I am not a collector so mine is not too crazy.

My most was back in 1996 with the n64. My mother paid $84.99 at Walmart for Shadows of the Empire N64 back then for an xmas present. . (people bitch about prices today) Count for inflation that is $138 in today's dollars.

What's 'it' ? DK64? , because same.

I bought VRCHAT for $1000 bucks. Best money spent though. Got the Valve index and spent hundreds of hours meeting really cool ppl, who are now IRL friends. Fucked a good bit of beautiful foreign chicks from it as well, and traveled a good amount. Cyberpunk will be next, as I'm about to upgrade for that game.

$7k for a metal slug 1 us aes.
Got out of the Neo scene back around 2010.
Sold everything for around $20k.
Did the math recently after seeing that recent Atlantic article and realized my old Neo collection would be worth somewhere around $75k rn.
I try not to think about it often.
I hate when that happens. Cause at the time, things seem good that you can almost triple your money... Until you could have 10 folded it.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I payed for a Collector's Edition of Ar Nosurge which cost me a little over $100.

Also payed for a sealed copy of Wizardry: Tales of the Forsaken Land which also cost me a little over $100.

During the time of Covid Cash, I almost bought a sealed copy of Lunar 2 Complete for $300 but realized that's insane and used it for shit I needed to instead.

Pretty sure it was a collective chip in among my siblings and I, but for sure Phantasy Star II and Sword of Vermillion were $120 each in Canada. This was around 1990.

Worth it.

I don‘t remember games getting that high in Canada, but I do remember convincing my mom MKII was worth 90.00 CAD for Genesis when it launched.

You spent a Thousand Dollars to play THIS!?

You really are a troll

I think i paid somewhere around $200 for steel battalion on release in '02. A few years back the controller stopped working and I ended up paying around $400 for another one in good condition.

I paid 70 for Ghost of Tsushima Deluxe Edition for the soundtrack that I mostly listen on YouTube, but I'm interested in the director's commentary.

If you got out at $20 and it's worth $75 now, how much did you put into it?

Are these crazy prices for open stock? Or new shrinkwrapped?

For me, my biggest mistakes (who knew at the time) was selling Genesis and SNES games to game stores, movie rental stores and flea market kinds of guys for $20. There were no EB or Best Buy trade ins back then where I live.

Who fucking knew these kinds of games could go for more than I paid for it
:
MUSHA
Truxton!?!?!?!
Genesis Contra and Castlevania
Herzog Z
Aerobiz Supersonic

Looking at some price guides, Even Contra III is worth a decent amount. I thought everyone hd that game. Should be tons of copies floating around.

I'm a troll? I bought valve index, because it was a humongous upgrade compared to my old vr set, and the best complete VR set. And I happened to play this the most until HL Alyx came out....?!

Gaf won't lemme upload my screen shot of my almost 300 hours of gameplay on VRCHAT. Maybe in "trolling" since valve index >>>>> psvr in every possible metric?

Back when I was checking on some Xbox games back in 2004, I saw Steel Battalion for $134.. I didn't realized that it came with the huge controller and paddles. Thought if was the most rarest xbox game for the price they were asking. I was dumb and young back then

Game was ahead of its time.

I did a google search and couldn't find any Canada PS or Verm ads from 1990, but the I found was this. Toejam and Strider at $100 from Consumers.

Lol back when a game cost almost as much as a console.

I remember really wanting a 3DO, but in Canada that was millionaire money with the console and the cost of the games on top.

I find it funny now that we are back to 90.00 games, the same price as when I was a kid, but Sierra told me to never pay more than 20.00 for a game.

Relax, dude

It's just funny that I never seen someone say they spent $1000 on VRChat so nonchalantly, but I knew you meant the whole VR setup, not just the game :p

Not trying to make you feel bad or anything. If only you support the PlayStation a little bit more, I wouldn't have felt the need to bust your balls a little bit 💅

I'm not gonna lie. I went in with buying the Valve index to play pavlov, boneworks, sword and sorcery, etc, and ended up playing even more of VRCHAT than anything. Couldn't and wouldn't regret it for anything. Had some of the best IRL meetups of a century. Worth every bang for the buck.

Hahaha.

And cartridge game prices barely moved. If a game was dumped from $70-90 down to $50 that was a steal. No $9.99 bargain binning like during the CD game eras or digital age.

Looking back, crazy how console prices dropped a lot too. Genesis started at $300, and suddenly two years later it's already half off to $150. Then a few years later that square shaped Genesis came out and it was $100 cdn. That means in the US, it was probably only $70 or 80. Nuts.

For a single purchase, probably the Halo Reach legendary edition for ~150 I think it was.
I bought RE5 3 times though, e-capcom limited edition ps3 copy, north american collectors edition x360 copy, and a pc copy

That Area 51 video alone made me rethink about VRChat because that was EPIC!

I'm starting to see why you guys spent so many hours in it, it's like GAF iRL :messenger_bicep:

It really is. You get the occasional assheads in general rooms, but there are so many rooms that appeal to chill ppl and what not. Drinking rooms, adults, etc. Just a group of wholesome ass ppl who are down to travel, have a good time, and D2F

I sold my GameCube Fire Emblem for nothing like a dipshit back in the day. Recently paid around $200 to get it back.

I paid a little under $400 for Panzer Dragoon Saga. I sold it for $600. For some reason I just wanted to pass it along. I bought a lot of games last gen with the money. I thought in the long run it was worth it. I wish they’d just release it digitally or something, but apparently Sega lost the code for it.

I also have a couple moments in my life where I regret selling my games. SNES, N64, Dreamcast, GameCube, NDS and PS1. I had like mint condition Lunar 1&2, Valkyrie Profile, and etc. I was very young and stupid. I did buy new games with all the credit I got, but those new games also went down in price severely. NDS games are getting crazy expensive. I recommend holding onto your NDS JRPGs. I saw SMTIV Apocalypse going for $100 used at a local game shop.

I wish my answer was this cool. Lol

$200 on 2 copies of Cyberpunk CE (one each for PS4 and Xbone) seems like a good deal but tame compared to parLAYing a grand on a VR chat program into nailing sexy birds. ;)

Late December 1994, i have paid 2 millions Lire (Italy and considering the period, exchange rate and cost of the life, was basically 2000 Euro of today) for a Japanese PlayStation X + 1 memory card, a copy of Ridge Racer and a shitty scart converter.

Absolutely worth it!
