I honestly think the only 2 people Evans wouldn't want to fight for his first defense are the two people he has to choose from. Rampage and Machida. I heard A.Silva was going to fight a few more 205's but I don't honestly know anyone who can take him. Send Forrest, Liddell or Thiago if he loses because he's tired of whoopin on scrubs. Anderson won't fight Wanderlei or Machida me thinks.

awww shit. though i think forrest did a poor job of bringing rashad in. he seemed content to just try and hold his wrists, he would grab the neck occasionally, but never really pull evans in. props to rashad though, good fight
:lol

Yeah way off the mark there, Rashad was vicious on the ground tonight.

Entertaining night.

I didn't know who I wanted to win between Rampage vs Silva but I guess it's cool Rampage even the score a little. Why did Silva push him preconference? Looks like Rampage just gave him a smile.

Nog losing is depressing...another legend defeated. He didn't have any head movements besides the snapbacks Mir was giving him. To Mir's credit, he looked damn impressive and dominated that match.

I didn't mind who won between Rashad vs Griffen. All I know is, every swing Rashad took looks like a KO potential. Dude got dirty hands!

Nog looked so old ;(

Awesome blocks & counter by Quinton, beautiful highlight reel stuff.

...Rashad...is LHW champion now? Cthulhu save us.

Just watched the post fight conference and Rampage stated that he wants to beat up on Forrest first before getting his title back. Most fighters would let that go but Rampage has a score to settle. He also said he could fight Wanderlei 2 more times. I'm sure Wanderlei wants that rematch but he never beat Quinton as easily as Quinton just beat him. A right hook from guard took him down for 4 minutes. Disgusting.

I think it was the 3 punches when he was already down, that kept him down.

However it does seem like Wandy cant eat a punch like he used too. He cant be as aggressive before because he knows he can be dropped much easier now.

Yeah I almost forgot about the bombs he landed on him while he was limp. He turned a 1 minute ko into a 4 minute nap with those punches.

Did you see the look on Chuck Liddell's face after Rampage won? He looked extremely depressed lol. I honestly thought he wouldn't care who won that match. Maybe he wants someone to take Rampage out for him so he doesn't have to deal with him again. He probably feels more confident about beating Evans in a rematch than Page.

I think it's interesting to see the evolution of the game get to the point where we see more and more standup fights as alot of guys' ground games cancel each other out. Further, Rampage and especially Rashad's boxing is looking far more crisp than what you usually see (lightweights excluded). Rashad is a really smart fighter with awesome footwork. You have to go Silva, Machida and then Rashad as far as middleweights on up go. Some people say "Oh, Evans/Machida didn't do shit for x rounds, then blah blah blah." It's funny, because it's mostly bitter tears at those two ice skating around people's favorites and then coming up with the win. I honestly think Rashad and Machida cancel each other out on the ground, and cancel each other out on footwork and striking accuracy. The difference is Rashad has a one hitter quitter and Machida does not.

gah, all three fighters i wanted to win, lost. at least i picked rampage to win though...

mir... holy shit, great stand up and an awesome gameplan! he must have worked his striking like mad in training to come out like that. has he ever looked ANYWHERE NEAR as good on his feet? his plan just caught nog off guard. he was putting together solid combos, keeping the pressure on, and he wasnt going to take the fight to the ground (mir stood him up!). i still think he is by far the biggest asshole in mma, but he has my respect as a fighter.

Everytime someone loses in MMA they are washed up, can't fight anymore, have been figured out, or they should retire. Meh.

On interesting idea I would think is for Wanderlei to drop to middle weight as he isn't an especially massive light heavyweight. There is probably too much talent in the current division to contend for a title shot at LH but middle weight gives him a lot of opportunities.

Rampage's continued assault on Silva when he was obviously out cold is disgusting, no better than the Babalu’s choke for which he was fired. The ref was grabbing him yet he fired away with another 2 right hands to the dome. Dangerous and dumb as fuck yet he won’t be punished.
Mir looked great, and Nog’s looked shit since he’s been in the UFC. That guy must have a physical age of a 50 year old with all the beatings he’s taken. He should retire or he’ll regret it later in life.
Evan’s continues to impress. I’d like to see him derail Machida next. As talented as he is, he’d be the most boring champ in history.

When you get knocked the fuck out three times in your last five fights you retire.

As I said it is unlikely he will regain a belt at light heavyweight. Simply too much good competition. I don't believe he needs to retire yet but he does need to change something which is why I suggested the division change.

Well, Wanderlei wasnt punished for pushing him...whats the difference? Wanderlei wants to be an ass and do stupid shit, he SHOULD have it done to him. Lets see if he pushes him again :lol

Are you seriously trying to compare a push to 2 punches on an unconsious downed opponent after the ref has stopped the fight?:lol

Yes the push was unsporting but it's no way remotely similar.

ps- I like Rampage but that was no doubt a cuntish move on his part.

No, it was more harsh, but he had it coming. The moral to the story is dont be an asshole or you will get raped. I dont condone his actions one bit, but if you stick your hand in the fire, expect to get burned. He did something he had no business doing, he had it coming imo.

ever since the brutal KO from Mirko Cro Cop, Wanderli Silva has been a shot fighter. The guy should retire. He is finished!

