Heh. I kind of anticipated that reply. That's what I usually do, but for some reason they took like 4 hours last week. And when they finally got it up, the video repeated at one point so a few scenes were missing. I didn't end up watching it until after 12 once they fixed it and then I was too tired to get up for class the next day :(

really? i could have sworn it was up right away. its usually up right away, i love it =)

and god damn maxima really really grew on me. something about a seductive women is so hot.

Except Maxima is supposed to be a warrior Woman, which this Maxima was not if I remember correctly. I know they can't match stuff in comics/animation but come on, what next? Darksied is really the black sheep of Kal-el's family?

well i think she said that she was a warrior woman and all that, the queen of her planet, but shes been searching for a kryptonian?

and do we know who/what X is?

I guess I was expecting more of the Maxima from The Batman/Superman Adventures.

Did anyone catch tonight's episode? Smallville season 8 continues to prove that the show still has some life in it. New producers, new actors and a more mature theme all help to make the show feel fresh again.

Tonight's episode was really good in my opinion and I liked the Lois and Clark scenes. Also, the trailer for the next episode entitled "Prey" looks awesome and shows
Davis Bloome turning into Doomsday and also scenes where he has killed people.
Check out the trailer here:

As for who was "X" in episode 5? Well it is easy to believe that it would be Lex since he said "You are not ready yet" as if speaking to his apprentice who would be Tess Mercer. I don't see it as being Maxima since she doesn't want to work with anyone and Chloe generally didn't seem to have a clue that the crystal was missing and even with her increased intelligent, it just doesn't seem logical and obviously she wouldn't tell Tess Mercer "You are not ready yet" and I don't think Brainiac has anything to do with that. I also don't think Lana Lang would be interested in eventually working with Tess Mercer (as some people thought of) and of course Clark wouldn't have done that. I could only assume at this point that X is Lex and is just a generic hint toward that. Lex will likely be doing at least some voice work for at least one later episode this season according to insiders.

Can't believe there's not more discussion about this episode.

This is the episode I've been waiting for since the first episode of Smallville.

Erica Durance finally came into her role as Lois Lane, and surprise, it was through her classic Clark Kent/Lois Lane interplay with Tom Welling.

The electric chair scene was just one of those all time mythos-stroking moments that put a grin on my face that lasted even after the episode was done. That scene + the awkward elevator exchange were both series highlights.

Not only has good writing resurfaced after what felt like an eternity of absence, but it's promising everything we could've hoped for all those years ago.

[/End geeky fanboy gushing]

Uh, where's the Smallville crew? I only just caught the last 10 minutes or so, which is getting to be a regular thing; my new work schedule has me putting in extra hours to cover for employees let go. Which (unfortunately) means I end up missing most or all of Smallville.

Does the CW have episodes on their site? I need to catch up.

EDIT: OH SH*T OH SH*T OH SH*T @ NEXT WEEK!

You're going into withdrawl. Here you go:

Doomsday's a wussy named freakin' Davis who cries a lot. What could be more awesome? :lol

I'm catching up now with this season, and I'm on the wedding kidnapping episode.

I'm seriously laughing out loud at the awkwardness between Lois and Clark in the ring shop. :lol

Awkward Lois/Clark moments are one of my favorite parts of the show.

Edit: Okay, that elevator scene at the end put a huge smile on my face.

Great episode, but it's going to have a lame predictable ending.

Oliver will be the one on the building (from the commercial) wearing a cape, while Clark is down below with Jimmy, then Jimmy will think it's not really Clark.

And that sucks, because Jimmy should find out.

Not this early... maybe Jimmy will get his memory stolen.

EDIT: Maybe bank will mindwipe Jimmy by kissing him. :D

Clark: "I didn't complain when I had to dress up in leather to protect your secret identity."
Oliver: "You made out with my girlfriend, man. What exactly do you have to complain about?"

:lol

EDIT: Jimmy's like "Whatchu talking bout, Batman?"

:lol I loved that.

And yeah, predictable ending, but they pulled it off nicely. I expected it to be more straight forward, but they had me wondering for a minute, both when Clark ran off to save Lois, and when Jimmy was like "shit, you can't fool me yo".

And seeing Clark look around like "... wait, that's how people would treat me?" was great.

If the writers really wanted to shake things up, they'd have Clark just be like "screw it" at the end and told Jimmy. I mean hell, next year is the last one, if not this. Go all out.

If the whole season stays at this quality, it will be the best season of the show.

Yes, the 8th season of a TV show will be its best.

Didn't see that ending coming at all. I was sure it was Tess at the end of the bed.

LOL. I enjoy watching Heroes, but Chloe's character wouldn't work since it has more focus.

It's funny that it took finally "moving" Clark to Metropolis to get this season on track.

I'm intrigued by what the next episode will bring.

Didn't Chloe have some sort of run in with Brainiac?

My wife watches pretty religiously but I haven't caught the last season.

Her line about brains being 'like computers' that could overload was very Brainiac-esque.

Spoilers:

Yes she had a run in with Brainiac and he tried to do something to her mind. However, her healing ability had abnormal effects which caused Brainiac to be totally drained of energy (as her ability tried to heal herself against the attack) in which he practically crawled away looking for an emergency supply of energy.

The effect on Chloe though was that she lost her healing ability and started to become more intelligent with her mind working more similar to a computer in terms of processing information. As the days gone by, she kept getting smarter and smarter leading up to tonight's episode.

Tonight's episode was setting it up for the transition of Brainiac taking over Chloe and Chloe murdering that guy indicated that Brainiac was finally beginning to take over Chloe's decision making process.

Due to recent spoilers, I also believe that "X" might indeed be a Chloe Brainiac. Spoilers show that Clark receives the crystal back by an anonymous package and when he activates it, the crystal sucks him and Lois into the Phantom Zone. My guess is that "Chloiac" is responsible for this happening. However, I still think Chloe is partially intact which means at times she might be a normal person.
