I don't know what the BotW amiibo unlock.

To all of you that haven't done the dungeons–I highly suggest you do. At least the Rito dungeon. The reward you get for beating the dungeon is a real game changer when it comes to exploration. It'll save you so much time and frustration.

I've checked the options, but when I try to enable amiibo support it tells me to go away and do it later. So I'm guessing I have to do something in-game to trigger that?

I think you just have to get a little further? Do you have the paraglider? I think I was able to use mine after I got the paraglider.

I have it. I mean the main use it I have for it is when information isn't readily available and to have the huge map with korok seeds and shrines handy dandy. Not to mention tips on side quests and quick images on solutions to shrines if you can't figure it out. There's no guarantee every website has all of the information so it's nice for that regard.

It has food recipees too so I can see which ones are worth making with what I have

I might just pick up the guide. This all seems very helpful

Zora's Domain - Divine Beast spoilers

I was just watching footage and I noticed that to open the gate to access the map of the Divine Beast there was water underneath it... I didn't noticed and instead used Stasis and hit the door enough so when stasis broke I could pass.

To defeat Waterblight Ganon I destroyed the ice cubes he throw at me using a speed potion + arrows and I discovered in this thread that you can use Cryonis to break them. I also defeated it using only Shock Arrows.

The way this game allows you to not only explore the world in different ways but solve it's puzzles is quite magnificent.

Other puzzle that can be cheesed is the one in which you have to
move a complex mechanism to light 3 torches using 1 already lit but there is water underneath and one of the sconces is actually a vault from which water flows so you have to be careful unless you want to get out of the shrine and start all over again!!!

I did it using 3 Fire Arrows sadlkasdl;kas'dl;kas;

Is there information (from npc's or otherwise) that explain what happened at some of the ruins you come across?

Coming across old fort/castle and battle ruins are cool, but I would love to learn more about what happened there.

Like one big question I have is (second village)
How did they manage to stop the mass of destroyed Guardians at the wall of Fort Hateno?
or what I just found yesterday in the Northeast
the ruins of a citadel with cannons high above the surrounding area, covered with corruption, along with high level enemies and a Sheikah tower

Really cool places to come across. Would be sad if there's no backstory discoverable about what the places were and/or how things went down.
There seems to be bits and pieces here and there. Once we're all done we should head to the spoiler thread and compare notes.

Any clues on how to get a
Farosh
Scale?
I know where he is and when he appears so that's not an issue.

The
Fort Hateno battle backstory
can be found, it's not exactly hidden either.

I haven't come across the other, though I would like to know as well.

did they just do an update or something? had some craaaazy frame halts this morning (like, full stop for 6 seconds) during an early fight. And just now, it appears to have soft locked when I tried to switch weapons. :'(. Wii-U version.

*upends table in disbelief

why didn't I think of that.

Other than Epona and Wolf Link, the rewards aren't really anything special. All the clothing has default armor values and the weapons are just upper mid tier stuff you can easily find laying around harder areas. The armor is also annoying to upgrade since each stage of the upgrade requires star pieces. And they clash horribly with the reds and blues of the normal game clothing.

Dataminers found references to "Skyward" "Majora" and "Twilight" Amiibo in the game files. Maybe there's a second wave of 30th anniversary ones on the way?

The Twilight Amiibo appears to just be Smash Link. As far as the game is concerned (with regards to rewards), he's Twilight Link. He comes with full Twilight Gear

Had no idea amiibo's give you costumes! Sucks about Toon Link, he goes for a pretty penny these days.

What's the version number on the initial load screen?

Thanks!
He's gone for now
so I'll head to a nearby stable, stock up and try again.

I'd like to point out a bug I was getting when doing similar
every time he approached me my arrows would go straight through him and there would be a blood moon which would reset the instance and remove him. turning the game on and off gets rid of this bug. just something to keep in mind.

Yeah, I completed two at this point and they're not really dungeons. I don't think they're better than traditional Zelda dungeons, but that doesn't make them worse either. Just different.

Would have liked to see some proper dungeons, but the shrines hit a lot of that for me, especially the bigger shrines.

I'm shocked at how large some of the Shrines are. One in Central Hyrule was, like, 6 or 7 puzzles, and some fights? It was some good shit.

Help. I'm inside (DB)
van Ruta (the elephant divine beast)
I've opened two markers or whatever they are. Seem stuck on the third?
Looks stasis related inside a large wheel. I can stasis a largw ball and on the other side some blocks. I smacked the ball but it didn't stay in place.
what is it that I'm not thinking about?

Haha, that was me. Broke two weapons doing it, then I realized the obvious solution. :P

What makes a water wheel move? How do elephants drink water?

look at the map. closely.

Protip for farming critters (mainly crickets and lizards from what i can tell):

You can pretty much spawn critters anywhere by cutting tall grass, even if it looks like there is nothing there. Charge a spin attach and then quickly crouch and grab any insets that spawn under the grass.

Very nice.

This works for rocks, too. Rocks are really likely to have lizards/crabs under them. Pick up every rock you see and mash A for easy critters.

On the one hand, I feel a little better that the rewards aren't all that great. On the other, it would be nice to have the option to unlock some of this stuff without having to buy a bunch of figures I don't want or need cluttering up my apartment.
