TV. Nothing impresses in F1 like the sound of the engines and the power of the cars. F1 changing from V8s to I4 turbo's would only hurt the show, not help it.

Ideally they would bring back the V10s :)

Ideally they would open up the engine regs to allow more creativity.

I'd like to see you guys improve your ratios, especially given that I had to turn some people away who wanted invites.
