At this rate I'm gonna stop reading the thread until I got my game, seeing so many people with the game already, it's getting my nerves!.

Enjoy the fucking game, bastards!. :lol

More like Tensed Muscle, am I right?

I'm at 3-3, so far it's very fun and the graphics are the best I've ever seen, but as much as I enjoy the new setting, I feel RE4 surpasses RE5 in every aspect. Not for a large margin, as the formula is still intact, but it's not that perfect anymore.

Here's what I don't like (not really spoilers):

- I really miss the merchant. It was a major gameplay element in RE4 and it's been reduced to a lifeless, boring alternative in RE5.

- Where's the ammo? I'm scoring pretty high in accuracy but I keep Sheva without a bullet for most of the time.

- Weapon upgrades: I doesn't feel rewarding like in RE4, and that green level meter doesn't make it very clear where one weapon can be better than the other.

- The new inventory system is the worst aspect of this RE. It's too simple, but difficult to manage and very limited.

I still have to try it on multiplayer, but as a single-player game the escort is not a very good addition.

Yeah, i think, I'm gonna discharge some tension with the demo, while imagining that those majinis have RE5 copies in their hands instead of weapons! :lol

In terms of pure experience and ignoring technical and gameplay merit (i.e. the feeling I had as a fan when playing RE5 the first time), it would probably be RECV > RE4 > REmake > RE2 > RE1 > RE3 > RE0 > RE5

question about the unlockables:
do you really get unlimited ammo after the first playthrough? it sounded like that in the ign video review. i hope this is not the case, i want to take my leveld up guns in the next playtrough. but unlimited ammo would make it to easy.

You have to level a weapon to the max to get unlimited ammo (for that specific weapon only), and however you have to activate the option at the beginning.

Was anyone else annoyed at the load screens?

The text would sometimes be long but the load times would be too fast! lol.

Wish they had a "press A to continue" command or something...

The last time I had the feeling I felt after playing RE5 was when I finished RE0. I admit that the first playthrough of RE0 felt a bit unpleasant the first time around because of the Hookshot. But when you replay the game and know how to manage the Hookshot, that roadblock is removed. With RE5, while I may not have been as amazed as I was with RE4, I'm certainly in for some awesome experiences in online mode.

What's the Hookshot? It's been so long since I've played RE0 that I don't remember anything about the game.

A really fucking shitty item that you had to haul around for about 3/4 of the game, but the game never initially gave any indication of that. Combine the fact that it takes up 2 slots with the limited inventory system, sans item boxes, and well, you have the hookshot!

Do yourself favour and buy the version on the console your friends are buying it on, or at the very least, the one you'll actually be able to play online with.

The frame rate is negligible, being able to play this game in the online co-op mode (even if your first run through will be in single player, like myself) is not.

Get the PS3 version so we can co-op (if you live in the EU that is :p).

I'm still keeping my PS3 steelbook preorder, hopefully I won't regret it. And I also hope someone will want to co-op with me.

I just came here to post that. I have the game installed and sometimes you can't even read the first word because of how fast the game loads.

I just saw an ad of Resident Evil 5 a few minutes ago, looks great, but I do wonder why it only mentioned Xbox 360 which may cause people to believe it's exclusive to that system

That long bow is also furiously awesome. It's the only weapon with no kind of sight (laser sight or scope), so actually hitting something isn't that easy. But on the other hand it deals a ton of damage. So if you manage to get a good streak of something like 5 hits in a row you feel like a total badass.

Not really. He has
a Safari outfit, but it's not similar at all. He gets white hair, sunglasses and this outfit with a zebra pattern. He looks like a 70's disco star travelling to Africa. His third outfit is his old STARS outfit from RE1. Which looks really weird now as he's so muscular.

Wark said:

A small skirt. It's really tricky to get a full picure of the outfit. Either the game shows a ton of motion blur or the camera is behind the character all the time.

