That and the
movable sections of the divine beasts
combined makes me excited about the possibilities for future dungeons.
In Zelda games ? Perhaps. But if you are talking across all games then nothing here touches FFXV's secret dungeon in terms of level design mindfuckery from changing orientation and such. It's frustrating, it's challenging and incredibly long...I loved it

The temples/dungeons are too small :\

I love what they were doing but they all just feel way too short. And due to the number of shrines, those are pretty hit or miss as well as far as engagement. A lot of the time they're just so simple that I wish that they'd cut the number of shrines by a quarter and just make bigger shrines.

Decided to tackle a new area yesterday and went to the desert and holy shit at the chain of events that I experienced from the bridge to the first stable.

1)
Fought a Hinox sleeping in the middle of the bridge but he launched me out of it and found a shrine!!! Yay!?
2)
Advanced a bit more and started to fight some bokoblins along the road.

3) Decided to go up using all those plataforms and found a
group of gorons doing resistance training and I actually concocted some elixirs before hand so I managed to pass the test and wow at another shrine

4) Random dude wanted me to
sell my white horse to him
FUCK. OFF.

5)
I was thrown a bunch of rocks and shit and while I was trying to clear a path using Magnesis so I could pass with my horse a bunch of things attacked me out of nowhere.

6)
Wolf hunt in packs, Link!

7)
SHRINE!!!! STABLE!!!

Also I found my 2nd Gerudo in the whole game and I have to say that I am in love with their designs and attitudes.

Shoutout to the art designers who gave them more than one body type so they weren't exclusively a race of toned supermodels.

Minus points for the blackface joke at Kara Kara Bazaar.

Thanks for the replies guys, makes me a little sad that
the dungeon bosses aren't that hard
but I guess that's ok. So what are the toughest enemies in the game? Again, I have 5 hearts so I can get one shot by almost any thing, but still looking form something to be like "HOLY SHIT THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE"

I did the
desert dungeon boss first and it absolutely fucked my shit up. I'm sure I missed a mechanic or something, but it was definitely a lot of fun fighting it that way and finally beating it even though I probably made it artificially difficult somehow.

Isn't it an amazing feeling when you finish a shrine, and you have no idea whether you did it "right"?

I'm having the most fun in a game when I'm not entirely sure if I'm doing it "right" or not -- Be it puzzle solutions or figuring out where to go or whatever. When it's laid out too obviously and the designer's hand is too apparent I just find it boring. I want to be the one in control.

BOTW is mostly good about this (with some notable exceptions).

The bosses are all about learning to dodge and get a flury attack. They also can be brute forced if you have great equipment/can survive their attacks.

So I decided to check out what those octo balloons do. I attached one to a stone and it flew away, lol. Cool stuff. But for what would you use this? It's cool to see how it can make things float, but why? :)

Ghetto magnetism on stuff that isnt metallic. ie: ballon up a tnt barrel next to you, blow the barrel away with a deku leaf, pop the ballons or wait for them to expire on top of a monster camp

I figured out that you're supposed to
drag the lightning rods to it, but I never figured out what to do after it stops spawning the rods and just bumrushes you while electrified. I cheesed that part, big time.

Still can't parry to save myself. It hasn't been necessary so far. Even in
the elephant divine beast boss
I was able to do backflips and ice blocks as well as eating lots of food every few seconds and eventually win. At some point, my inability to do them will probably very regretful.

Mini Boss spoilers. So what is your guys go to strategy against
Molduga
?
I get on a rock and lure him with bombs and blast him out of the sand then wail on him.
It honest feels like cheating lol, I'm curious if there is a more legitimate way to fight him. Also does he drop 2 treasure chests every time?

That's not even true. Other than thunderbird ganon the bosses basically seem designed to miss you. I did two of the bosses without even taking damage and it has nothing to do with flurry mode because I rarely even trigger it. I never got good at it because the game never made me.

The hardest fights haven't been dungeon bosses. They've been major tests of combat or world encounters that just turned out hard for whatever reason.

I think the single hardest enemies are the centaur dudes.

Well, 12 hours in and loving it so far. Haven't done much in the way of quests but I did travel all around the place and discovered loads of shrines and towers already. Think I got 24 or 25 shrines completed now, got 7 hearts now (plus 1 stamina upgrade).

Thing is, I still die a lot. There's loads of mobs that 1 shot me, as well as loads of obstacles I can't yet overcome. But I have to see if I can get some gear or something, as I'm still running around in the starter outfit.

That was me with a shrine near the Great Plateau. It was a puzzle where you had to move around climbable cubes to create a ladder you can climb to reach a higher platform.

My solution:
The platform with the goal area is a little too high up with just those cubes alone, so I assumed you were supposed to make use of the thin rectangle tucked away on a slightly lower platform in the corner. After spending like five minutes trying to arrange it properly, I gave up and instead just brought up all the cubes I used to climb up to that elevated platform and stacked them, then paraglided to the end lol.

I also was able to finish a shrine in northwest Hyrule Field that should have made you put some spheres into some holes, but with proper timing on a spring platform you can actually completely bypass that. I thought that was what you are supposed to do and was wondering why it was so hard to time my jump, so I was surprised the goal was right in front of me when I finally made it. I actually went back and did it the "correct" way lol.

Btw if you guys didn't already know you can kind of double jump by pressing ZL+A mid air. Basically you start your shield surf animation and gain a bit of height.

Bosses should have had unique designs rather than the same boss with different elemental attacks. I would wager the final boss will be quite a bit disapponting.

Is there any trick to getting the
dragons
to appear? I only need
one more scale for the spring of courage. I got a horn from the lightning dragon last time I saw it, and haven't been able to get it to appear in the areas I saw it again.

that's how I beat him.

They spawn at certain times and in certain areas. If you check the Compendium it will give you a good idea.

I think it's used in a side quest at least.

Oh that's interesting, I really like this things the developer thought of.

Here's someone who was inventive:

I wonder if it can be used to lift explosive barrels for some inventive usage?

And now I gotta try all of that myself because that sounds awesome. There are so many possibilities in this game and I forget that sometimes. In most games you can't do all that stuff and now you can, I really gotta adjust my way of thinking on that, haha.

That's actually the first one I'm going to do! I think the only thing I struggled with so far have been
Major Tests of Strength
because I would run out of gear and then die. Once I got weapons in the 20's it becomes a lot easier.

I don't think I ever felt the progress of your power more in a game than when I had an spontaneous encounter with a
Lynel
in the mountains and decided to tackle it full frontal! Still quite scary, but really doable compared to the first encounter!
Also parrying the guardians' lasers feels SO damn satisfying!

Careful, they won't spawn if you're too close to their spawn point.
