The Last of Us Part II announced

Joel... I'm already a demon.
THEY PLAYED US LIKE A DAMN GUITAR

but when is this though? is there a release window for this game? lol

Sony has not given any release timings for TLOU Part II, Spider-Man, God of War, Detroit, Days Gone and Dreams. Same goes for 2nd/3rd party timed or full exclusives such as Death Stranding and FF7R.

Lots of unknowns.

I hope the combat is adjusted to suit her characteristics. Sneakier, faster and straight for the jugular.

I kinda wished they'd finished Joel's narrative for two thirds of this new game. Switch to Ellie towards the end and setup a 3rd game with full focus on Ellie.

Have to wait and see how they handle it.
Seeing as TLOU itself had a different play style for Elle, I have no doubt this will do the same. Less punching people, more knifing them.

As for narrative, I think Joel's was mostly finished. Anything he does wouldn't be a surprise after the ending if spring, so I think it would be more intresting to focus on Ellie. Honestly, I'd rather have them do totally new characters, or just focus on Ellie rather than Joel and Ellie, but oh well.

You need to take all that you've said back, pretty much. She has the range to sound more mature. Does she sound 14 years old in TLoU pt. I? Maybe not. But when that voice is established as the baseline "14 year old Ellie voice," they need to make 19 year old, grizzled and battered Ellie sound mature in comparison. You're on the losing side of this one, bud.

None of what you just said provides anything even resembling a compelling argument as to why I should "take all that I've said back, pretty much". I don't really want to get back into this inane argument, but what the hell, it's Sunday, and I have the time.

Like I said before, it is demonstrably factual that it's at least plausible for a woman's voice to be essentially mature by 14-15 years of age, so let's get that out of the way.

But beside that there are so many different reason as to why this complaint sounds so ridiculous to me.

Why does she need to sound "comparatively mature"? She already went on a one year hellish trip with Joel in the first game, so really, shouldn't that change have to have happened by the end of the first game? And why can't she look more mature instead? Or act more mature? Why does the word "mature" become synonymous with "a less female-sounding voice" to begin with? Can a woman with a truly girlish voice (which, by the way, she doesn't have, but that aside) not be used to portray serious themes? Clearly they can, because your opinion is based around the notion that the Ellie in the first game somehow sounds "childish".

And maybe the better question is, how in the hell does she not sound "mature"? She sounds like what a 19 year old woman could sound like in the one spoken piece of dialogue. I don't know what you think happens to a woman when she goes through some shit, but it sure as hell isn't her balls dropping.

I played TLOU on the PS3 but by the time i got to the remastered version of it, i wasn't that interested on it. The premise of This part 2 does look interesting though...

It's rather amusing to see the number of commenters on articles correcting websites who keep reporting on the game as "The Last of Us 2"

Kotaku in particular.

Really hyped for this!
Part II is an excellent title, especially considering the game's narrative design which is more akin to a novel than other games.

The attention to detail is insane.

Notice the blood between the finger and the palm.

There is a reflection on the blood. Also, the blood reflects Joel's figure when he enters.

There is dirt in Ellie's fingernails, but there isn't the same quantity of dirt in every fingernail.

There is a reflection of Ellie's fingers on the guitar.

The whole grass of the forest moves. I didn't make a gif, you can see that in a regural quality video.

Joel moves some leaves on the floor with his feet.

Not just those details. Here are more from my previous post:

Th details in the trailer are beyond imagination: Ellie leaving blood stain on the tuning pegs when trying to configure the guitar, the dust coming from the hole of the guitar when she plays it, the guitar parts inside the hole are modeled, the strings of the guitar in spiral shape and even reflecting the world, The neck wound of Ellie open and closes when she sings...
I can't describe real-life details in a sentence. Naughty Dog have all the passion and lust for details that nobody can notice.

I hope you can post some gifs from those details especially the wound when singing. Just insane.

Between all the split views on YT by different channels, TLoU Part II trailer already has over 6 mil views in less than 24 hours.

It's going to be another event game when it comes out which is important for sales now a days. I had people that are not normally into videos games talk about it. Nuts.

My gf enjoyed watching me playing Tlou. Yesterday I put the trailer playing and she had a grin the whole time after that stop sign with the firefly symbol gave away what she was watching. She's not even a gamer.

This franchise is very special for me. I hope we get more sequels.

Honestly, this is a game I could do without. I wasn't a big fan of the first one. I didn't like the stealth and felt the story was a bit of a slog. I'll pass on this one.

Absolutely agree. It's such a mature way of moving forward. I'm more finding amusement in the resistance people are showing in regards to not calling it "The Last of Us 2."

Gamings next popular tattoo.
I find it pretty amazing that they put Ellie's tattoo on a poster, we were pretty much "teased" about the game all those months ago, but none of us knew at the time, and we just chalk the poster at being really cool fan-art, I wonder if they'll use the art for the steel book, that would be cool.

I wonder if the bear claw scratches on that tree means we'll have to contend with dangerous wildlife this time around
That would pretty cool, I can't wait to see the gameplay, I hoped they added more weapons, I loved to see the crossbow from the multiplayer makes it way into the single player.

I'd caught some of the details, but missed a lot of things, too. The difference with the dirt under Ellie's fingernails is incredible.

Annnnd Joel has reflections, Schrodinger's Ghost Joel potentially lives for now!

(I am so sorry, I had to.)

Gamings next popular tattoo.

Ha, absolutely. It looks fantastic, great to see some insight in the process behind it.

Thoughts on trailer:

The reason her hand is shaking is the adrenaline pumping after she just killed everyone in that house. The fact that she whips out a guitar and starts playing with a dead body right in front of her shows that she has gone off the deep end. I think Joel was probably looking for her and fearing the worst, i.e. that she has probable gone to that house and killed everyone. When he walks into the house he knows exactly what has just happened.

Thoughts on how the game might start and play out:

The intro to the game is Ellie going berserk and killing people left and right. She will seem like she is a completely different person than the Ellie from the first game. The player will be confused and will not understand how she has gotten to this point. As the violence dies down, the game will cut to a flash back to a few weeks or months after the first game. Everything will be as we remember. The sun is out, the birds chirping and Ellie is happy. The game will use these flashback to explain, step by step, how the happy Ellie transforms into the cold-blooded killer she is now.

Thoughts on my thoughts? :)

She hasn't gone off the deep end (although no doubt psychologically scarred, as most people in that world likely are), but she's probably playing guitar there as a means of tension relief after murdering people (or to distract herself from having to think about what she did), and channelling whatever hate she's feeling.

I doubt they will use a recurring flashback structure. That doesn't really mesh with the spare narrative style of last of us, and it would be more compelling and economical to have those events implied through dialogue and character without explicitly being shown to us.
