Happy to be a source of hilarity! Never occurred to me, heh.

Oh I don't really mean to say that you (and other people who did it the hard way) were specifically the source of hilarity. I think it's at least partly the game design that's the source.

It kind of reminds me of the boss in Super Metroid where you can use the grappling hook for a quick win or do it the slow hard grinding way, except I thought in this case the easy way was more obvious.

Ok. I have 4 heart container pieces left. One of them is the one the Goron gives you for drawing on the wall.

Problem is, can that opportunity be missed? He's not behind the sealed grounds where I thought he was meant to be.

Done with Skyward Sword! The last boss fight was awesome. I decided
not to save at the end for hero mode in case I ever wanted to go back to collect the remaining gratitude crystals and heart pieces.
This wasn't the best Zelda game like I'd hoped for(MM is downright awesome!), but it's far from being bad.

Got the game over Xmas, and so far I'm ridiculously contented. I love it!

I noticed, due to this thread, that there were some references to a Buddhist fable in one of the dungeons. That was a really interesting moment, and I thought it was well done and an interesting thing to do. Has anyone compiled a list of literary references the game includes? I felt like, knowing that fable ahead of time, I had a greater appreciation for it when I encountered the reference in game.

The Beetle is godly, especially when carrying bombs. I also went to the 'death from above!' line. Good stuff.

I always use it to scout out the room/terrain! Sometimes, in a dungeon, I'll walk into a room and feel almost overwhelmed by the amount of possibilities. My little mechanical scout helps me narrow things down quickly. XD

I feel like they took a real creative risk, letting you fly the beetle pretty much all over creation. They had to make sure everything you could happen to look at looked good.

I also got Pipit and Karane together! Tee hee... I wonder if Pipit's money troubles are ever going to come up? He's got a tough family situation, it looks like.
I also don't appreciate how Pipit's mom is always coming on to me. Cougar alert! It's like a porn set up!

I don't think it's missable. Where are you in the game? I didn't get this heart piece until later in the game so maybe you have to trigger some event or cross some line in your progression before he shows up there. Once he is there, he seems to be there for good, for me at least.
Unless he disappears once the Goddess Statue descends, never checked.

She doesn't give a fuck that she is wasting Pipit's tuition, she just wants Link to stop by and hit her with the Bellows. Lots of innuendo in the localization between that and everything the Item Check girl says to you.

You can't actually fly it *everywhere*. There are spots where they've put up some kind of invisible barrier beyond which the beetle will fail quickly.

OK, so I'm finally sinking my teeth into this game and really enjoying a lot of what it's been offering so far. I had to readjust a bit from ingrown habits I developed playing Zelda games and Wii games in general, but after that first readjustment, it's been a pretty smooth experience. That being said, can I just talk about something really silly right now?

The Paper sidequest/story amused me so much. There was no way I couldn't give it to Ghost Hand. Also, I love how the characters in Skyloft all start having alternate things to look out for after a time, it's been fun just coming back and running around town aimlessly only to see another sidequest come up. Gotta admit though, I still don't have the geography down like I would with other Zeldas. I think I'll fix that in the next session I have.

Just did my first Silent Realm and I really liked it. What a great way to re-explore an area. It had just the right level of challenge. Took me 3 tries.

I imagine they are polarizing quests, but it may be my favorite part so far.

Thee has to be a medal to increase the drop rates of a monster's body parts, right? Because they're really freaking low and trying to get just 5 claws to upgrade both of my shields is taking too long :|

I upgraded all my shields pretty easily just going through the game.

I think you want a Treasure Medal, though. Comes out of a Goddess Chest.

Beat the game today, and I was really satisfied by the ending.

I made the Impa/Grannie connection a while ago, so that wasn't much of a surprise. It was still touching though when Zelda ran to embrace her. I loved the friendship that developed between Link and Groose. Never would've seen that coming from how the game started. My favorite part was seeing Zelda's journey during the credits. That was a nice touch.

My only complaint is the same I have with every Zelda game. I'd love to keep exploring/playing in the world AFTER saving it. So I have to leave the save file as is with the final boss always remaining unbeaten. But that's how it's always been, so I didn't expect that to change.

Overall, the game was really fun. I put 47 hours in, which I think is the longest I've spent with any Zelda game. They really packed it full of stuff to do, and I never felt the backtracking was tedious except
when you have to return to the Forest Temple for the stupid Water Dragon. What was up with her? Then to get her song, you had to find all those stupid musical fish? I liked the Fire Dragon the best. He was all, "Here's the song. Sorry about the volcano. See you later"
And the final boss battle was awesome. No gimmicks, just straightforward swordplay.

Why didn't you just say that in the first place?

