Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, and Cosmic Boy are definitely in that trailer, and wearing not just their colors but their symbols as well. Also wondering if the guy in the mask might be... Steel?

I think they've just finished filming Legion recently and I don't think Steel was in that. It was definitely from something coming up though... hmm.

Fucking bullshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! Where's the fight? LAME. Only the first and last few minutes were all that were worth watching.

You guys should know by now not to expect epic fight scenes. You might get one in the season finale. Maybe.

Also, there's no way Jimmy should still be alive.

You'll get a fight in the finale, that's for sure. Clark will no doubt beat the ever living crap out of Doomsday and in the process sacrifice himself to protect everybody. I mean did you see the end where Lois asked him why all of these bad things kept happening to them? The guy feels responsible for it all.

Indeed. It'd be pretty cool if the season ended with the same image from Death of Superman.

Great season finale, I haven't watched Smallville in a long time (I didn't even know Lana left the show :lol). Chloe has the star-studded role which is great and while I was skeptical of Lois Lane's acting abilities I was impressed especially in this episode. Lana making a comeback as well as the introduction of Doomsday means I'll definitely watch the next season of Smallvill! :D

I hope they don't because it would be boring tease into next season if there is one. Clark is not going to die so why bother trying to duplicate the storyline? I am hoping the new producers going in a different route with the doomsday/clark storyline and don't try to push it into next season.

What worries me as a chloe fan is that she is not long for the show because they are moving on from Clark/Chloe to Clark/Lois(finally) which makes Chloe really expendable.

weird, when lana came into the wedding who said "No way! I cant believe it!" at first i thought it was lana being surprised at lois and clark but then it could be chloe...but it didnt seem like it. :lol

aha! i called it that it was lana getting hurt first. surprised she wasnt knocked out for once though

Eh. If you think like that there's no reason to even watch the show. I know Clark isn't going to die just like I knew he wouldn't stay trapped in the Phantom Zone. Doesn't mean it can't be entertaining.

I feel you on the Chloe thing though. Like someone else said, if Chloe doesn't know about Clark, she's useless to the show which is why I feel her memories will be restored.

Does anyone know what song that was at the end, by the way?

VAST - Don't Take Your Love Away

And considering that is up there as one of my favourite songs of all time...I have to say that this episode was fucking fantastic. I haven't liked an episode this much since...Lex/Lana Wedding or the 100th Episode.

It's also interesting that they use VAST both time when going into the mid-season finale.

Last time it was "VAST - One More Day With You" when Brainiac nuked Lana's brain.

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?

Hmm...I found a line rather telling when Lana tells Clark "I would never forgive you if you took my memories away," or something to that effect.

Incidentally, when Chloe is presumably
Braniac'd again, since Brainiac took over the fortress of solitude as Jo'rel was taking away chloe's memories of clark, it's entirely possible that she'll regain those lost memories, and it'll be a point of conflict with her and Clarke if/when she gets free of brainiac's influence again/

The only thing I didn't like about the episode is that I wish they had brought Ma Kent back. And Pete. Why wouldn't they be at Chloe's wedding?

They should have brought them both back, and had Pete try to go up against Doomsday, only to have Doomsday kill him. It would have added an insane amount of "oh shit, they're not fucking around with this show anymore".

Obviously just a little thing I wished happened, no big deal.

How perfect was the song at the end of that episode? "I Grieve" by Peter Gabriel. I literally cried.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RuKNEbLSvc

: (

indeed. i match your funeral scene with lanas death scene

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dr3lDjyLr1s&feature=related

and raise you with lionels funeral scene

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juh3tpFzSHA&feature=related

you know, as much fun as this season is, watching these scenes really makes me miss the old days before lex and lana became annoying. lex's look at jonathan's funeral was such a perfect scene.

holy crap i didnt realize they used "i grieve" in lionel's death...i could have sworn it was this awesome instrumental piece. did they change it?

stealth edit: i knew it. that was some weird version. changed the link.

Yeah. Killing Pete is a little thing.

Would be a better send off than his guest appearance last season, in probably the worst episode in the show's history. And I loved last season.

I have to say, the acting in Lana's death scene. Tom Welling did a great job.

yup. ill be the first to admit his acting is usually a little...forced. but his crying into his dads shoulder was an amazing scene.

Hey. They gotta make money to cover the budget somehow. :D

I thought Smallville was likely ending this season which is why they were doing this angle. I mean it seems to me that it would be the perfect way to introduce Clark as Superman because he has to finally expose himself in order to stop Doomsday which would be an epic battle in the series finale as well as introduce Superman to the world. Seems like it would be a great way to send off the show.

I hope not.

I just started liking the show again.

A season ending battle against Doomsday would be good but I'm glad they didn't have them fight right now. This was about introducing the character and developing his storyline with Chloe.

Also, I thought Chloe was a little underutilized in this episode. She wasn't in it as much as I was expecting considering this was her wedding day. Her final scene was fantastic though.

Ending was awesome, Doomsday was great [aldough, there was no fight between him & Clark, only one bitchslap].

I really hope that LEX will return, at least for season ending.

Nothing wrong with Pete gaining superpowers from Stride gum, in the Stride gum factory.

Any reason why this bitch Lana had to come back and bring the suck with her?

Look producers, we don't care about this bitch, and we don't care about the supergirl bitch either.

Anyway, the episode has been bitchin, it's on the lana part now, so i'm kinda not giving a fuck, and posting on gaf.

I hate her guts. And she brought the suck, her character isn't needed. Anyway, it could've been a truly great episode, but from the moment Lana walks in things went downhill, DoomsDay Cloverfield was ok, ending was messy.

