The last PS5 games and first PS6 games

The rest of this generation is pretty much set for PlayStation 1st party games. We have an idea of what could be on PS6.

Ending with Naughty Dog and Santa Monica Studios is a solid way to go for PS5.

Even though we know the first couple years of PS6 will be crossgen there will be a few that are actually exclusive. Does this list look accurate to you?

Housemarque Saros -2026

Insomniac Games Wolverine 2026

Bungie: Marathon -2026

Arch System Works - Marvel Tokon 2026

Guerrilla Games Horizon Online 2026

San Diego Studio MLB 2026

Haven Studios New IP - 2027

Naughty Dog Intergalactic -2027

Firesprite Horror game - 2027

teamLFG New IP - 2027

Santa Monica Studio - New IP - 2027

PS6
Insomniac Venom -2027

Insomniac Spider-Man 3 -2028

Guerrilla Horizon 3 2028

Media Molecule New IP - 2028

Team Asobi Astro Bot - 2028

SMS God of War -2028

Bend Studio New IP -2029

Bluepoint Games New IP - 2029

Dark Outlaw Games New IP -2029

Polyphony Digital GT8- 2030

Kojima Productions - Physint 2030

Sucker Punch Productions New IP -2031

Insomniac X-Men -2031

Sony teached me to not care about their next gen system with the switch from PS4 to PS5, this will be even worse next gen... cross gen it is from now on, thats what they teached me.

With diminishing it's becoming more about scalability now.

Dev costs mean long cross-gen periods too.

Sad, but unavoidable.

Come on, Gran Turismo 8 in 2030? It's either Q4 2027 or Q1 2028 at the ABSOLUTE most.
I'm personally thinking it will be their December 2027 game after the console launches a month earlier with Astro Bot 2 and Venom, and the Bloodborne remake.

There is no more first or last. There is only eternal crossgen from now on.
I mean, there is obviously a first (as in first PS6, PS7 game), and there will also be a last at some point (as in last PS5, PS6 game), probably WAY earlier than most people believe based on Sony's actions this generation.
If you're mad with the perception of eternal cross-gen, it's probably not with Sony, but rather with third-party publishers.

This isn't really all that bad when you consider that all cross-gen games in 2028 will be games that are matured on the PS5, with engines that are getting the most out of it. And then in the PS6 version they could add path-tracing to any of their games for people that will upgrade.

All that matters.

Making new consoles comes at increased prices compared to the previous gen and smaller gains in tech.
We are jumping from a 400$ (now 500$) console to a 600$ console and the visual upgrades will be less significant than the jump from the previous gen.
It will soon come to a point where making consoles is unsustainable and the only solution is game streaming (as much as it sucks sometimes), hence eternal crossgen since any device with an Internet connection can play any game.

The last PS5 game will probably be 2030.

The last PS3 game (Shakedown: Hawaii) came out in 2020.

The last PS4 game will likely be 2027

The last PS5 game will likely be 2034.

PlayStations tend to get 14 years worth of support (latter games mainly being indies and sports updates).

None of those games are interesting me except anything from Bluepoint and Asobi. I loved TLOU1 and God of War 2018 but the sequels have become woke and boringly mainstream. Playstation is almost dead.

And with the handheld and PC there are going to be very few exclusive PS6 games. Probably only one / two from Asobi and maybe Bluepoint. The rest will be on PC and Xbox with Magnus.

The last few PS5 games will be whenever Sony ends releasing them for the platform...so probably 2030/2032. They don't stop as soon as the PS6 release.
All those games in the OP are probably crossgen, which is why people saying PS5 gen will end up as the worst one makes no sense.

That $400 console was a Digital Edition that was soon sold for $450. PS6 Digital Edition will probably be sold for $550, and I don't know what you mean about making consoles being unsustainable.
R&D costs? The solution for that will SURELY not be game streaming, mind you.

Production costs increase with every node shrink. If the minimum cost of the ps6 is 550/600, that means a 150/200 increase from last gen (launch price) while the tech jump is not significant (upscaling and RT).
What will the price of the PS7 be? 800 at launch?
Soon it will become too expensive for consumers and the only affordable option will be streaming.

Grand Theft Auto VI
Final Fantasy VII Part 3: Retard
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Ass
Witcher 4: The Wrath of Tiber Septim
Stellar Blade 2: Raven's Revenge
Elder Scrolls VI: Damn Elves
Resident Evil 1 Re-Remake

PS7 will probably be $650 (Digital Edition) and $700 (Standard Edition), which will not look as bad in 2034 as it looks now.
Also, SIE not being able to keep up with R&D costs is a new one. You guys find something new to concern about every week at this point.

What dafuq are you talking about?
I'm stating that node shrinks get more expensive and consumers pay that price increase. It's a obvious statement. Where the hell did i suggest that Sony couldn't keep up with the costs?

Cross generational games isn't a problem, ps5 may be great late, those people are essential to Sony, I personally would just release a new console cut off life support from the old one and let the new one rip.

The obvious statement is why I don't understand why you think people should be expecting $400 consoles for several years to come.
Trust me, people will be able to keep up with $700 consoles in 9 years, everything will not cost the same forever and they won't also be paid the same forever.

Hm, not many Sony first party games that captures my interest going forward, except Saros (which is among my most anticipated games).
Intergalactic should be awesome too.
Hopefully a Bloodborne remake in there at some point.

95% of gamers are casual gamers, they don't understand the tech behind things and they don't understand the price increase.
We saw that already with the ps5 and it's one of the reasons why ps4 still has a considerable install base.

Most people understand this simple thing when price increases are happening literally everywhere.

No, that happened because PS4 had a very large install base to begin with. This is not coming from a 85M userbase like PS3, it's 30M more than that.
That 115M userbase was never going to upgrade overnight, it's a gradual process for the entire generation IF its successor is selling at the same pace (and it did).

Man, that list just seems so mid to me overall unless there are some big surprises.

Unless they pull of some great gains with AI neural rendering or something, the cross-gen period is probably going to be even longer next-gen.

We don't need UE6 before we experience the nice things about UE5.

Well I'm wondering if the next generation will be more of a break, with massive neural processing units being a key feature and allowing game ML performance unlike anything current gen can do at hyper efficient perf/watt doing it

That computationally efficient high ML performance may allow making games completely unlike what we run now, not just scripts mimicking AI, but actual intelligence and dynamism, and just AI characters is only one potential use of ML

Like if you see this as just the start of the line, and years of dev and hardware advancement on top of this:

Maybe yes, but PS6 is using AMD again. No Nvidia wizardry in next gen for Sony and MS.

T0minator T0minator should update the OP with this.
Bend and BluePoint are missing and will probably be either 2028/2029.
