The Nostalgia Critic |OT| He Remembers It So You Don't Have To

I liked it too. I wouldn't mind more of these in the future.
A shame the reaction doesn't seem to be the same going by the comments... then again the comments on Channel Awesome are usually pretty terrible.

He just picked the wrong movie to start with. Since we knows it's coming off his dislike while majority enjoyed it. The sibling rivalry comments on his side were pretty negative as well.

This review felt like what Doug envisioned Demo Reel to be. Basically, re-enacting the movies in a silly, low-budget way.

yep. gets his opinion in there without the fucking weird multiple storylines.

i don't really... agree with his opinion, but i thought this was the loosest and most fun he's had with nostalgia critic. there should absolutely be more. recapping the movie with scenes from the movie, without really doing anything with them isn't interesting.

Give it time, people will eventually dislike the movie.

more accurately, the people who liked the movie, who are plentiful but not super vocal, will stop talking about it, while the people who don't like the movie will continue to lose their minds over it like with avatar.

I was more going for the idea that "people will like this movie because there hasn't been any JP sequel". I mean if it came out back when the fourth movie would have came out, it'd be not as loved.

Hype tainted goggles. Once the hype wears off, the stupid starts rolling out. I know I thought The Lost World was awesome when I first saw it. I still love the movie now, but for very different reason. I love it because it was so stupid.

I feel NC is too lenient on JW, and honestly I don't agree on the "movie sucks except for one part so it's all okay" mindset.

I think he's spot on.

My leniency thing is mostly referring to how everything is fine to him due to the climax. He is spot on in his reviews but suddenly "oh it's all right due to tyrannophilia end" is lenient.

i think he's too harsh on it. for my money, i think it's a pretty well put-together film that accomplishes what it set out to do.

well put? ehhh

That review was amazing and one of his best. I'm much more mellow and maybe negative about the film than him, but I thought he hit all the right stuff. The reenactments were funny and used everyone perfectly. I hope this is a trend from now on, but I wonder how sustainable it would be for him to do in every review.

And, did he really have lots of reviews pulled from Youtube and other sites? The only one I remember was The Room review, but that got put up eventually. The way he makes it sound is that a lot of others got pulled and never put back up again.

Pulled from YouTube. He seems to have all his stuff on blip still.

His stuff is in blip.

With that said, some of his reviews are still in YT... except uploaded by other users.

Doug and Rob have started doing Steven Universe vlogs.
I'm impressed the vlogs have gone this long, they must be really popular.

I'm pretty sure the main CA channel has been going through and uploading most of the old videos at the moment (for instance, they put up Starchaser four hours ago). Not sure if the ones uploaded by other users will be taken down though (you'd think Doug would have to do something, he makes his living from ad revenue after all)

I wonder when Nostalgia Critic is going to do a real thoughts video on Jurassic World, maybe months after it's Blu Ray release.

I still can't believe he liked Alien vs Predator though, that movie is trash, lol.

Probably a equivalent of decent views along with that ad revenue. Not to mention a vlog is a easier thing to fit in with everything else they do.

Wouldn't be surprised if he just keeps this review and the sibling rivalry as it. But yeah funny he enjoyed AvP, that movie was such a let down. Both of them.

Oh wow, that Jurassic World review was... Something.

Can't say I'm a fan, but the people here seem to like that style.

Also don't get the complaint that the Indominus rex looks like a giant raptor because... How exactly does it look like a giant raptor?

It looks nothing like one.O_o

Taken from the Jurassic Park wiki. It kind of looks like one... if you squint.

it looks kind of like a raptor actually...
Yeah, I think if you took off those spikes among its back & tail, it kind of looks like one.

Plus it sounds like Doug might know more about dinosaurs than the average person, as he pointed out one of the designs in the original looked different than what they "really" looked like.

I don't see the raptor resemblance beyond the standard theropod body shape.

I guess the head quills remind me of the quills on the raptors in Jurassic Park 3.

At least the first one was trying something Alien-ish. The second one was just a generic horror movie for teens with Aliens and Predators added in.

I have a fondness for AvP1, just because the movie kept breaking in the theater and the crowd reactions were hilarious.

way too many cartoon action tv shows. x-men didn't need to be there. i'd argue that thundercats didn't either. it's really a fight between that and tmnt - tmnt is more memorable, but thundercats did it first (and may have the better song). either way, i'd knock one of those out.

monty python's flying circus is a humongous omission. especially with the likes of beetlejuice making the list.

edit: yeah, i'd kick out tmnt for thundercats. thundercats did it first and was far less exposition heavy in the lyrics. tmnt's main theme sounds like a commercial. oh my god. i just realized that.

... Is this some kind of joke?

I was thinking about this earlier today, and I think the Game of Thrones intro deserves a spot on the list (and I'm not even a fan of the show, it's simply an excellent intro, which seems to fit all of Doug's qualifications).

Also, since he made a slight anime exception for Xmen's Japanese intro, Robotech's intro should also get a spot.

And something like Knight Rider or A-Team. They lose points for including show clips in the intro, but so did stuff like Jonny Quest and Jack of All Trades.

Surprised during his Tim Roth rant he didn't mention that Roth turned down the role of Severus Snape in Harry Potter in favor of this film.

And on the movie itself, one thing that always surprised me about the reboots, is that neither of them decided to just adapt the original book. The original film didn't either, it just took a few ideas from it. No one has tried to actually adapt the book.
