The Order: 1886 has gone gold

Yeah, me too please. ;D

Nothing to see here ;)

In all seriousness, if you guys want the game spoiled for you, so be it. I know how hard it can be to turn away from a game you're interested in. I can also understand the people that go on blackout now in case of drive-by story spoilers, which is always unfortunate. Luckily, GAF is pretty good about keeping those riff-raff out.

Anyway, hope you're all looking forward to the game. Just a few more weeks... :D
I am so very looking forward to it. Its one of my most anticipated games this year.

But I've already seen the apple. No point turning back now

Now that I think about it...

if you can get new costumes/skins for The Order: 1886 by pre-ordering at select retailers, does that mean there's stuff to unlock when we finish the game a first time (like with the Uncharted games) and that those pre-order DLCs are just early access upgrades?

Also...

what makes The Order: 1886 less of a game, when ''games'' like The Walking Dead (or pretty much any other TellTale game similar to it) get a free pass? From the looks of it, The Order seems to aim for a Uncharted-style adventure game, with stuff to find and unravel... and I hope there will be puzzles too (take into account that RAD already worked on creating puzzles for the God Of War games on PSP, so it could be a possible ''neat?'' feature for The Order).

Yeah.

Are there any puzzles in this game? Anyone know? Or any type of quieter moments to break up the combat?

Can anybody send me a PM if there is anybody streaming the game now?

Same here, I don't really care about this game but I am slightly interested in it.

I'd like to see if it's pretty much just going to be a boring linear cinematic experience or something fun.

I really hope so! I'm really curious to know what incentives the game has to replay it. I'd love to have some unlockables for the 2nd playthrough.

I'm going to pre-order it. The last trailer is so refreshing! Exploration sections all over it!

And I'm out. See you all on the other side. I've been pretty busy with work anyway, but I've been keeping an eye for new Order threads just in case, now I'm officially out.

See you all on the 20th!

you can get a free theme if you click to explore all 10 of the pinboards on https://theorder.playstation.com/

only activates after 17th though

you don't have to watch the video, so you can just click explore and then close it, that's what i did because i don't wanna spoil too much

Because this kind of sensible 'Hang on, what is The Order doing that is done in other games that don't take shit for it?' reasoning pales beside QTECINEMATICINDIGNANTNOGAMEONLYSTORYRAGEPOST.

Any confirmation on how long the game is? I heard accounts that it's only about five hours if you're playing the main story to completion.

We only have shinobi's estimate which is around the same length as Drake's Fortune (8-10 hours). I don't think RAD has officially released the game's length. Also, I really doubt The Order will take 5 hours to complete unless you play in a hurry.

I think a sensible guess would be 7.5, with < 7.5 on easy/rushed, and 7.5 > when on hard/exploring/completisism

I need confirmation on that, and also if theres any replay incentives.

When does the review embargo ends?

SHinobi confirmed 8-10 hours playthrough but apparently theres somebody who completed the game in 4hrs 50 mins from the first trophy to the last trophy. Problem is we dont know how far into the game they received their first trophy and they very well could have been speed running through the game on easy. I trust Shinobi more than timestamps on some random persons trophy list.

I intend to move slowly, take my time soaking in the vistas and the atmosphere and playing with anything that's interaction. I'm quite happy if it's in the region of 8-10 hours. More than that would, however, be great. It would be awesome too if they have nice unlockables and other incentives to replay, like the Resi games do so well.

Anyone know if there is a review embargo for "The Order"?
Will reviews come out in time for me to decide whether or not to pre-order?
I guess I can pre-order at gamestop and just not pick it up if it comes to that and if I pick it up I still get the bonus hopefully.

If you ask me, calling The Walking Dead or any Telltale game, a game, has way more to do with it being the understood nomenclature to:

a) refer to the interactive experience as opposed to the TV series/comic
b) define a piece of software we download/buy on console/PC.

It does not infer that the word 'game' ever accurately describes The Walking Dead. Because there is very little 'game' about it. And I think you'd struggle to find people who'd argue with that sentiment. On top of that, they don't get a free pass, they just never marketed themselves as a game with a mechanical palette - like describing your game as a third person shooter. They were always sold as a narrative experience. And if The Order offered divergent paths or choice in The Order, it may come under even less fire. Telltale games endorse interactivity and aren't trying to tell a rigid narrative.

There's not some unjust mass here, conspiring to discredit The Order. There's merely a lot of justified skepticism, given all the developer interviews and the short snippets of gameplay we've seen.

I know and I am aware of that. Although, is it not enough to see and know that ReadyAtDawn portfolio proves that they are more than capable developers to undertake a project of this scale? Just wondering... :/ (A studio that loved and worked on Okami is always a plus for me)

Those 'under 5 hours' times are rushed as HELL, skipping fights, etc. That or perhaps review copies that could have levels unlocked. Happens sometimes w/ review copies where you can go through later parts of the game without having to play all. Or maybe those timestamps are recorded whenever those trophies are achieved?

Fights are skippable?

Yeah, not too worried

I've had a look at the trophy list of the guy who people are saying finished in under 5 hours. I'm assuming the 5 hours comes from the time between the first trophy obtained and the one for clearing the game - unless I'm reading it wrong, the first trophy he obtains is one for getting 5 headshots during the slowed down time thing. Isn't it possible that this trophy won't come for a couple of hours of playtime? It could need the right combination of enemies, maybe there aren't that many group encounters during the first part of the game.

Or maybe a dev whose played it before doing a speed run. They did just hand copies out to employees.

This is most likely what it is.

I trust in your words. So I'm a little more relieved.

Couldn't you let slip if there are really no difficulty based trophies? If you have knowledge of that.

I've made the same argument. Still, I've seen several stalwarts adamantly refuse anything and sticking to "The Order: 1886 is five hours long."

Some people seem willing to desperately hang on to any indication that this game will be bad

Im concerned the game is a corridor shooter.
Im concerned the game is nothing but visuals.
Im concerned the black borders will affect the immersion.
Im concerned the game is too short.
Im concerned there is no multiplayer.
Im concerned its nothing more than qte, qte, qte.
Im concerned they havent spoiled the game yet.
Im concerned the AI from that 3 second gif is terrible.
Im concerned............I'll just watch it on youtube teehee.

.........

Same shit, different The Order 1886 thread.
