I love the Wario Ware series, the original game was so good that I bought the GC version even though I knew it wouldn't offer much new and it enticed me to import my first videogame (Twist!) and my first console (DS+Touched!) ever and I think that the sequels are as good as the original.
But recently, I started to wonder what will come next: WW Touched! used all DS features (two screens, touch screen, microphone) and I see no realistic chance for the sequels to end up with GC ports because of their technical basis.
So what does this mean for the future of the franchise?
1) WW Touched! was the last edition
2) The future WW games will be released for home consoles
a) using wacky Nintendo peripherals (WW Bongo! - here we come)
b) using the Revolution technology
3) WW will stay on the DS, essentially using the same game mechanics introduced in WW Touched! (maybe spiced up with multi-player)
4) Nintendo will manage to find a new gameplay mechanic that is intuitive and versatile enough to allow for 180+ distinct microgames and is suitable for a handheld
I'm begging for 4) to become reality, but I have no idea which new input method could live up to the previous three and make up a worthy sequel.
