Watching Survivor last night reminded me of how much Rob kicked ass at challenges. He was not really a brilliant strategist or anything; his alliance with Amber was the one thing that kept him in All-Stars but he got there through kicking ass in challenges. There was one with flags where he just kept doing the course himself because he would RUN when others would walk. Physically, he and Amber have a very good chance at this thing. The question is whether they're good at airports or good at directions. It is entirely possible to get through on pure solid Detour/Roadblock performance (See: Kris and Jon, in my honest opinion), struggling to really put together good airport and taxi and driving strategy.

This is what I look forward to the most...seeing how they handle the aspects of the race that aren't related to what we already know about them. These two could rock physically, but they might suck at everything else and be gone early. However, physically, they have a great shot at this thing.

Definitely looking forward to this, even without Romber. Here's hoping for an exciting first leg and some good tasks and locations...and no Johnathans.

Hmm are they still only casting couples in abusive relationships though? Cuz I stopped at episode one for last race. The pandering to camera and endless fighting trib was too much.

They need some new angles on Amazing Race such as "the physical stuff that goes on at night, in the bedrooms..." :lol

WTF? That was the best part!

I would bang a hot farmer!
I'm hoping Rob and Amber atleast get to the top 5.

BTW have you guys heard what they're doing for TAR 8? Instead of two people per team, it's going to be four people per team who are related (either through blood or marriage, no friends).

Yep I heard it was to be "Amazing Race Family" or some weird title like that. Apparently they can have kids 12 and up. I bet the show picks some teams with kids on them just to see the craziness that will no doubt ensue.

I'll be glad if Rob and Amber are gone after the first elimination. Reminds me of that chick from Big Brother that got on the show.

I wonder who's gonna be the person that doesn't like being around foreign people this season? :p

Except, she was put on because she and her boyfriend had MAJOR problems in the span of the show being taped, so it was like a "Bad Relationship/Celebrity" team. Rob and Amber have never really been confrontational, and both were generally good at challenges in Survivor. Unlike Alison, I really want to see how their skills actually transfer to the game. It's all about the airports here, and they don't do that on Survivor. I shall be interested in seeing how it plays out, and would not mind them sticking around in the least.

I hope Rob and Amber get the boot early on too. Something about Rob rubs me the wrong me. Should be an entertaining seaon though.

Afuckingmen. What's with the Rob and Amber hate? I don't watch Survivor so this is my first introduction to them.

WTF? Why did so many of them not check the other time. Lazy fucks. Now they leave 40 minutes later. Well I hope that POW loses. I hate him already.

Yeah and then they get pissed off at the other team for telling them wrong. WTF they think this is Friends, not it the Amazing Race bitches, first one wins.

:lol @ the dumbass old people who did the same thing as the rest of them.

Celicar said:
Damn, the hillbillies lost. Hopefully the POW will lose the next leg.

I second this sentiment. Send his ass back to Iraq and let the Iraqis get another crack at him. Hopefully they will do the job right.

Mainly for the same reason other people on this season don't want them too, they already won a million. Rob was cocky about it early on in this ep.

Rob: I think we're going to win. But hey if we don't, we already won a million. HAHA

Huh so what. I think everyone there thinks they are going to win a million, and if they don't they have already won a million. Jesus man people need to get a life.

Oh God that has to suck. Their plane got delayed so the other teams that were 45 minutes behind them are leaving ahead of them.

I'd rather get cash for each leg of the race instead of a vacation.

You don't have to take the vaction, you can take the cash value of it instead.

I didn't know that.

I'm sad that the hillbillies lost since Chuck spoke Portuguese. :(

Holy shit! $10,000 each!!! Those girls are good. Has a girl only teen ever won the race?

The Bowling Moms were the only female team to even make it to the final episode.

In other news, I really, really like this cast. Was the detour overly interesting? No, but it provided an interesting choice, and some llama spittage. The episode, unlike the Iceland episode from last season, was a little slower. But, the people were also infinitely more interesting. I mean, each team has at least something going for them.

