Translating the key points of the blog entry:

- Ralf has regained Kyuukouka Bakudan Punch (air qcf .P ), Gatling Attack ( sonicboom .P ) and Umanori Vulcan Punch ( QCBHCF .P ). Generally has more combo possibilities, with quite a few tricky combos.
- EX Burning Hammer ( qcf .P ) causes the opponent to collapse slowly, and allows for followup attacks.
- EX Galactica Phantom ( qcf qcf .P ) has faster startup than the normal version
- His NeoMAX is Jet Vulcan Punch ( HCB HCB .A .C ), which as you've seen in the videos is a rapid multiple punch super.
- Clark has regained Gatling Attack ( sonicboom .P ) and a followup, Death Rake Drive (? no idea what the command is), which is a jumping grab.
- His EX command grab moves have more range (omg). Makes opponents play much more carefully when Clark has gauge.
- His EX UAB has a special animation where the screen zooms in as he catches the opponent.
- His NeoMAX is a charging move called 'Ultra Clark Buster' ( HCB HCB .B .D ). You can MAX Cancel it from his UAB.
- Leona has gained a new DM 'Slash Saber', which is a powered up version of her Grand Saber ( sonicboom .K ).
- EX X-Caliber (air QCB .P ) creates a slash that persists in mid air and does multiple hits. Use it to lock the opponent in blockstun while you try and overcome their guard.
- Any attack that uses 2 stocks or more causes Leona's hair to change colour.
- EX V-Slasher has a more dramatic animation where the power builds up and explodes as she hits the top of the 'V'
- Her NeoMAX is 'Leona Blade' ( QCBHCF .A .C ), where she spears the opponent with a blade of energy coming from her arm.

Next week's blog update is about the Woman Fighters Team, and will take place on Friday instead of Thursday. Apparently it'll contain very 'deep' information about something - my guess is it's about Mai.

well with e3 right around the corner- and this game being on SNKs showlist- i can only deduct that either we will

a) get more gameplay details (whatever they said they were going to talk about deeply on the next blog- it could just be MAI though..lol)
b) direct feed media -such as a HD vids/screenshots
c) get a home release timeframe- namely for the ps3/xbox360 version.


Either way- more info on this game coming up, so i'm definitely amped.

I love HnK since the days of the tv series. Doesn't mean i have to like ArcS' uglier, more boring, more broken, choppier version of GG (a game i already don't like much).

HnK was great for what it was. Animated and gameplay are consistent with what I expect of ASW games really. HnK had the benefit of not featuring the standard horrible ASW character designs.

Yes, Jojo was good as well. I can love them both, until someone makes better versions. Which will probably never happen.

Just to be clear, I'm trolling that horrible Capcom Dynasty Warriors ripoff. Not HnK which is Japan's gift to the civilized world.

I can't stand them, but unfortunately ego and nerds help them survive. Trust me, go to 4chan and witness the worship of a certain Commie cartoonist that traces a popular Japanese style for acceptance. Go to any comic art message board and behold all the Jim Lee and Joe Madoodoorrhea swipe artists that get instant and easy praise heaped upon them for tracing a a popular style.

Makes me want to never stop vomiting, but these jerks are given a pass by desperate fans. >:|

Well, I've now personally found the source of five of the eight or so pieces of "original" art for this game that that site was given. *laughs* Supposedly they're trying to contact this "artist", so let's see how that goes.

I've never played KoF before, but the high-res 2D art looks glorious to me. What was wrong with XII, and does it look like XIII will fix those problems (whatever they may be)?
It looks awesome, but will it be worth buying is my question I guess.

No problems! ^_^

XII lacked content. Playable character, moves for characters, a boss, few stages, etc. Even though we could see arcade play for months before the game came out for home consoles, many felt let down after buying the game, saying it felt too incomplete.

XIII seems to correct ALL of that. A boss seems promised, there are 9 more character compared to the XII's home version, more stages (that also change between rounds), characters all have more moves, there's a new level of moves (called Neomaxs), and the single player mode has a story and written chara-specific intros... basically, it should be very worth buying on it's own, yes.

Notice how each lady is destroying the man she has obvious / hinted romantic ties with. Awww! :D

Is Mai's Neomax an air move, or did she have to cancel it off a charge down for her dive into it? Kinda confused on how that one actually worked.

Noticing the women's time big combos seen to do less then other chars. Hopefully that doesn't bite them in the rear when the game is out. Yuri also looks like she might have gotten a damage nerf from the earlier betas.

Gonna guess that they dont want to hurt KOFXIII arcade performance by announcing the console version so early... but come on!

They didn't announce it because there will be no console version, just like there will be no console version of VF 5 Final Showdown :/

I wasn't expecting it at E3.

SNK seemingly pissed Ignition off, and that's understandable because they busted their humps promoting KoF12 only to have it blow up in their faces.

So I get the impression Ignition will not be handling any more SNK licenses, but am hopeful we'll see a console release at some point. I hope. :(

Wait until TGS. Ignition isn't needed for a Japan-only port, which we could then import- worst case scenario. Aksys or Atlus might do it still, maybe even THQ.

As for VF, I'd bet money on it coming out.

I'm back into the "wait and see" mode, but an Iori '98 reveal would probably bring me right back in.

Today's blog entry talks a lot about Mai before going into mechanical changes for the three characters of the Women Fighters Team.

