I'm using an iPod Touch myself (I'm at the end of my first project) with satisfaction, from what I could see the only thing you may miss is the fact that the phone may interrupt your program with a call. Oh and of course the missing hardware (GPS, camera).
I wish I could just get a phone then, and not have to purchase an extremely expensive contract from a shitty carrier :(

Bought the game, this happens painfully often, I don't know if I'm Doing It Wrong© or something, but holy hell that makes the game barely playable.

I think you're doing it wrong, but to be fair it seems the zone you have to hit is pretty small and it's easy to miss it. The dev said hes listing every complaint and is working on an update already. Hopefully he'll increase the size of the invisible shoot button, or at least make it an actual button we can see. Heck, why not make the rest of the screen the shoot button? Not like it's being used.

Nevertheless, I'm having tons of fun with the game :D My best is Level 21, with 442 Zombies killed.

I have a Touch on the way and need some advice, guys.

- Best IM app? Preferably something that supports AIM, Live Messenger, and Skype. With regards to Skype, I simply want to text chat with my contact list. Is there even a Skype program that lets you call your Skype contacts for free? If it means 2 competent apps to satisfy the 3 programs then that is fine as well.

- Any must have apps that aren't necessarily related to specific tastes? The type of apps that "everyone has to have."

- I plan on doing some research as to finding out which games are worth purchasing, but just to give me a start, could you guys recommend the best wi-fi multiplayer enabled games? All genres are welcome!

Thanks!

I just bought and got done with a good half hours worth of this new Zombieville USA game. It's pretty sweet!

Some nice animation, addictive and satisfying gameplay....and zombies! I recommend it to all! It's got a few problems, like the occasional bit of slowdown when loads of zombies spawn and your input not being recognized from time to time, but other than that it's sweet! I love getting the shotgun up to level 3 and blowing up some heads :D
Bah, Alien Hominid style art+zombies is irresistable. Video looked pretty good, buying now.

I use Meebo.com via Safari. No skype support, but AIM and Live Messenger.

You and those Stealth Edits. I thought you meant that we need a new thread. Although that other thread we have is pretty alright, this one just overshadows it.
:D

In other news: Biplane looks/sounds very Pilotwings-ish. $2 and tempting.

I wish that there was an easier way to organize all your applications. Something via iTunes. Ugh.

Early Biplane impressions: Controls are very responsive, and really easy to fly around. Fun.

Early Zombieville USA impressions: Braains. Great controls and very fun.

Buy them. Yup.

Sweet, awaiting impressions!:lol

Yeah will wait for someone on GAF because TA forums like everything.

edit: Screw it I need a flight game and this looks decent. Haven't bought a game in a while either.

Yeah that would be cool

I only reached level 10 yet (with barely any amo), but I've played only twice. Games damn sweet nonetheless.

I was wondering why there isn't a Google talk app but then I remembered that there's a Google phone OS. :/

I don't know about it being the "best", but Nimbuzz does that (AIM+Live+Skype and others). It does not run in background though.

isnt this already out for 2/3 days ? i though i saw it
Maybe, I'm not sure.

BTW the game features a split screen multiplayer mode using the multitouch. I like to play alone building 2 towers at the same time :)

Google aren't too bad when it comes to supporting other platforms though.

Fring supports Google Talk I think. I use it for MSN and Skype.

I use fring - it supports them all, AOL, MSN, ICQ, Skype, Gtalk, Yahoo. There's some VoIP and SkypeOut sutff on there too, but I haven't tried it and I'm on the iPhone 3G. Oh, and it's free. You can check out their site at www.fring.com

One last thing - here's a video from the developer about iPod Touch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM4vMkU-N0I and someone that shows you how to make free SIP calls from your iPod Touch using fring and a SIP server: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrQggKrwXIc&NR=1

What's the verdict on Crystal Defenders? Any good?
I like it. There's a free version if you're not sure.

Remember when you start the wave, if you hold your iPhone landscape, you get an 'almost' full screen game. Otherwise, you have the d-pad constantly on the bottom.
