The best parts of TLOU were when you played as Ellie, that's when it finally played like a survival game.

Still at the denial stage, give them time.

Joel was the self insert power fantasy so killing that would be bothersome for a lot of people. They couldn't kill Drake but they're gonna punish the shit out of Joel. Make it brutal ND.

It's been in pre production for a long ass time. I mean we pretty much knew that when a follow-up was asked about at the GDC after TLoU came out. I'd say the "lie" is that they didn't know where to take the story after the end of the last one. They knew what they wanted to do, just didn't say it.