Disappointed to see Ryan and Chuck go over POW w/ Girl. I dislike gimmick contestants like that. The last time we saw one of these was Jill and Jon Vito from Season 3 though (Her brother died on 9/11) but they weren't labelled as such. They ended up being awesome, but I generally dislike the guy TELLING people in simple conversation, like he's bragging about it. That's low, and his crazy stance while tallking about it was WEIRD.

I also must say that I am glad to finally have another Gay couple on the show. They are very simply entertaining, excited and their Sheep tribute on the truck was hysterical. Although based on the preview for next week...oh my. They seem fiercely angry. That'll rock.

Rob and Amber were not intrusive in the least, although I am disappointed to see that their celebrity did help them out in the race with their own personal assistant. They still did a very good job, though, in coming back from that point on. They ran a good race, and in the end that's what matters. Opening the trunk will come with time.

All teams seem able to be cutthroat, but at the same time seem entertaining and interesting to watch. The music guys will have to shelve the Beverly Hillbillie's inspired music, though. Too bad.

Peru - AWESOME.

Ryan/Chuck (team South) - pulling for them and seems like nice guys but too bad they got eliminated first.

Brian/Greg (Brother Twin team) - kinda sucks at racing but if they work themselves out, they're going to win this. Just like how two-man teams always dominate the races through the series.

Debbie/Bianca ("Nevermind" team)- don't mind them and looks like great racers. I don't mind them at all.

Lynn/Alex (ANNOYANCE team) - not to be a homophobe but they're too annoying.

Susan/Patrick (Mom-Son-Gay team) - don't mind the team but find the son as annoying as above.

Meredith/Gretchen (old couple) - always have soft spot for team oldies and they're ok but sucks at racing.

Megan/Heidi (team Hippies) - sucks at racing.

Ron/Kelly (team America) - sucks at racing.

Ucheena/Joyce (black couple) - sucks at racing also.

Ray/Deana (disfunctional couple) - sucks at racing AGAIN.

Rob/Amber (team Survivor) - kinda got annoyed at using a fan in one of the parts of the race but they seem ok... so far. Not that good at racing as I would've hoped. One thing I like about Amazing Race is you can't vote off anyone. The game is about endurance, patience and some luck. They have the first one but the last two... I dunno.

First episode is preety good introduction but doesn't gets to you as fast as last season's. Last Season, you already know who to hate (all of them) and who to like (almost none). Here, it's still to early to tell.

Next episode looks good. :D

The mother and son team did much better than I was expecting, but sonny boy would do well to stop obsessing about Rob and Amber. Who cares if they get one place ahead of him in the first episode? Though I did get a laugh when he was being all nice to them in the delivery truck "We didn't know if you'd be nice or not, but you ARE!" The other teams seem to have some Romber hate too, based on the preview for next week, but they're not holding it back.

So far, I like the two girls that got in first, I like the gay couple: "Wait what am I saying, very very very?" :lol ...........and I hate the POW guy and his trophy girl. She's just as bad: "We're the all-American couple!" BARF.

I had to laugh when they got to that city that was 11000 feet above see level and some teams were buying MATE DE COCA. Mate de Coca is a drink made from the leaves of the Coca plant, the same place where you get cocaine from. I bet they were highwhile running the race :lol

When Rob says that he's won a million already Amber should interject and say that she's the one who actually won the money :p

:lol I was thinking the same thing when he said that. Also, I like how every time Rob makes one of his goofy jokes, Amber does the weird 'Am I really engaged to this guy?' smile. That's cool, I kind of like them as a team, though. But I need to know when the show was taped.... if Rob is missing the world series to be on the Amazing Race, I'm going to lose some respect for him.

I like the "dude!" brothers, they were pretty funny. I think they were joining me in speculating on the possible ambiguities of the two 'friends / roommates / etc' female teams. Also, they told the Peruvian kids to eat their wheaties and not do drugs and that's always good advice.

I'm not ready to write off the POW team yet... maybe the guy will have a gulf war flashback and flip out or something and that would be pretty cool. Plus, all those pagent girls are semi-psychotic anyway, so maybe she'll lose her shit too.

