yeah, that's kinda cool
but hopefully we're getting more Trails game (aside from Cold Steel 1 and 2 of course)
i don't want this series to be the "next Suikoden"
A mythical fucking dragon smashing up the Bose market, Lila in a coma, the orchards in the village getting burnt down, Agates' rematch with Lowe, getting bodied, Tita stepping up to the plate ending with Morgan crashing the party! And now I'm about to get on an airship to watch the army try and shot that bitch down. I can foresee that's not going to go well!
Finished the game last night but was too tired to post final impressions. Overall the game was fantastic and well worth the investment of over 100 hours between FC and SC.
The most impressive thing about the series is the effort and attention put into building a convincing world populated by people who have lives of their own without revolving around the main characters or the main plot. It makes world ending schemes all the more devious when the world actually feels like one you want to protect.
The music and designs are also really good, and I think the battle system has a lot of potential. Unfortunately the gameplay mechanics are underused and many of the dungeons feel very repetitive. Given how long the game is, that can get pretty annoying. The best parts of the game are the chapters with a lot of side quests in a town and they each help develop a side character or a part of the setting. The parts of the game I disliked the most were the ones which had tons of dungeon crawling because the dungeon designs were so lazy and bad. If only the dungeons were as well designed as the towns.
I really appreciate how SC had a shorter but more conclusive ending compared to FC because by the end of the final chapter I wss totally ready for the game to just end. Another longass epilogue would have been overkill. The story scenes between the final bosses and right after it were awesome though. Can't wait to see how some of those teases develop in future games.
Chapter 5's conflict starts up pretty abruptly. It's like one moment you're doing quests for the guild, and then
the next moment there's a damn dragon on the market roof. And meanwhile I see the Agate and Tita train is advancing forward. They make it feel pretty cute though, Agate almost seems at a loos on what to do when it comes to her.
where you're visiting each of the towers, on the second one I'm forced to use Zane...which I haven't used in a while. He's level 55 while everyone else is in the 70s. This should be fun...
Finally beat it. It was a great experience. I really enjoyed going back to help the people you met in FC and how they've changed for the best or the worst. I don't think there's any other game like this with that much attention to characters and plot details. I do feel the last dungeon dragged on a bit. I felt the final fights lasted forever and each of my characters were doing 2000+ each turn.
Olivier is truly the best character in the game. So many screencaps in steam haha.
I do feel the ending is a bit cliffhanger-y. *Ending spoiler*
Kevin is actually more than he pretended to be and you don't even face off with the Grandmaster and Campanella.
Going to start Cold Steel now. I have a feeling it's going to spoil stuff for the 3rd/Zero/Ao :S
Olivier talks a lot about Erebonia and how *SC spoilers*
the Imperial academy is searching for a dragon too and how Chancellor Osborne might be working with Ouroboros.

Visited the casino in Ruan.. and stayed there for like 45 mins lol. Went from 100 medals to 3300 playing blackjack, wanted to get all the prizes.
I'm usually like "meh" when an RPG has a casino since it's always slots, roulette, and poker. But this one had blackjack, something I actually find fun.

I'm the same way, I normally don't care for the Poker option. But I quickly learned that Poker is actually extremely lucrative compared to blackjack, because a pair is worth x2 of your bet, not x1 (which would be less ridiculous), and you can chain bets together to get a much bigger total. I got the cash to get all the prizes very quickly once I switched over to Poker.

I spent the first chapter being a bit sloppy because I was so used to Estelle being a CP powerhouse thanks to her gladiator gear. Then I hit chapter 2.

I bought 100 medals, hedged my bets a bit at roulette (betting on like odds and the last third of the numbers) until I had a few hundred medals, then I hit blackjack, betting 100 every time and doubling down when things were looking good. It took me 20 minutes to get the 6 card bonus, which is like x200. This and triple sevens seem easily attainable given their huge payouts.
God damn this game and its side-quest time limitations. So Chapter 8...
I hadn't visited Grancel before delivering all the thingamajings to the bracer guilds. Then the game suddenly shifts to high gear as I'm on my way to Grancel and I'm left with two monster hunts "failed" without ever even knowing they were there to be made. -_-
Oh well, I already got bugged out of that one monster hunt earlier in the game, so it's not like I was doing a full BP run either way. Just annoys me a bit.
it is a bit surprising that the game never acknowledges that you looking for his messages in FC. Even a moment of Estelle realizing that those were Bleublanc's riddles all along would be nice.
Finally finished this last night. Took me slightly under 65 hours. Overall, I loved it (but that's really no surprise). The last chapter was really satisfying in so many ways. Time for Cold Steel!
Seig gets sent to deliver a letter to the royal army. If I had Kloe in my party, would I have been unable to use Kaempfer during this period?
To be fair,
it is a bit surprising that the game never acknowledges that you looking for his messages in FC. Even a moment of Estelle realizing that those were Bleublanc's riddles all along would be nice.
I can't remember (even though I did it last night) but I'm pretty sure I could still use it.
And on the second point, I never even realised myself until it was mentioned in this thread so I guess I can't blame Estelle for not noticing either haha.

Probably too late to mention it now but low-level characters get shit loads of experience from higher-level mobs. Shouldn't take too long to get him to a comparable level as the rest by the time you get to the boss.

Estelle does mention it at some point... I want to say during their 2nd meeting?
They do allude to it at the start of the missing sign quest in chapter 2.
Estelle or Kilika says something like "it's that phantom thief again", which is precisely when I realized Bleublanc was the riddle asshole from FC.
I felt stupid when it dawned on me because when Bleublanc introduces himself in chapter 1, I'm pretty sure he calls himself a phantom thief. He then goes on to explain how he was in Ruan when the shit with the mayor went down, which totally fits the fact the riddle guy was in Ruan too. Not to mention how full of himself he already sounded. ;-)
These details make me realize how utterly engrossed I am with the world and its characters.
The number of lines of dialogue for NPCs in this game is utterly ridiculous, I'm on chapter 8 and I haven't been able to find an NPC which isn't affected by the game's recent events, even a couple of NPCs in the lighthouse which you probably won't even visit have something to say about it. It really brings the game to life. The amount of work which went into this game and its translation must have been insane.

Either connect your PC to your television via HDMI or buy a Steam Link and connect it to your home network via ethernet.
I used a Link to play Trails and it worked decently. There were some bizarre framerate problems in certain areas of the game that I simply wouldn't get on my regular monitor.

Is it possible to stream to my Xbox One via the PC? I'm sorry but I always gloss over this stuff when it first gets announced. That steam link looks like a serious option though.
