The Last of Us Spoilers

I'm up to the part where I get Ellie to the fireflies in the hospital she's about to go through surgery, is there much left to the game or am I basically finished? Don't spoil me.
Have the giraffes broken into the compound and murdered the doctors yet? If not, you've still got a good hour left in the game.

Does this game have any replay value in the single player campaign?

Depends on what you like playing for I guess.

Chances are you missed a good amount of optional dialogue and artifacts in the first playthrough, even if you're pretty thorough.

The campaign doesn't branch though, so it's up to you to shake things up gameplay-wise. I've played the game on all available difficulty levels when the game launched and they encourage very different styles of play (EASY telling you to light everybody up like a monster and SURVIVOR being a incredibly tense stealth game).

Considering its one of the best games ever made its worth playing at least twice for the story alone.

Cool thanks. But how long is the game in normal difficulty?

Why are people worrying that we haven't seen gameplay? We didn't see the MP until literally a few days before TLOU's release and it turned out to be some of the best MP on PS3

If we're already talking animals:

I was seriously terrified that I would have to fight the monkeys in the university. I was so glad when I didn't have to.

The last company you should doubt when it comes to tech is Naughty Dog, they will get this bastard running well and it will look great, its what they do best.

If this was Bethesda re doing Skyrim id be worried

I replayed it twice immediately and I'm going to replay it again. For me, I went from normal without listen mode to survivor. The game changed pretty dramatically.

The thing that gives it replay value is the depth of the combat system. After your first playthrough you've gotten really good at the mechanics and using all the tricks you've learned in the campaing from the get go second time around makes the earlier encounters much more satisfying.

I'd say that a difficulty hike is probably necessary for the second time to be satisfying though. Fortunately, they've got normal, hard, survivor, grounded, so that's probably not going to be an issue.

That said, it's a pretty long game anyway. Between 15-20 first time around, not counting the DLC. Which is easily 2 hours.

Have they said if the PS3 Season Pass will carry over to the PS4 version for the content not included on the disk? Or will that content be free for the PS4 version as a later download?

Marvel

could never
I hope to see a big GAF presence in the MP side of things. I hear a lot of good things about it being similar to Gears of War 1 in a lot of ways.

Any ex Gear Heads picking this up feel free to PSN add me away for this.

OutlawOcelot

Just add a message that says "gaf" and I'll auto add.

Huge Gearhead, will gladly play with any gaffer in the MP. Will add you later.

Ha you scrubs can keep your Listen Mode off. I don't need heart attacks every 5 seconds in Grounded Mode from a random clicker walking around the corner behind me. :p

I didn’t want to make another thread.......but is anyone in here interested in joining a boosting session to get the 8 silver DLC trophies for the multiplayer for the PS3 version? We need 8 people and already have 4, so another 4 is needed. We’re gonna do Survivors and let team 2 run in the middle of the map and then let each person from team 1 get 4 kills each round. That will happen for the 8 maps and then the roles will reverse. It’s gonna happen at 8:00am Melbourne time - which is exactly 10 hours from this post. Let me know ASAP if you want in.

Listen mode completely breaks the immersion IMO. It should be permanently turned off on all modes except Easy (for those just interested in the story, or for timid little girls....aka Wynnebeck)

j/k

Only 3 spots left now. Send me a message on the PS3 if you want to join – or better yet, just message me when we start the session and I’ll squeeze you in.

Well except for the insults, I agree with this statement. The game is greatly enhanced by the lack of listen mode.

So having never played this once, what I'm reading is that I should play it on hard and with this listen mode turned off. This about right?

I'm assuming the game is then scary ala survival horror too?

lol I normally don't scare easy in real life, but games like Outlast and Penumbra freak me out.

i wouldn't say scary. but it adds some tension to the game. turning off the listen mode makes you pay more attention to your surroundings and how the AI behave. I think the grounded mode is more intense in regards to being scary

It's much more of a third person shooter/stealth game than a horror game. I've beaten the game three times on normal difficulty. Don't even fancy trying hard. Hard/survivor/grounded difficulties, first and foremost, deny the player ammo and supplies. Call me a noob but I really enjoy blasting enemies with the shotgun or getting a nice headshot with the rifle or stealth-ing a section with the bow or setting a group on fire with a molotov.. That's what's fun to me. I do enjoy the challenge of higher difficulties for certain games, but TLoU isn't one of them. And it's not like you are forced to use listen mode.

TL;DR: Playing TLoU on harder difficulties mostly seems to deny the player the very supplies which make the game more fun for me.

I respect that. I find it more fun not knowing what's around the corner!

Being short on supplies made the game much better for me. Different strokes etc...