MAI SHIRANUI:

- KOF XIII Mai was designed to feel more like the Garou Densetsu/Fatal Fury version rather than the KOF version, specifically how in the FF version she's portrayed as more of a serious martial artist compared to the KOF version where she has a lot of moves that emphasize her, uh, attributes. Because of this she doesn't have too many 'sexy' animations, except for one animation in particular (which they didn't specify )

- This also extends to her movelist and in-game properties, where she was designed using her Fatal Fury Special version as the base, with strong pokes and a good Ryuuenbu (qcb+P).

- EX Ryuuenbu knocks the opponent up high and has very little lag on finish, making followup attacks possible.

- EX Kachousen (qcf+P) has piercing properties and travels fast, helping address the fact that Mai isn't too good at projectile wars since her fireball is slow and her high jump makes it easy to hit her out of the air if she tries to jump over the opponent's fireballs.

- Her NeoMAX is a move called 'Shiranuiryuu: Kunoichi no Mai' (qcf,hcb+AC). She jumps off the wall and dives diagonally downwards. If the dive connects she'll proceed with the rest of the attack where she tackles the opponent in mid-air repeatedly, spelling the characters 'ku - no - ichi'.

- You can use her air (down+B) to confuse the opponent as to which direction they have to block as she comes down.

- Mai and Andy's 10th alt colors are based off Hokutomaru's color scheme.

KING:

- King is based off her Ryuuko no Ken/Art of Fighting version. For instance her Tornado Kick (hcb+K) is based off the AOF2/KOF'95 version where she spins once and kicks twice. The influence extends to her outfit as well.

- However, the ability to do her Venom Strike (qcf+K) in midair is new to this game. It has low lag, and because it travels at a relatively high distance above the ground it's hard to jump over.

- The air version of EX Venom Strike is especially good. She lands much faster than she does with the regular version, which allows her to follow up with Tornado Kick or Trap Shot (dp+K). It also travels faster than the regular Venom Strike.

- The regular version of Surprise Rose (qcf(x2)+p) is the KOF2002UM version, but the EX version is the original AOF2 version. It's a very important move for King whose anti-air capabilities are otherwise poor.

- Her NeoMAX is 'Venom Shot' (qcb (x2)+BD) where she fires a giant Venom Strike like a shotgun. It's the fastest fireball in the game, but since it scatters into multiple fireballs while travelling, it's a little tricky to get all of the particles to hit. The piercing properties of the move are very similar to the Haohshoukouken, so it will probably beat out most other fireballs in the game.

YURI SAKAZAKI:

- Yuri always 'borrows' someone's moves with every new KOF (lol). This time her new move is Yuri Raijin Kyaku (down+b in mid-air). This is the dive kick move that you've seen in a bunch of match videos already. It's a very important part of her offense. You can use it to avoid uppercuts by diving right before they hit you, or to confuse the opponent's guard by doing it right above them.

- Another new move is 'Houyoku' (don't know the command). When you do this move, she jumps forward. If you press (punch) she does a striking attack. If you press (kick) she does Yuri Raijin Kyaku, and if you press (A+C) she does a throw (ST: wtf, stealing more moves from Akuma?)

- She used to have a move called Yuri Gen'ei Kyaku, that was like Robert's move of the same name. However it was removed because the strong point of that move is its reach, which didn't really fit with Yuri's generally short range on her moves. It was replaced with Kuuga/Yuri Chou Upper (dp+P).

- EX Hyakuretsu Binta (hcb+K) is a striking move instead of a running grab. It also has more invincibility so you can use it to go through fireballs.

- EX Raiouken (qcf+K in mid-air) fires off two projectiles at slightly different angles, allowing Yuri to control a bit more space.

- The final hit of her EX Hien Hou'ou Kyaku (QCF,HCB + K) has a special animation to it.

- Her NeoMAX is 'Haoh Raiouken' (qcb (x2)+AC), where she jumps up and throws a projectile that causes a multi-hit explosion when it lands. Good for chipping, and pretty hard for the opponent to avoid.

Next week's update is about the Yagami team.

I'm surprise they didn't talk about their clothe ripping off when they lose, I thought they would talk about it a bit.

Maybe they'll make such a thing RIGHT before the game comes out, haha. Would be a great promotion! :lol

But they already did that trailer... but it didn't include Clothe Ripping though. =/

Really happy at the Mai info. FFSP-style Mai with the poking and positioning is how I like to play Mai, and I loved down+B shenanigans in 2K2. I can see myself giving the locals fits with Mai again.

She'll definitely be on my team. Just wish she had a 2nd DM though.

Yuri's "roots" in KOF has been ripping off shotos for years, it's part of her character.

No serveral fans DM shown as of yet. Just Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi.

EX Specials seem almost just as good as DMs in this game, so while I'd love for her to have another DM... EX Kachousen almost sounds like a better Fans DM, really...

I'm pretty happy with Ukihane and Kuuchuu Musasabi no Mai as Ms. Shiranui's air options. EX Musasabi probably has instant startup (assuming it's there!) So it should cover the "Instant directional change" Yusura Ume gives her in other KoFs/NGBC.

Also enjoyed the fact she landed Neomax off a fireball float in her vid. Wasn't the same style of combo as everyone else, and the fan disapperaring as she started the NM was actually a nice touch.

With next weeks update, I'm most looking forward to hearing about Vice. Any interesting properties of her Snake arm pull-in, if they give her a proper followup to Gorefest, anything like Outrage, if she earned a new DM somewhere along the way... anything ^_^ She's probably the closest thing I have to a Shermie-alike in this game, so I'm quite curious...
