not much to tell from the times, but Virgin ahead of Lotus. Guess they didn't expect that, heh.

tire wear seems to be a bit better on the RBR compared to McL when you look at their longer stints. Webber doesn't seem to be complete shit this weekend - I expect a 1-2 RBR quali and race.

Interestingly RBR and McL have the same speed trough the speedtrap (in FP2) and are also the fastest of the field

Running in the wet would give Vettel even more of an advantage.

I'd say Vettel/Hamilton/Alonso are fairly even in terms of wet driving skill.

We've still yet to see someone as good in the wet as Senna/Schumacher.

Pirelli has introduced a gold stripe to the outer edge of its soft tyres to make it easier to differentiate between its two compounds.

After the first race in Australia it became apparent that, from certain camera angles, it was not always obvious which compound was being used. As a result Pirelli has taken a leaf from Bridgestone's book by painting the outer edge of the soft tyres' wall.

"For Turkey, we will have a much stronger branding on the sidewall. We won't have the stripe; we will connect up the Pirelli and P-Zero wording with more bands of colour.

"It will mean that as it rotates, the black won't dominate. It will look like a turning circle of yellow - and be predominantly yellow in colour.

"We will do the same branding for all of the different compounds. From the testing we have done so far, it seems to work very well."

Fuck, why is Ferrari so slow. 2 seconds off the pace ffs, i hope alonso can increase his pace in the race and hopefully get a podium. I'm pretty sure its going to rain on race day which should make it interesting to say the least.

Don't act like it's a bad thing! You had your fun from '00 to '04. It's everyone else's turn now ;)

I'm not really talking about Ferrari, didn't watch F1 during there dominant era. I supported alonso with renault and hoping he can win with ferrari. Pissed me off when they sold raikkonen, he was my favourite driver alongside alonso.

Ferrari will be faster tomorrow for sure. Massa was quicker than Alonso today which is not normal.
I'd expect Alonso to copy Massa car setup overnight and be top 6 tomorrow in FP3 and qualifying.

eeh, i wouldn't read too much into FP1 and 2.
Also no way Alonso and Kimi together would have worked out. Alonso wants to be the clear cut no.1 in his team.

What do you mean? He was leading the race until his engine failed.

Vettel was driving a storming Korea race (pun unintended), I thought it was pretty harsh when his engine failed. But that's life.

I thought it was Korea where he spun out... must've been somewhere else I was thinking of. Was definitely raining, I'm sure.

Webber was the one who spun out in Korea in the rain, you probably mixed them up :)

Kimi was my favourite driver but he didn't fit in with Ferrari, LDM's biggest mistake was going for Kimi instead of Alonso.

The car is still not performing to what was expected, Ferrari just used FP1 and FP2 to run tests to see why they have no front end grip so hopefully they get the problems fixed fairly quickly. I'm not expecting any good results until the European season but with a driver like Alonso I'm confident by the last race he will still be in the running for the championship.

The tyres are degrading here much faster than in Melbourne and with the chance of rain this race could throw up a surprise.

Nah, I just thought I we were talking about Webber (even though it was I who brought up Vettel in the first place). It's early in the morning and I've just woken up... give me a break ;)

Hamilton for pole. Come on son!
I think that RBR have the pole locked down, but you never know.

Apparently the 2011 HRT wasn't even started until December 2010, which makes the fact that they even turned up at Australia an amazing feat. I feel so badly for the drivers and the engineers, these guys are a talented lot, and to be working with little resource and a shocking management must be heartbreaking.

They will struggle to get within the 107% rule again, although I do suspect the teams WILL let them race if they are close.
