Overall great episode. I didn't like Chloe losing the memories of Clark's secret. It felt as if aspects of previous seasons were lost. That being said the episode was still solid.

Next week's episode will...
as you can see from the trailer, introduce Doomsday in full and he isn't human looking like everyone anticipated. Looks like Chloe's wedding will indeed be a mess. Also Lana makes a showing. Should be an interesting episode.

Watch the epic trailer for "Bride" here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_ZUCccLnH8

So what do you guys think of season eight so far? :D

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. I really haven't enjoyed a season of Smallville in a long time, but the new showrunners have seriously got their shit together and are putting together a pretty damn good story arc.

Also, I thought Chloe losing her powers was a bold move but I doubt it will last for long. I'm sure she has some more of Brainiac left in that brain. Oh and Davis was down right creepy in this episode.

DON'T watch the preview for BRIDE if you don't want to be spoiled!!!! It is epic though! :D

I haven't seen Smallville since the end of season...5, I think, caught this by accident.

But this episode was pretty interesting, and after reading up on the wiki for the season, it seems things have gotten better in my absence.

Nice to see that
Doomsday makes an appearance, but now I can't help but wonder if Clark gon' die
.

What I've liked about this season, is the consistent use of DC universe assets. They have gone to the well and used some "b" list villains from the comics and it has really given the show a sense of authenticity. No more random freak of the weeks.

Big D is going to lay the smackdown all over that wedding next week. He's going to bust in and be like:

I also hope he slaps Lana through a wall

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.

Probably Saturday or Sunday it will air.

It airs Saturday at 6 pm est and Supernatural follows it.

I thought it was a pretty big shift for Clark to call Jor-El his father.

I didn't think so. It just proves that Clark has finally accepted who he is and that is what Jor-El has wanted from the beginning.

Too bad the fortress is corrupted by Brianiac though. Will be interesting to see where that goes

i didnt like this episode much. it felt a lot like previous seasons. the only thing different is that something actually came out of Chloe's problems, although that something was the loss of clark's secret. in previous seasons everything would be back to normal by the end of the show.

other than that though, it just didnt feel like this season. it was slow, cheesy, and iuno, hopefully it gets better

Just finished watching the episode on my DVR. It was alright and sets up Doomsday. I also dont like the fact the she doesnt remember Clark's powers. The trailer for Bride looks pretty awesome. Dooms looks f'n badass.

I figured that Smallville's Doomsday would be pretty cool but I never expected him to actually look so close to the comic version in monster form. It isn't perfect but considering it's a television show with a limited budget, in my opinion they nailed it pretty darn well.

remember people...this is smallville, king of the letdowns. every single major battle they hype becomes a letdown. i seriously hope theres some major clark vs doomsday in this...and it looks like lana gets hit with a wall, cant they EVER cut her a break? jesus

I don't think that's Lana.

Also, no one's going to expect some big fight between the two, especially next week. Clark will throw a punch of two, but Doomsday will wreck him.

It does suck, but it's a show on the CW that got hit with budget cuts. I won't hold it against them.

i was expecting a big fight lol doomsday wouldnt just leave the wedding peacefully. but even in the future...the big faceoffs are always cut short. we'll wait and see.

Not every fight. That one fight against the zoner in that TV fight-club ring (season 6?) was the best fight in the series by far, and very well done. Right down to Clark actually kicking ass for a change and enjoying it.

Unfortunately, that's the only time in the series that a fight was done well.

All I could think about while watching the last episode was how fucking hot Chloe is. Damn.

Also, I'm dreading the Lana return. This show has been awesome this season and the absence of all the Clark/Lana drama is major reason why IMO. Surprisingly though, I'm not missing Lex at all.

I think they'll do Lana justice. I mean she returns next week, and the preview shows Clark and Lois about to kiss.

And Doomsday looks badass.

This season has been very suprising and it's been awhile since I really enjoyed watching Smallville. I think it has to do with Lana not being there I guess. Never really like Clana at all :lol

Doing Lana justice = Doomsday putting her through a wall as suggested above

Chili Con Carnage!
Oh wow, wasn't expecting them to actually make Doomsday look like Doomsday.

Must say actually this whole series has been much better than it sounded on paper. Just subtracting Lana from the equation makes it soooo much better (shame she's in the preview).

I'm glad they did this to Chloe. I mean I always thought they would just kill her off in the end because she knew Clark's secret. This way at least the character stays alive. Although I wonder if she's not gonna remember with all the Doomsday stuff coming up.

She still works with the "Justice League" so I don't see how she won't figure it out.

Clark will hopefully inform the League about this change.
I'm not saying they would tell her but we've seen throughout the season that Chloe keeps very detailed files on everyone.

Yeah I guess she'll just figure everything out again. She'd become pretty useless otherwise as well.

Is there any place I can watch this weeks episode online in the legal manner? CW.com hasn't updated and don't know when it will never used it before and Hulu doesn't carry CW shows.

Holy shit at that Doomsday. As big a Superman fan as I am, I stopped watching this show some seasons back after it got annoying with the romance/drama stuff that's typical of so many other shows. Seems like they're doing some cool stuff now. I'll be watching this Thursday.

Hmm. This balances things a bit... but it's also rather silly. If Superman would be about to lose a fight, he could just fly away and Doomsday wouldn't be able to do shit about it. It's also strange that an experiment made by the strongest creatures of Krypton doesn't even have all the abilities a Kryptonian has, doesn't make sense to only improve some aspects, and delete others (important ones).

