$144 for the Edge Of Darkness Edition of Escape From Tarkov, even Valkyire Profile for the Ps1 didn't cost me that much.

Well, I played WoW for a couple of years and payed the subscription fees + the retail prices for the expansion packs + the original 50€ for WoW itself...

I put down $600 for the Shenmue III kick starter. Wanted all the goodies and to put a message in the game.

Non kickstarter would be the pair of UK Neo Geo Pocket Color games Evolution and Cotton for $200 in 2008. Sold them for $1500 on eBay this year when I sold stuff just taking up space in my house for the last ten to fifteen years. A few things I regret but with my health issues I don't know when I'm hooking up a PS2 again for example.

For a single copy of a game:

Persona 5 Royal Ultimate Edition (PS4) - £85 at launch.

Persona 3 FES (PS2) - £70

For multiple copies of a game:

Breath of the Wild - Bought the Wii U version and two copies of the Switch version so £165. Right now I don't have a copy so will need to buy it AGAIN. I sold my physical copies. When I get a Switch again I will buy it digitally.

Grand Theft Auto V - Bought the PS3, PS4, PC versions which would be ~£160.

Witcher 3 - I spent £155 on the PS4 version + Expansion Pass, Steam Version, and GOG version.

I think Starfox 64 at the time for about ƒ170 (that's Dutch Guilders; the currency we had in the Netherlands before the Euro, you fuckin' zoomers). I think I might've gotten a discount from the dude who owned the gameshop but I'm not sure lol.

The reason why it was so expensive is that it was actually a US import that came with an adaptor. So it'd basically be two cartridges that you stack on top of one another. I have no idea why he sold that version and why my stupid young brain didn't understand this at the time but yeah I think that's the most amount of money I spent on a single videogame purchase. Obviously I've now beaten that amount by sheer microtransactions in stuff like Warframe and CSGO but it's probably for the best if I stop talking now. :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I think $200 or so for the Fallout 3 collectors edition that came with the lunch box and vault boy bobblehead.

I paid $350 for a Hagane cart last year. It’s in really good shape. Price Charting now shows the game selling at $668. I got a good deal last year at the time and now it looks like a great deal.

Like $70 for White Knight Chronicles 2 because I knew someone who was on vacation in Europe and asked him buy it for me (it launched before in Europe).

Game was pretty shitty.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (PAL SNES). Cost me about £100 to get a copy in good condition a few months ago. Then there was Majora's Mask for the N64 back in the day. £69.99 not including the Expansion Pak.

$100 for ultimate/complete versions of various games that included the first season pass etc. I don’t collect things so I’ve never bought any collector’s editions with statues etc.

Probably not the most I've spent, but I originally played EarthBound via emulation, and as soon as I beat the game I bought a cart from ebay for $80 and immediately did another playthrough when that arrived. I liked the game way too much to not own it.

I imported the Japanese version of Steel Battalion 2 that included the controller. Paid around $350 with shipping. Never opened it so it's probably worth something now.

All together: World of Warcraft for sure. Played at least for 13 years

Single game: Killzone 3 Collectors Edition 249 CHF or the Zone of Enders Collectors Editions as imports.

I used to have a Neo Geo. I was paying $250-$600 per cart back then. I eventually ended up getting a Neo Geo arcade cabinet too so that made the investment worth it. Too bad I gave all of it to my brother years ago. I am not sure what he ever did with all of it.

If you got out at $20 and it's worth $75 now, how much did you put into it?

Are these crazy prices for open stock? Or new shrinkwrapped?

So, I was pretty heavily involved in a community (Neo-geo.com) and got some good prices from long-term members. I also worked at my friends privately owned, used games store, which led me to a few cool finds.

But mostly my collection consisted of a lot of the rarer games, a lot of NOS copies, and a lot of the late US releases that have skyrocketed in price - including the ‘freaked’ US KOF2000 release which I’ve seen going for 10k lately...

I also had a bunch of hardware (several complete, in-box AES systems, extra NOS joysticks (with uncracked balls), which (in great condition) has seen some of the biggest jumps in value.

I sold it all during a ‘great purge’ of my gaming collection... there aren’t many things in life I regret more than that great purge, lol.

It’s hard to say how much I put into it... I got a lot of good deals, especially at my used game store, and I sold a lot back to the community at very good prices because it was fair and I liked those people. I would say I broke even, tbh.

Think I paid £80 to have a copy of a Macross PS4 game shipped from Japan.

Probably spent more than that on DCS modules.

Even though it's free to play, the most expensive game for me has probably been Fortnite. I don't even want to know how much money I've spent on it between all the season passes and DLC. :lollipop_downcast_sweat:
