Ugggh, I hate that. I'll leave my car during a commercial, come back in the car and it'll finish the commecial... almost like it's on pause. I wish the radio stations would keep playing even when I'm not listening to them.

Yeah, what's up with that? Previous GTAs had the radio station constantly running, didn't they?

Question: How much more expensive is it to skip the taxi ride by hitting A?

Because it says its more expensive, however I've been in practically the same spot twice, once I rode it out and the other I hit A to skip and they were both $16

I think it's double the fare.

Vice City soundtrack is still king.

I don't know how Rockstar will ever topple that masterpiece.

I have the Vice City soundtrack on my laptop still.... I fucking love it.

And I think the reason the soundtrack to that game is soooo cool is the same reason the game itself was sooooo cool. It sort of exists in a bubble. The suspension of disvbelief was always easier with VC because not only was it set in a virtual world - but it was also set in a different time period. Therefore it was easier to just escape into and lose yourself in the world....

So really liking the music was a natural follow on from that... I mean it helped that it was kick ass 80s groovy music too:D

Make sure you at least take a full ride from one island to another (can be done in the initial part of the game), as this gets you an achievement. Plus its just cool to sit back - put it on the heli cam - and listen to the radio...

Absolutely, I agree - nostalgia was a big part of it. It goes with what I was saying on the previous page too.

Trying to link my PS3 user ID with the Social Club site.
When accessing the page online, I try to sign in with my e-mail and password and it is telling me it's incorrect.

Is this due to the online problems with the PS3 currently?

Anyone else having problems with this? I didn't see a response.

I posted this over on IGN, but thought I would share it in this thread. I know it is a long read, but I think many of you will enjoy it as it is an easy read.

I have been able to play GTA Multiplayer the last few nights, and wanted to share some impressions. I have been playing with several of you and other friends (Flunkie44, periniumlick, DarkArcani, xuberxpaddler, jeffram, Naptown, SuckaD32, heck I cannot remember the rest). We have played the last few night in some custom games and it was AWESOME! We tried a bunch of different games, (including all 3 coop game modes when we got down to 4 people) as well as a bunch of different options.

Setting up a game with your friends:

When setting up an online game for you and your friends, the best thing to do is create a Custom Game, then set aside however many slots you need for your friends to join, then the rest filled with random online players who join in. JUST AVOID THE PARTY MODE. Sure, you can run around and cause havoc before you play a game, but I have had nothing but problems trying to get my friends in a game, plus you are limited to the number of friends who can join.

The Party Mode will only allow 7 other people to join you, then when you try to join a game, it tries to put all 7 of your friends on the same team. We were having so many problems getting games going out of party mode last night. However, I did have 7 friends with me and the party was full.

When you create a Custom Game, you can change the Game Mode after every game, and you can invite more than just 7 friends. If you set aside 10 friends slots, it will save that many slots in the game for your friends to join. If your friends dont join, it will be a very boring game cause those 10 spots cannot be filled by other random online players.

Best Game Mode?
At this point, Cops Vs. Crooks is the Shiz. In case you have not played it, basically you have the cops and the robbers. One team is the cops, one is the robbers. The robbers have a boss they must escort to an extraction point (boat, chopper, plane, etc) which appears on the robbers map. The cops must stop this from happening. The catch is, the robbers cannot see the cops on their map, and the cops cannot see the extraction point on their map. As the cops, you can see where the robbers are at all times and which way they are driving. You can wait in an alley for them and pull out in front of them for a nice collision, then jump out and fill them with lead. Or you can try to set up road blocks with pedestrian vehicles and sit by waiting to hit them with a rocket.

What really makes this game awesome is the "One for All" version of the game. In this mode of Cops Vs. Crooks, you only get one life. When you die, you are only a spectator of the match. But this is actually pretty neat cause you can switch the camera to any player still in the game and watch the action from a number of views, including all of the nice cinematic views. Unfortunately, you can no longer communicate with anyone while you are watching the action.