I don't have any good screencaps of Chris and Sheva's other outfits, I can try to get some later. But I do have a few good screencaps of the outfits a mysterious character has, which shall not be named due to spoilers. So yeah, spoiler warning for these pictures:

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd60/TzarSectus/RE5/Comp10003201.jpg

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd60/TzarSectus/RE5/Comp10032826.jpg (also shows Chris's second outfit)

One small note, playing as
Wesker
in coop mercenaries is awesome.
It is a bit odd to cooperate as the villain with the other characters, and Capcom was aware of that so they made some of his dialogue unique. For instance if the other player heals you and you press B, Wesker will say something like "Oh, I suppose I should thank you!" in a very sarcastic tone. So hilariously awesome.

Finished my first play through just now. Finish time: 9 hours, 45 minutes.

I am really, really disappointed overall. It has flashes of greatness but ultimately remains in RE4's shadow. The later section of the game is essentially a cut and paste of the island section of RE4 with a tacked on cover system.

Pretty much every boss fight is dull as dishwater: go to turret A, initiate cut-scene B apart from the final boss which is just an exercise in frustration and bad game design.

I waited 4 years for this? :(

That's a shame. :(

Is it a case of "not as good as RE4" or just "not good"? In your opinion, obviously.

Funny thread, this is.

Person A: "This game sucks."
Person B: "Darn, I was hoping it'd be awesome. Color me disappointed."

or

Person A: "This game rocks."
Person B: "OH MY GOD BEST GAME EVER CONFIRMED. CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY."

Seriously, guys. Take it easy.

Are you basing the time on what the game tells on the chapter select? Beacause it's not entirely reliable. My final time as shown by the game was 9 hours and 30 minutes. The real time I spent was 13 or 14 hours.

It's sad to hear you were disappointed by the game. I personally had a blast. I don't think your statement about the bosses is true though. There's a bunch of bosses in the game, and only 2 of the boss fights have turrets you can use (and in only one fight are you forced to use a turret).

Well, there isn't really much other way to respond. Good impressions = "that sound great, tell me more". Bad impressions = "Ah really!? Tell me more"

Alternatively, if you mix an match, it gets weird.

Person A: This game sucks!
Person B: OMG BEST GAME EVER

;)

Well, the problem is, people are so caught in the hype that they're just sitting on the trigger, ready to give and immediate negative response to a negative impression and vice versa.

People are too anxious to confirm if the game is a failure or not. It's stupid.

It's extremely stupid. I'll admit I'm very positive about the game, but I respect negative opinions. I always do. What I jump at is when people cancel their preorders and call it a letdown if a single person doesn't like it.

I agree when it comes to the latter. People hiding in the shadows during all the positive impressions, then jumping out and dramatically sooking about the game failing whenever negative impressions are posted bug me.

what about to the 15-20hour statement from reviews? I normally don't buy 9hour games, but it is RE(one of my fav series) so I kinda have too.

I would've liked a 20 hour game too. :( On the plus side, there's a shit load of unlockables (MERCENARIES!), so there's going to be a lot of good reasons to keep playing.

Plus, you said you were an RE fan; you should be used to short games, prior to 4 most of them were under 10 hours long. ;)

Just finished it, 10:23 is my time. Seriously, if you're going to design a Boss Battle to be COOPERATIVE make it fucking work when I'm playing alone too, don't get me wrong, the game is awesome, but in the
fights with Wesker required teamwork
and it was frustrating as hell when you die because of
Sheva
.

Loved some parts, hated others, but I enjoyed the game as a whole,
now starting a New Game + as Sheva
, hoping I can max out my favorite weapons.

I've said it before but I'll stick to my opinion that RE games do not necessarily need to be as long as RE4, especially considering how much filler bullshit that RE4 was chock full of. At least RE5 will probably have a better and more focused plot. Not trying to say the plot will be fine literature, but RE4 had one of the silliest and most disjointed and absurd plots I've ever encountered in a game, even compared to the other RE games.

But I digress. People will counter that with "but it was fun and all the setpieces were intense!" And I won't argue with that. I just don't think it's fair to trounce on RE5's length simply because it isn't as long as RE4, which is just the exception and shouldn't have to be matched here on out. And it's weird to me that there's so much fuss over the length either way. It's still clearly more than 10 hours long and that's longer than most high profile games these days (Gears of War comes to mind).