Keep in mind that it is our yellow sun that gives Kryptonians the power that they have on Earth. When they are/were elsewhere it isn't so*. Now, Doomsday is not himself Kryptonian. He is a genetic experiment, perhaps loosely based on Kryptonian genetics#. The key thing to keep in mind here is that on Krypton a Kryptonian would be normal, unspectacular. Our sun is key to Superman's strength. Doomsday's strength is inherent. So while he might lack abilities a Kryptonian would have on earth, his pure strength is just as effective on any planet, anywhere.

*Though they play with this concept in several ways throughout the history of Superman. In some versions it takes time to "charge" up powers, so Kryptonians had to be here for some time to get abilities, and sometimes it is more instant. Superman also tends to work like a solar battery, and can exist for some time away from our Sun because of that.

#In the comics Doomsday was not even created on Krypton. Also, he was basically created by taking an infant child and throwing it to the wolves, allowing it to be destroyed, then creating a new version from what little survived. It isn't entirely logical, but the idea was that each new creation was stronger than the last, until nothing on the planet could harm Doomsday. You see a similar concept in Smallville.

They better do Doomsday justice, he has to be a killing machine. He better not push Lois into a wall and knock her out, then Clark gets rid of him just as she wakes up. Doomsday needs to kill kill kill! Lana, Chloe, Jimmy, all must die!

A few things to note this week's episode:

- Executive Producer Todd Slavkin has told fans to NOT miss the the last few seconds of the episode. And it looks like this might be the last episode before the winter break, as the next episode doesn't have an air date yet (I don't even think it's finished shooting). So I wouldn't doubt a surprising ending.

- This week's episode also has some development on
Lex
. Apparently Oliver goes to Cuba to
confront him
. Obviously he won't, but it's nice to see them leaving it very open to
Lex returning
.

- The God himself, Geoff Johns, said this about this week's episode:

There are so many twists and turns. And episode 10. Episode 10 is INSANE. My episode is now 11, so it's going to be a hard act to follow, but I'll give it my all. I have to say too, that if they pull off where they're taking Doomsday...I mean, I didn't understand where they were going when they announced that Doomsday had a human alter ego. But it's freaking cool. As hell. And fans of the comics are going to be blown away when everything is actually revealed. It's really pretty spectacular.

And a few things about the season in general.

- Lois is gone for the four episodes following this week (#10). Erica Durance is shooting a movie or something. But she'll be back in episode #15, where Clark apparently
tells the world about himself
.

- Lana's last episode of Smallville ever is episode #14.

- Police detective Dan Turpin from Jack Kirby's New Gods comic series appears in episode #12, which Alison Mack is directing.

- The Legion of Superheroes episode is the one following Bride. Geoff Johns wrote it.

Yeah I've always had a bit of a problem with the part where they're just normal on their own planet. I mean, they really have a God complex, since they're always talking about how inferior humans are compared to them, while in fact they're just the same as humans are. I mean, maybe humans get all superman like with the sun near Krypton.

Another thing is Braniac. He had the same powers Clark has, but since he's not really an organism and all, it shouldn't be because of the sun he got those powers. So how come he has those powers then? Since he was created on Krypton. I don't read the comics, so I don't know if there is some explanation for that.

Why did they have to screw up Chloe. I hope she remembers Clark properly again.

Good to see Doomsday will finally be on next week! I can't wait!

To be honest, Brainiac in the comics is not really anything like he is in Smallville, so that is why there is that inconsistency. In fact, he isn't even of Kryptonian creation and is instead an alien of another place entirely. He also doesn't mimic Superman's powers in the comics.

I don't know how I feel about Doomsday.

At first, I was disgusted. I remember reading "Doomsday - Chloe - Jimmy Love Triangle" and texting how absurd this was to a friend who watches the show with me.

Fine. I watch the shows. Okay. They've done something sort of interesting with it. I was even fine when they changed Doomsday to a creation of Kryptonian (as in; before the human kryptonians most are familiar with) nature. Fine. Just make sure you pull it off reasonably well. Perhaps do something like have Davis go on a rampage and have Clark take him out in some way, and let him regrow into the Doomsday we recognize from the comics.

As it is? I'm quite worried. The few frames we've seen look worse than a fucking B-movie IMHO. They might look okay in stills, but in motion it looked like a fuck-ugly foam suit. And why is he a fully recognizable doomsday? What, does he fucking transform like the hulk? I hope they don't fuck this up. They've already made it incredibly inconsistent with everything we've been given in comics and so forth thus far.

Oh, and Lana?

This could be the worst episode ever if things don't go well.

Do to the success of season 8, it is looking like a season 9 will be created:

Ausiello Files has revealed something very interesting;

Question: Please tell me there's going to be a 9th season of Smallville after what is possibly one of the best seasons so far? -- Joanne

Ausiello: I hear The CW will likely take the don't-fix-if-not-broke approach and keep its Thursday line-up intact next season. (Attention Smallville fans: Scroll down to the bottom of this column and watch an exclusive preview of Chloe and Jimmy's apocalyptic nuptials!) In related news, there was a wild rumor going around last week that Supernatural received a green light for a fifth season. The network quickly squashed it, but, man, for about 30 minutes last Monday I thought Christmas had come early for all you Supe Nazis.