Favorite Online Moment so Far?
One of my favorite moments of the night was in a Car Jack City game when Flunkie44 comes running up on me shooting as I am spinning out in my car. The minute I try to get out and engage him, I get killed. As the screen changes to black and white signifying my death, I see Flunkie44 come running up to me, jump in my car and drive off. It was just pretty cool to see him shoot me, run to my car, steal it and drive off with me laying there.

Call your enemy and talk trash!

I hit him with a quick private phone message with the In Game phone, and called him a few names before we disconnected. The phone can also be used to call members of your own team for private conversations. The fact that you can not only communicate with specific people on your team, but people from the opposition as well, is unlike anything I have personally seen. This takes online trash talk to a new level.

Coop Missions:
The Coop Missions are pretty fun, but probably nothing you will play over and over again. There are currently three options from the start. Deal Breaker, Hangman's NOOSE and Bomb da Base II. Each comes with its own cut scenes and characters. We played all three modes on Medium Difficulty (fun solid challenge) and completed 2 of them but failed on Hangman's Noose. My favorite so far is Bomb da Base. We started out needing to go pick up some explosives from the enemy. This was a huge firefight against many enemies. Once we picked up the explosives, we had to make it to an extraction point, board a helicopter, then travel half across the map and land the copper next to a huge ship and plant the explosives. This is a great experience with the cover as the ship is littered with boxes and crates to hide behind. I believe our total kills between the four of us was well over 100 at the end of the mission. I think the reason we enjoyed this the most was because of the relaxing copter ride to the bomb site. It was awesome as we all were site seeing, totally silent.

Least Favorite Online Mode?
Probably my least favorite mode (as well as my friends) so far is Car Jack City. You have at least two teams with cars light up on the map. You must go steal the car (some with NPCs guarding them) and return it to a drop point across the map. We played with Cops ON and It was incredibly hectic. I believe you recieve like a 3 star wanted level when you steal one of the cars cause I had the heat everytime I stole one. What was so annoying (and maybe this can be fixed in the options cause I didn't look) is the cluttered Map. On the map you will see your teammates, opponents, cars to jack, drop off points, and weapons available on the map, as well as all the streets and everything else. Drop in the flashing red police awareness "bubble" and you cannot make out anything. It is such a cluttered mess and difficult to tell where to go. At least if you could turn off where it shows you where weapons were it would not be as cluttered. During the game many of my friends commented they did not like this mode. We DID play it after Cops & Crooks so it had a very tough act to follow.

If you are waiting to go online, wait no longer. This game delivers. The only slowdown I ever experienced involved large explosions and/or rocket launchers. Even when we boarded the Copter in the 4 player coop, there was no slowdown during the breathtaking views. This is definitely an incredible stand alone experience and will easily rival the single player story if you give it a chance.

Flashback FM was in GTAIII. I agree, IV needed an oldies hits station.

True. I thought he meant Flash FM. Come to think of it I really didnt like the music in GTA3 at all. Maybe a station of song or two but certainly nothing memorable.

Shacknews:
Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV broke a record by moving 609,000 copies during its first day of release in the UK, according to MCV.

The previous one-day UK record had been held by Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which saw 501,000 copies sold in a 24-hour period.

Sales of Grand Theft Auto IV were closely split between platforms in the territory, with 335,000 Xbox 360 copies sold as compared to 274,000 for the PlayStation 3.

The game has also become the fastest selling Xbox 360 title in the UK, beating Halo 3's first-day sales of 266,000.
Not as close as I expected. Still phenomenal growth.

I'm sure. Some amazing voice work in the game all round. I'm usually pretty good with accents but this heavy Jamaican stuff is tough if you aren't used to it. The only thing I figured out is that 'ting' means 'thing'. I think.

im jamaican so i fuckin love LJ and badman. bad man ah di real of the show tho. him nuh play round him tings dem when him a hustle. when him say bwoy fi get dead him no ramp round unna hear hear wha me a say?

lol im just glad they got some real jamaicans to do the voices instead of some fake ones. even though the accent is authentic, little jacob sounds like he might have been in the US for a little too long, but bad man sound like a true yardie. The mission where jacob and bad man were in jacobs house and niko had no clue wtf he was saying was gold. he sounded like a lot of the people in family lol.