Because isn't it irrelevant to me asking if there's a medal that increases the drop rate of items? :p

I'm wearing a Treausure Medal already and I'm still barely getting anything, I was starting to think it only applied to rupees :/

Finished the
sixth
dungeon and some stuff after that.
I seriously thought that after the this dungeon, I would finish this game in one, two hours max with just storming the last dungeon. Nope, there are quite a lot of tasks to do - I'm really surprised. I did the first one at the Faron area and that, honestly, was boring, but I never liked the tasks in the first area anyway. The next one, that Eldin area, is indeed way more awesome (
I loved the stealth sections in the 3D-Zeldas, so having something like that again is great. Plus, they did a great job with that, using the items one by one to reach the summit again.
)

Oh, and the fifth dungeon is awesome. That bossfight. But nothing beats the fourth bossfight for me, especially the second phase.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.

Nah, I'm pretty sure it's meant to be for the item drops, because there's another medal specifically for rupees. I wore it the entire game and didn't really notice it do much, though.

Well that's disappointing then :/

Anyways, just got done with the third dungeon. I got stuck for quite a while because I didn't realize how I had to use the Gust Bellows to open the gates for like an hour >.> It was worth it to see the cutscene after the dungeon though, couldn't resist choosing the "Am I late?" option XD

Finished the
3rd
silent realm. That was simply not fun and a good bit unfair as well. As soon as I saw the layout of that place when I went into it I promptly turned off my system and went to youtube. I wanted to know exactly where I had to go as I feared there were going to be places that I just knew would be hard to navigate. Sure enough there were. The
damn slope
sections. Ugh. This is the second time I've purposefully spoiled myself on a section of the game and I'm glad I did. The other was during a boss fight but it wasn't anything major since Fi mentioned it in the game as well and even then I still had to figure out something on my own.

I hate design decisions like the above though because I can easily see this stopping someone from continuing on with the game. Especially if they are new to Zelda or even just can't respond to quickly. Even knowing the locations isn't enough in this situation. You need to have luck on your side if you don't know how to tackle certain sections ahead of time. This was the one major negative for me so far in this game. I don't like things like this.

Now to find
a larger bottle
.

So I got the glitch. WTF is this shit. Is it fixable?

Nintendo is suppose to be putting out a downloadable fix soon via the Wii Shop Channel. This was announced a few days before Christmas I believe so hopefully it will be here soon.

I've been backing up my saves in the slots. If others can do that I really suggest it.

Yes it is and no you don't. I pretty much did that trail completely wrong way and still made it. It'd hard to know what the limits of a challenge is when you look up the best way to solve it. The trails give you a lot of slack to mess up and approach them in your own thoughtful order.

told me that if I found all of the rupees, I would get a rare treasure. I figured that by completing this impossibly difficult task, I would get a Piece of Heart. After hours of trying and failing, I finally luck out and win and I am "rewarded" with a fucking

I'm definitely on the fence about the silent realms. I thought the first and last ones were easy, probably because I knew the layouts so well, but had some trouble with
the middle two.
I agree they could be frustrating for some players. I lucked out and got through each one in one shot, though there were some close calls.

My strategy was to stay in the circle to look around and get an idea of where they were, then sprint for the closest one with a rough idea of where I would go next. I would go for the Dusk Relics after I was done, unless there was an easily accessible one.

The Silent Realms were definitely interesting, but not what I'd call fun. Same goes for fighting the Imprisoned three times. What were they thinking? Those are two noticeable blunders in what was otherwise an awesome game.

That's... a rare treasure. Don't blame the stone!

I'm closing on my second flame, so I'm going to have to disagree with you on that.
That stupid shipyard was the biggest LITERAL waste of my time. Nothing was gained. NOTHIIIIIIING. I mean... not even a heart piece!? What kind of BS is that?

So, I just got the swimming ability, and honestly, other than the
Spin Jump
, the swimming controls are perfect. Weren't people complaining about the, or am I mistaken?

Also, what's the order that results in the glitch again?

There is no glitch in the order... just don't talk to any gorons once you are given the choice :p

Yeah, I feel the same way *shrugs*

Unrelated to that, fuck you pumpkin soup drinking people, my harp playing is beautiful
I already beat it, but I still didn't like the harp minigame >_>

EDIT: Ok, I'm pretty sure I just finished Fledge's sidequest by giving him two potions, but I don't recall getting any gratitude crystals yet and the sidequest icon thing won't go away from him :/

EDIT 2: Oh, I have to beat the 5th dungeon...

If you want to be safe, do the desert area last when you're on the quest that takes place after the 6th dungeon. The glitch itself is if you complete the desert portion first or second and talk to
the goron that's digging in the mines/caves
afterward, that game thinks you're still on that portion of the quest and won't trigger the events that happen in the other areas. If you do the other areas first, this isn't a concern obviously.

You can talk to whatever Goron you want at any time. You can always fix your save file with the channel that's found in the Wii Shop Channel.

Heh, fortunately I looked this one up in a guide. Unfortunately not after clearing two of the three difficulty levels.

The Bamboo minigame is glitched isn't it? It costs 10 rupees but you need 20 or the guy will keep saying that you don't have enough :/

It doesn't have some condition where he takes an extra 10, does it? The goddamn happy island game does. Maybe they just put a general condition in for games that you had to have enough for that.

Darn it.
Finding those last few Goddess Cubes will be such a pain...

Why does the detecting have to lead me to those I'd already found...
