It's hardly the first time; perhaps it shows that Valve's greatest problem often is communicating clearly to the fanbase and managing expectations.

As long as they keep making great games though, all is forgiven after a short while...

omg I found the problem. I just tried to open the game and it went to updating, then the NOD32 thing popped up again. I have tried to add my STEAM folder as an exclusion. Hopefully it updates again and it won't happen again.

Just finished a game... The matchmaking is okay, I don't get the big deal, a server browser would be nice (I don't see myself using it much, but for time to time), but I could live with the game in it's current state. It's not TF2, even in versus mode, this type of matchmaking works fine here.
Also, the game is fuck awesome. Probably my GOTY.

It's not that there is a problem with the matchmaking. Matchmaking works great.

The problem is a lack of server browsing. Hopefully it's just deactivated, as a few files that came with the install may suggest.

Looking around, there actually IS a server browser!
It's called up with "openserverbrowser" console command, here's a snapshot:

It shows only specific servers set up for this though. Why the hell didn't Valve use this as standard?

The auto matchmaking button in World in Conflict was the most reliable way to get a good match. If they combine this with Live's skill system then I would see it as a big step in the right direction.

They should still leave the option to search for servers, but I doubt people will use it much once they polish the new system.

Supposably this command allows a server to accept connections outside matchmaking (IE through connect command or that server browser command)

Awesome the server browser works a lot better. I just join the game with lowest ping on my preferred difficulty setting and I'm good to go. Super smooth, no lag. Beats waiting for "searching for dedicated" for an hour.

Usually Options->Controls->Advanced buttoned. Enable ~ console checkbox.