Well done rampage..

Nogiuera is finished also, all the wars finally caught up with the guy. He is done...

Mir will beat Brock again!!

Mir looked completely fucking awesome.

Why is it that loads of people love the fact that lots of UFC fights are stand up rather than on the mat but they will still not watch K-1?

For the same reason people who love ground fighting haven't popularized Abu-Dahbi, Greco, Freestyle or Judo to the point where they get regualr coverage. It's the combination of all of the above that makes things so exciting. The fact that there are rarely interruptions imposed by the referee. I like up and down and all over the place battles, all done with a high level of skill.

:-\ at Rashad being a champ in the UFC.

Forrest dominated him for 11 minutes straight.

Frank Mir looked incredible though.

And what was up with all the stand-ups tonight? There was not a single worthy ground game fight.

Before it cut to chuck the first thought i had was "chuck cant be too happy right now" and then it showed him looking fustrated at Page's win. I think chuck accepts deep inside that he cant beat rampage, he hasnt got the firepower to knock him out. He knows that unless someone else puts rampage out the game, he will never be a UFC LHW title holder again.

Also does anyone know who got knockout of the night?

While Rashad can be annoying he was hardly getting his ass kicked by Forrest. The first round was close. Forrest won the second.

I expected this and if Rampage has any heart at all (and he does) he will study Griffin and knock him out in round 1 or 2 the next time they fight.

SATOSHI ISHII STARTS EXCLUSIVE NEGOTIATIONS WITH UFC

Japan's Olympic Judo Gold Medalist, Satoshi Ishii, yesterday started exclusive negotiations to enter into a contract with the UFC.

Ishii, who won the gold medal in the men's over 100-kilogram event at the Beijing Olympics, arrived in Las Vegas on Christmas day to experience UFC 92. Over the next two days, Mr. Ishii toured Las Vegas and visited various MMA gyms, including the UFC Training Center and Xtreme Couture, where he trained and sparred with Randy "The Natural" Couture.

Earlier this month, Mr. Ishii decided that he wished to start his MMA career in the United States, and that his dream was to fight in the UFC. He made his choice to negotiate with UFC last night after watching UFC 92.

"I was impressed with the training programs here in Las Vegas and the UFC event," said Mr. Ishii. "I am looking forward to working with the UFC and to developing my mixed martial arts skills."

"Satoshi Ishii has the potential to be very successful in mixed martial arts," said Dana White, UFC President. "We can't wait to start working with Mr. Ishii, we look forward to helping him with his training, his career, and his eventual debut in a professional fight."

Ishii competed as a Judo heavyweight in the Olympics this year. Whether he will attempt to compete as a heavyweight or light heavyweight has yet to be decided.

Dude called out Fedor after he won his gold. That's some balls. He needs to bulk up if he wants to take down the stronger HWs out there, but that will probably happen over the next year as he trains.

Just shows how bad the MMA scene has become in Japan. This would be unheard of 5 years ago. I guess if Dana and the UFC are still looking at promoting in Japan this makes sense. It is not enough though, UFC in Japan is just doomed to fail big style unless Dana changes his ways and decides to co-promote with other organisations. The only hope they have is co-promotion with K-1.

Def some surprises. Nothing prepared me for the Mir Nog fight. It was complete domination to the level I did not expect. Mir had his way the whole fight. I don't understand how Nog could have been so unprepared. I've never seen him fight so badly.

I don't think anyone expected the fight to go the way it did.

Vanderlay just looked defensive the whole fight. He really needs to retire while he still has some name left. He is clearly not the same fighter as he was 3-4 years ago.

He's a big guy (especially for an Asian) but I dunno if he CAN get that big. It's kinda hard to tell how big he really is, cause he's always wearing a gi.

He came to visit UFC 92 in person, and is showing tons of interest and wants to fight...

How is that doing bad?

My point is if they are planning to promote in Japan anytime soon they are doomed to fail. Satoshi Ishii is Japanese Gold Medalist so him going to the US to start an MMA career instead of staying in Japan is terrible for Japanese MMA. Japan needs new stars!

Ah, ok. That makes more sense. :lol

Good point too.

But still... Dana is American, and the UFC is based in the US. It's a bit much to expect him to move somewhere else.
As for Japanese MMA... maybe they have different laws? I dunno why it hasn't taken off, given that a zillion martial arts have originated in Asia.

well it did take off before. Pride was huge and at its peak was bigger than what the UFC was. Any athlete coming off the back of a gold medal would of been paid huge $$$ to sign with Pride. Since Pride's death it has all gone wrong.

Dana has mentioned in the past that he would like to promote shows in Japan. It will be hard for them though as they have a bad rep as they look like the US company that killed pride and they also dont have a major TV deal in Japan. Nobody really watches UFC.

He's 5'11 and 240lbs. Definitely a height disadvantage against some of the other heavyweights in UFC. He's only 22 though.

Ishii was offered a ton of money to fight in K-1. Like 5 million or something.

He is either using the UFC to get even more money from K1.. or he just wants to fight for the best org.

I don't buy that at all... they're not going to sell out the Tokyo Dome or anything off the bat but they have enough guys who are draws in Japan to have a successful show.