Yeah, NOBODY hates Lana more than I do but she was tolerable here.

Now a few more episodes of her being around and I might change my mind. :\

That wasn't even what bothered me though. It was the fact that they had him come back to still act like he was in high school. They already did that plot when he was street racing with Kryptonite powered gas.

... I can't believe I just typed that sentence.

Sooo much product placement in this show it's ridiculous.
Handy for Chloe though. She gets a new car every week.

That, and Lois never would've gotten into that warehouse without that Ford Fusion she drove once to distract the guard...

Lana was already signed on to do 5 episodes for season 8 before the other producers left. Kara (Super Girl) is likely gone for good (could possibly be back as a guest sometime).

Ya know what?

I've been watching a lot of the show lately. It's first few seasons were pretty good, then it hit a lull.

Season 8 though has been fantastic so far. Hell, if the cast wants to come back for years to come I'd be fine with it.

Costume Tom Welling up for all I care. Really delve into the mythos. Update them. I'd bet they'd bring up ratings by keeping the writing quality and jumping into the character head on.

The recent budget hit though might hamper then slightly.

Just thought I would share some updates for the rest of season 8 for those interested. Spoilers will be marked with spoiler tags. First off we have this small teaser trailer:

Also a decent fan trailer:

The latest issue of SciFi magazine has some spoilers regarding the rest of season 8:

UPDATED 12/4/08: In the latest issue of SciFi Magazine, executive producer Kelly Souders has revealed some tidbits about things to come (thanks to Cheers at DI who originally brought this online):
- Chloe and Jimmy will "try to manage life" after the wedding but things will not be easy for them.
- Tess's league of super-powered villains will be let loose at some point this season. ("Injustice," anyone?)
- Souders notes that Clark's double identity will face new challenges, and that Oliver and other members of the Justice League haven't had the same struggles with developing their superhero identities, because their first identities aren't lies. For Clark, the transition is harder because Clark Kent, farmboy, is already a mask. She adds that Clark's humanity also gets in the way.
- The producers have planned two different potential arcs to end Season 8, depending on if there is another season. Regardless of when it happens, the final episode will be "either a heroic send-off or a heartbreaking decision for Clark to move on to the next phase." Souders is confident that the show could work for a ninth season. "People have been telling Superman stories for decades, so we have no doubt we can tell stories for another year," she says.
- Regarding romantic futures for Clark and Lois: "After a near-kiss with Lois, emotions and lust are flying. Their chemistry is charging ful speed ahead, but let's face it, their insecure walls are getting in the way."

Here is a partial script for the highly anticipated "Infamous" which is episode 15. This episode is about
Clark unveiling himself to the world starting with an interview with Lois.
. You can read the partial script here:

Not significant spoilers, I'll just quote:

Big Plans for Smallville

Is Tom Welling ready to hang up his Superman tights right before he gets fitted for them? Executive producer Darren Swimmer wants to keep going, now that Smallville is enjoying a ratings rebound, but reveals there are some issues with "actor availability." After 8 years playing Superboy. Tom 31, may undestandably be ready to fly off into grown-uproles.Consider Dean Cain was 27 when he began playing Superman on the 90's ABC showLois & Clark:The New Adventures of Superman, and Brandon Routh was just 26 when he took flight in 2006's"Superman Returns". (Repeated calls to Tom's reps seeking comment were not returned) The CW series has another challenge:It's starting to feel more and more like Lois & Clark, with Clark now working outside of Smallville in Metropolis at the Daily Planet alongside Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. Coming to Smallville in early February is the villianous Toyman, a flamboyantly dressed classic DC villian who played on L&C first by Sherman Hemsley(the Jeffersons)and than Grant Shaud(Murphy Brown). Despite the similarites, Swimmer argues that "there's not much of resemblance" between the two series.

While acknowledging he's prepared for a series finale,Swimmer insists there are still a few speeding bullets left to fire off in the Superman mythology."Clark's now in full control of his powers and basically accepting the fact that he's going to become Superman. The formation of the dual identity is what he's going to be negotiating from here on out," he says . "He'll start to experiment." Hmmm..bifocals?A golden lasso? New hair mousse? We'll find out in a string of three new episodes beginning in February.

Some assemblange of the Justice League will return toward of the season's end .The Legion Of Superheroes-three 31 century visitors named Cosmic Boy, Lighting Lad and Saturn Girl--arrive on January 15 when Clark faces off againest an atomic ax-wielding baddie from the future called the Presuader. But instead of an ax, the CW might consider sending the Presauder in to meet Tom with a fistful of cash. If negotiations fail for a ninth season, Swimmer suggest a Smallville spin-off starring
Phill Morris[John Jones AKA the Martian Manhunter], who next appears January 22. Cracks the producer, " A Martian Manhunter Variety Hour might be fun!"

Clark might not be able to appear in the Superman outfit in Smallville's final scene since it could conflict with the big-screen franchise, according to Swimmer

Tom Welling was also offered a small role to play a cameo in the Green Lantern movie but so far has not shown any interest in the role. Can't find the original source though, will post if I find it.

Season 8 sounds fantastic and they want to do another season but so far Tom Welling has indicated that he might not be interested in continuing on. Also Tom isn't interested in ever wearing the Superman costume. So season 9 is up in the air right now.

More spoilers for the rest of season 8 can be found here:

Nah. He'll be vulnerable to sunlight or something and Clark will KO him into orbit with one punch.

I never understood this "conflict with the franchise" crap. Is anyone going to be confused if they see Tom Welling in a Superman costume? Are people really too dumb to realize that the Smallville franchise is different than the film franchise? It's just idiotic.
