The Last of Us Part 2 : REMASTERED |OT| If somehow a tenner gave me a second chance at that moment... I would do it all over again

What sort of sound system are you using?
Vizio Elevate.

It turns the speakers upwards when it detects Dolby Atmos to bounce the audio off the ceiling. It works like a charm. The rear speakers also have two channels and also bounce the sound off the ceiling to create the illusion of ceiling speakers. Cost me $700 plus tax, but its been worth it.

Some audio enthusiasts dont like soundbars but ive always had a great experience with even the $250 vizio soundbar so figured their $1,000 soundbar would be as well. Got it on sale over a year ago and am glad i did because they seem to have discontinued this model and are selling a different elevate model now that doesnt have the rotating speakers. not sure what the difference is for the new one, but its cheaper.

Man there really is like a CW/young adult novel shift in the dialogue at the beginning of Part II…which yeah, you’re talking teenagers and young adults, makes sense but…bigot sandwich still hits hard bruh

Man this looks so amazing with 4k and hdr. The polish is out of this world.
The smoothness of 30fps vs unlocked fps is insane. That 10-15 fos makes a difference as usual. When you switch back to 30 it seems impossible to play haha. But we all finished this with 30 and it was fine. Ain’t that crazy how our brains can adapt?
Dualsense is fire too. I imported my save and it unlocked everything.

One thing - I love the motion blur and film grain here but can the stupid dirty lens effect be turned off? What’s even the idea. I hate when games do that

Now I hate that franquice .
The dogs rip out your throat if you leave them but I guess they look more cute than people you kill gruesomely in a game like this so it's crossed the line?

Whats the deal with this bow resistance trigger option shit. I'm here ahead of Frankie to get the ball rolling on getting this sorted.
It seems like a bug in the haptics options that others are reporting too.

As much as I love the fidelity and will stay with it. This must be hitting up towards 100fps at times in the performance mode and almost tempts me away at times.

How did Owen get all those burns/scars? I don’t remember any of that

I usually don’t mess with photo mode if I’m immersed in the story. I played through GOT in awe at the visuals but didn’t touch the photo mode in that.

I’ll see what I can come up with…

My philosophy is, No animal abuse in any scene... even if it is a video game.

It's one of the things I hate about this game from start to finish, the graphic abuse of the dogs.

How good is No Return!! Makes me not so sad of Factions demise. Anyone know if this will be one and done, or will they add to it over time? Hopefully they'll put this mode in LOU3. What a game.

I gathered as much but I'm just highlighting the strange dichotomy people place between harm to some hostile animal vs hostile humans. As if they value the dog more than the countless humans they kill in gruesome ways in the game, simply because of the physical appearance.

In fact, if there is a video game that I try to be as neutral as possible, they are the most interesting... dealing with and avoiding violence.

Joel’s death scene remains the best death scene in a game by far. Everytime I watch it it’s just good. The atmosphere
The music
The acting
The tension

Nothing even close
Yep. I wasn't spoiled on this moment and I remember how stressed I felt when they closed the door and I realised what's happening. Didn't see it coming, so his death absolutely shocked me. Couldn't believe what's happening.

You know what's "funny" gents ? The fact that even the people that already played/completed the game feel like they're (re)discovering America upon revisiting it - a testament to the game's quality even 4 years later...

In fact, barring some other mega-hits like RDR2 etc, nothing comes even close to this game when it comes to attention to detail, animations, sheer brutality, voice acting, cutscene direction and fantastic, emergent gameplay (only MGSV tops it when it comes to all the available options).

What's really funny is that wariorz® from the other side continue to label these games as "walk and talk and brick throwing simulators ®"...
This game has it all, yes, it's cutscene heavy but there's LOTS of gameplay here, more so than other "non cinematic" games in fact.

As for me...I finished the game on PS5 (patched) about a year ago and this "remaster" - even if I can get it for just a tenner - can't sway me (for the time being at least) to replay it, there's just not enough there for me to revisit it and the rogue lite mode doesn't excite me since I find all these out of context scenarios exactly that, "out of context".

I agree that this shouldn't have been called a "remastered " but instead a "definitive edition" or something along these lines, there's no real/substantial graphical touch-ups, the lost levels are just out of context extras and the no return mode is something that doesn't interest me.
Talking about no return, since they cancelled the factions project, they could have at least put a 2 player co-op mode which would have made the package more desirable.

Anyway, amazing, amazing game, it's just that it didn't need to be "remastered" and all the new extras are not enough to entice people to upgrade - personal opinion and all that...

Cheers

I've played about 2h and so far... meh...
The writing, for now, is the biggest issue, it's at the level of a cheap Syfy channel movie.
Is the rest of the game like this?
I would have thought the first 2 hours is a good indicator of the game. You should be through the main gate at this point and into Seattle. In which case the game is pretty much opened up to you from a gameplay perspective and there isnt so many cut scenes as the game has already set up the reason for the journey.

There are bits of cringe for me and some of the set pieces dont do it for me. But that aside I think its great in so many other ways, that overall I love it.

I thought you were going to skip all narrative moments and just play it for the gameplay? Why are you even playing the game when you have the no return mode which only has the game action sequences put together?

I can skip cutscenes, but I can't skip all the talking, there is a lot of dialogue while walking.
I'm playing normal mode, it's the ps4 version. I wanted to make sure I enjoy the gameplay before I spend 10$.

No it gets worse, but the combat encounter gets better and better so it balance.
