I completed the game on Monday with 60 shrines, MS, and 100+ korok seeds.

Days later, I am still completely obsessed with the game. I'm now up to 79 shrines without using a guide / shrine scanner, and hopeful I will be able to get towards 100 before having to rely on other means to find the more well hidden ones.

Some of the shrine side quests I've completed though are on-par with the general story quality, and I keep finding new things to love about this game. Honestly, the story was pretty basic but bad-ass, but I'm now thinking that it is really a small part of what makes this game the ultimate adventure experience.

All I can hope is that Nintendo can pump out another game using this engine in 3-4 years. Hell, it will be great if the season pass greatly expands on the amazing world they've already created.

I've only played for two hours today and I feel like I got nothing done and such much done. Switching the HUD to pro mode and just picking a direction to wander in is amazing. I found a bunch of shrines and koroks, got killed by a guardian, saw a
huge lightning dragon
, got a sweet flaming greatsword, recalled two memory cutscenes, and so much more! I don't even want to advance the main story because there's so much other stuff to do that I can't seem to ignore.

So I'm doing the elephant thing. And I think the game is bugged or something.
I have hit the 4 red points with shock arrows and this is still going on. I just keep going around and around. Go up a waterfall, no red spots to shoot, land and deal with the ice things.

Help!

Are you sure you hit all 4? When I did it, the stupid prince kept sending me up waterfalls I'd already been up, so I had to keep swimming around until he finally got it right.

I hit them all for sure. Maybe it's because I shot at one next to the waterfall I went up?

This is 3 hearty radishes and 2 food items (in this case, 2 hylean herbs). Insanely powerful.

I did 3 hearty radishes + 2 big hearty radishes for full recovery + 21 temp hearts :P 5 normal hearty radishes might have the same effect

I feel a bit cheaty with the (gear spoilers)
elemental swords. I'm in the desert now and temperature isn't a problem because I can just equip an ice sword or a fire sword. Better not get into a fight though.

You can just land on the back of the titan and shoot from there. Sadly I only found that out after I had already hit two of the spots, but it'll save a minute or two in further playthroughs.

I think this best sums up why I love this game.

My wife and I were playing last night. We got to a tower, which was surrounded by shards of ice. I figured out that I probably needed fire arrows, so I thought I should warp to Kakariko village and buy some. As I was leaving the arrow shop with my new fire arrows, I thought I should go see Hetsu outside of Kakariko and turn in some Korok seeds. After a few turn-ins, he informs me that he's leaving for the Lost Woods. So I go to the Lost Woods and finish doing my turn-ins, but in the process, I get three sidequests for the "Korok Trials." So I go and do those.

An hour and a half later, I turn to my wife and say, "Oh yeah, we never went back and finished that tower, did we?"

Wooooooooooooooow, currently watching some let's plays and they were doing the shrine where you learn about the horizontal Cryo near the first stable and the intended solution was to cryo from afar whereas I climbed that shit and stasis'ed the ball up and over lol.

I liked the shrine with the puzzle with the spiked chain balls. Conventional wisdom says to swing them to move past them. Nope. I just looped them around the top piece they were hanging from.

Haha, the physics of the game are simply awesome, I love all these different approaches that the game enables! :D

There's some shrines that mean for you to cleverly navigate through laser grids by hiding behind cover, but if you have
Stasis+ you can just freeze them and walk right past.

I think this highlights what I love most about this game. Most things that common sense would say should work, actually does. You're really only limited by your imagination in this world, because there are multiple ways to solve a lot of the puzzles.

There's also
10 luminous stones for a diamond
which is a bit easier to gather if you know where to find them.

That's the prize? Awesome! I have the stones, but haven't gone back to the guy yet.

Did that one today and was getting really pissed when I couldn't get past them. They don't follow a clear path when you swing them since the physics are really sensitive.
Then I looked up and it finally clicked.

People have been playing 3 heart Zelda since the series started so I can see it.
That's true, but this is also the only Zelda game where common enemies can regularly one-hit TKO you at 3 hearts, LOL. 3 heart runs were necessary in the older games if you wanted them to feel challenging. That's not the case here, but obviously the great thing about BotW is everyone can play however they want.

Hours ago I finished one of those Test of Strength Shrines and got an amazing vest with a climbing speed buff out of it. This morning I stumbled across the Extreme Test of Strength (I'm playing in Japanese, so it might have a different name in English), and I was so excited to see what was going to be waiting in the chest for me after breaking half my gear against that SOB:
a random battleaxe with 13 strength :(

For the life of me I just cannot figure out how the tracker works. Got it tracking treasure chests and it's beeping like crazy but I can never see them. Are they sometimes buried underground or something?!

The shrine at the second village...
i ended up flipping the controller upside down and used the flat surface of the puzzle LOL

Yeah rewards are a little weird like that. Like, the
dueling peaks shrines
as an example.
One has a 12 strength poking spear and the other has a 36 strength 2 handed Katana
.

Still haven't topped the
Edge of Duality
tho. And I'm about 40 shrines in.

Read the thread about playing this in pro hud mode. Man am I a believer now and I never mess with huds in games. It's so much more immersive.

This game is just soooo GOOD! My god! So many a-ha moments without it having to explain anything. So many personal discoveries just out of curiosity. Using arrows to light lamppost instead of finding wooden material...fighting the a Hinux and it adapting to my arrows so instead I lit the ground on fire and he started trying to pat the flames out...flipping over one of the shrine puzzles to easily bypass navigating a ball through a maze...so much more! Its just fluid exploration. True open world. I'm so impressed. So impressed by this game.

What's the tease? Just that they show it? Because you can get it pretty easily and quick. Unless I'm thinking of the wrong thing.

It's dark and foggy and then you see a shield guarded by the forest at the end of the path and it's just a rusty shield used to progress the puzzle.

This is crazy. Didn't know it worked this way. Will try to save some of mine for this situation,
