Galaxy on Fire got a much needed update.

· Graphics wobbling bug fixed
· Difficulty level adjustable
· Some meshes and texture enhancements
· Accelerometer controls improved
· Touch controls improved
· In-game loading times reduced
· Lead (aiming ahead) support
· Save/load games screen enhanced
· Some gameplay improvements

Uniwar came out. Basically a Lux meets Advance Wars style turn based strategy game.

I bought it but I won't be able to give impressions until tomorrow.

anyone else have issues with Tap Tap Coldplay "lagging" and not registering a tap? It usually happens whenever you hit a new multiplier, and the background changes. It's like it's slow to load the new background, so it hitches and messes up your combo. Kind of annoying...

heh, I like the bit in the video you linked where they turn on tilt control for the first time. the guy misses the ball return on the first bounce.

Played through the Uniwar tutorial during lunch. It's really good, definitely what I wanted out of a mobile turn-based strategy game.

Registered as "Remy" for the online play, add me as a friend if you want to get a game or two in.

6 missions in on this, it is easily worth 99 cents and seems a competent turn based strategy game with some cool mechanics and a lot of content. Remains to be seen if the AI is any good, but the first 6 missions were cakewalks - they're all tutorial missions so hopefully things get tougher as you go along. It has multiplayer so even if the AI is weak it'll still be worth it for the mp action.
 
Agreed, Uniwar definitely appears to be worth the price of admission at $0.99 (even though I had to drive by starbucks at lunch to get it on wi-fi... 10.1MB indeed). I've played a few missions so far and it seems solid. I'm looking forward to getting some MP games going (I'm Slacker in the game too if anyone wants to throw).

But in all honesty, you really owe it to yourself to head to your local library and see what their comic/graphic novel selection is like. There's really no match to holding the physical thing in your hands and being able to pour over the artwork.

(I know right! Absolute is a joy to behold). Thanks, I was interested in it for for reading the weekly One Piece scanlations and then maybe some pdf books for comiczeal but the iphone screen is just too small for comics reading. Too much zooming in and out no matter how it is 'optimized' for the device. The .zave format holds promise though...

Soccer Manager for the iPhone is out. I had my eye out for MYFC (or whenever SI would get with the iPhone) but this beat it to market. Anybody taken a look?

it's amazing how i'll immediately buy almost anything on a single recommendation. if i'm on the fence, the words "limited offer" seal the deal. it's near-pavlovian.

lol. Well the nice thing with iphone games is that even if you don't like it at most you are generally out 5 or 6 bucks which is generally a lunch. :D

A match three game in spirit but more like wurdle where you drag it to get even longer chains. Relaxing title that sort of reminds of Zen Bound tone wise oddly enough.

Okay, I went in with the mindset of it being just another match 3 game that I've played the thousand variants of before, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's really relaxing and the production values are top-notch.

They had already mentioned this awhile back in the toucharcade forums but Flight Control is going to be getting a few updates.


Firemint has today announced details of coming updates to its charming little airspace management game, Flight Control [App Store, $0.99].

The first update, which should appear in the App Store by April 24, will bring:

Online highscores – by far the most requested feature, Flight Control will receive online leaderboards with a simple but clever design, to cater for many of the different ways people are playing. Firemint will use its cloudcell.com technology to go beyond a simple list of names and high scores and offer location based leaderboards and a skill based ranking system. Cloudcell.com has already been used in I-Play’s Fast & Furious game and will also be used in Firemint’s upcoming title Firemint Real Racing.
Save game – if the app exits mid-game (for example, closing with the Home button or receiving a phone call) the player will be able to pick up exactly where they left off.
Firemint will follow with additional updates that add new airports and aircraft to the mix.

We took a look at Flight Control shortly after it's release and found it to be an incredibly fun game offering easy, pick-up gameplay that's hard to put down. It remains one of our all time favorite iPhone games.

Flight Control is currently the #1 paid app in the iTunes App Store and Firemint CEO Robert Murray indicates the company has no intention of letting the game fade.

As long as people keep buying the game and loving it, we will keep supporting it. We’re putting in place a framework that will allow us to add new content more quickly in the future.

For instance, how long has a game like Flight Control been #1 and when did it hit #1, etc?

Stoney mason, I don't know if you do or not but you should seriously think about running a blog or a website based on iPhone game reviews. I would totally invest time into coding the website and helping you out.

I've definitely thought about it (at least a blog since I couldn't code a real website) since obviously I find the platform interesting to follow.

I haven't for a couple of reasons.

1.) There are already some really good ones like Toucharcade, Slide to play, etc.
2.) It would mean my posting for this thread would probably decrease a good deal. Which is fine. It's not like that's a big deal or anything but I do like the little community here.
3.) I've had blogs before and what often starts off as a fun hobby can become a grind when you feel the pressure to keep it constantly updated.

That being said, I have considered it.

Stoney I hate you, Azkend is awesome but it doesn't feel anything like Zen Bound (it has a timer FFS!). The OST might be slightly reminiscent of ZB's (although less so than Soul Bubble's for instance) but the game is much faster paced (even w/o considering the Survival mode).

It's cool though, I like it, well worth the asking price.

Do you know how to go back to a "solved" day though? I couldn't get the star on all of them :(

Once you've completed the Adventure Mode (it took me 1h 30m), you get arrows on the select level screen which you can press and travel to the day you want to play again.

(I'm not sure, but I can't remember seeing them before I completed the game)

In the "My League" mode, you have to train your batter to use it. Takes about 6 training sessions (which cost stamina and G points) for the level 1, and then 8 more for the Level 2.

Not sure about the other modes, though.

...and usually by the time you have trained your batter for power, and buy one of the better bats, it's pretty much a waste to even get the star power.