When I click on the link, it asks me to enter my e-mail and password for the ps3 user id. And it's saying THAT e-mail is wrong.

How do I hook up with women online? I choose the date option, but none of them reply back and the date option doesn't seem to be selectable after you choose it.
The first girl you date is on the match up site I think.

Aside from the average soundtrack, this game is fanfkntastic. I started off disappointed, then I started to get bored, but now the game is really kicking in for me. Love the story and characters a lot more than previous GTA's. The missions are also a lot better.

Haven't really given the multi player enough time to make a final judgment, but it's definitely fun to fool around in between breaks from the single player.

I think what's missing from GTA4's soundtrack is a more pop station. I liked Flash FM, Head Radio, CSR, Lips 106 in the previous games and they seem to be missing here.

L1 to hail a cab when one is visible on the steets and then hold triangle to get in. You can also call Roman and request a cab be sent for you once you unlock his perk.

Thats a fucking spoiler... wouldnt you say?

regarding the socialsite.com is anyone else having trouble with the ZITS? Ive Zitted quite a few but only 2 have shown up on the site.

I had my favorite moment so far when I was playing last night I and decided to take a break from missions and just do some exploring and hang out with LJ and Ramon. Ramon called me and wanted to go to the strip club, so we went and on the way back I jacked a motor scooter from the strip club parking lot. I love the bikes in GTA games because you can weave in and out of traffic, and I was almost back to Ramon's when I ran a red light and slammed into a car. Niko was OK, but Ramon went flying off the back of the scooter and landed head first in the intersection. It actually made me really sad, he looked like he was dead. Then a cop car ran him over. :( I immediately loaded an old save. Ramon is my favorite, I actually felt really bad that I had killed him even if watching him fly off the back of the scooter was hilarious.

Also, I love that characters comment on your vehicle. When I picked Little Jacob up on a motorcycle, he was impressed. I also liked seeing that he didn't bother to wear a helmet.

I have been following this thread sporadically, so I apologize if this has already been posted, but here is the link to the YouTube video of the Russian song "Shiggy Shiggy Schweine" that is in GTA IV on Vlaidivostok:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqRbnNmw3Rs

This is a really interesting song, and the beat caught my attention just going through the game.

I really like the music selection in this game. There are a lot of songs like this that I have never heard of, that really add atmopshere to the game.

Uhh, I need some help regarding the mission progress for
Faustin. I just killed him but my stat screen shows that I've only completed about 85% of his missions. Did I miss out on some of his missions? Will that affect my game later on?

The Snow Storm is a pain in the ass. Clunky ass camera and controls don't help, either. Finally beat it, but it was tough.

i completed couple missions after
the one you kill Faustin. I just checked and it's at 100% now. i think after completing "Russian Revolution", you'll get 100% of Faustin's missions complete

Shit! Question at %17.30 in reference to f**stin

When you go to meet faustin in his club and it turns into a gun fight. You chase him to the top of the building and then he begins talking. However I thought he was going to be shooting so i lit his ass up with an Uzi. Did the story thinken? What did I miss? I thought the whole point of this was going to be me finally confronting him about selling us out in the army 10 years ago. Did he talk about that on the roof?

Please, keep it minimal. I would love it if you could answer it without any spoilers. If the answer is a spoiler then just say "hey bitch its a spoiler keep playing" :lol

Nope he just keeps on repeating he thinks he's right and Niko's wrong. Sort of the same things he said at the beginning of that scene inside the club.

Question about dating!

Can I take
Michelle
to any other places other than the icons on the map? On the paper map (included in with the box), it has some "points of interest." For example, one of these is the Monoglobe. Can we go there for a date instead of food/darts/pool/cabaret/etc?