One thing that irks me is how much teams talk about 'knocking out' the other teams. That, like, never happens. 95% of the time, a team gets elimated because they shot themselves in the foot somehow. Same thing with alliances... they're always useless and just lead to that dumb 'how come you left without us, I thought we had an alliance' arguments. This isn't Survivor, damn it!

Anyway, good start to the show!

i'll miss those hick bastards. they seemed nice.

also, there seemed to be too many filler teams. there were like 40 skinny blonde girls that i couldn't tell apart.

I like the gay couple: "Wait what am I saying, very very very?"

that was pretty funny.

Yeah, I really like this cast.

Good episode, too (although 2 hours straight is a bit much for me). I hope we keep having close finishes throughout the race.

I'll echo some of the sentiments that were on here already which I got from last night's show:

The POW guy..at first I was thinking "wow, guy was a prisoner and made it out, he'll be a really good racer/seen it all etc"....then he starts braggin about it like 'i don't want everyone to know this, but I'll tell you so you can spread the word' Fuck. I immediately wanted him eliminated after that. Seems like he wants to use his POW time to make himself a celebrity among the other teams.

The hillbillies. They were funny, too bad they went first. That part where they started running and pulling the rickshaw was hilarious. Also the comment about "stress-testing" the zip line was good.

The 2 brothers trying to pick up the hotties was classic. They start chatting them up in line waiting for airline tickets. Then the one brother said something like "hey those girls did..never mind" I was wondering what he was referring to? Maybe he thinks they're lesbians?

Rob/Amber: I didn't really watch the Survivor where they won. I remember seeing a few early episodes and being annoyed by Rob's arrogance so I didn't watch it much after that. Last night the team actually grew on me. I think they'll make a good team / have the smarts to use whatever resource is available to them to get ahead (i.e. the Survivor fan helping them out) There's also a bit of "awe" from the other teams because they all know who Rob/Amber are and have seen them on TV so they are already minor celebrities in everyone else's eyes. That's why other teams seem to hate them -- they want what Rob/Amber already got.

Too early to make a call on the other teams. The first few episodes I find there's too many teams and I can't really back or hate any teams right away (with the odd exception like Jonathan and Victoria last season where I hated Jonathan from the first show)

I think this was filmed after the World Series, in November.

And what is with those two girls that won the first leg? The kissing, the "i love you" calling each other baby.. I think they're more than just friends.

Perhaps we'll find out more about their relationship tonight. The show wants to surprise us and throw in a lesbian angle mid-way through? Normally they announce the couples at the beginning but maybe these 2 come out on TV? Oh the drama!

The two girls are lesbians. How can you not tell? They are "life long friends". Every scene with them they are touching each other. I thought it was pretty obvious that they are gay.

I like the teams this time out more so then the last race. They got away from the models and actors a bit. This group, while overall is good looking, the people in general feel a little more "real".

I don't mind Rob and Amber, but then again, I never really watched any of the Survivors, so I don't have any pre-conceptions about them. I like the brother team as well, and the girls who came in first.

I don't like the POW/Beauty Queen (How long ago was she a beauty queen?) and the Gay Couple are already really annoying. The other girl team was just sorta there, but I liked how they were saying that everyone would underestimate them because they would think they were dumb blondes, then they go out and do some very dumb things.

When they were all digging through the sand looking for tickets with times on them, we kept asking ourselves have these idiots never watched the show before? Geez!

Looking forward to tonights episode. Should really get the race going now.

Yeah...the lifelong friends thing is a bit of a tip off, the constant "I Love Yous' are another, but you never know. It wasn't advertised as such, so we can't really say one way or the other.

Pays off People to his own advantage.
Using other people's money to pay people off and not his own.
Realizes not to do the money-heavy task when he's been throwing around money.
Recognizes the basic realities of stacking shit.
1st Place Finish.

Rob is officially awesome at this game.

In a perfect world, we'd all be homersexual
i'd just like to add that the old woman crashing her soap box racer, martin prince-style , in season 6 (i think) was one of the most hilarious thing's i've seen in a long time :D
