There's a lot of people conflating the scores of this game with it's genre. People are saying that this game is only getting trashed because it's a cinematic TPS and if it was an open-world Ubisoft collectathon it would be getting praised. On the other end of the spectrum there's people saying that these scores should be a wake-up call to devs that we don't want cinematic games anymore.
Personally, I think that these reviews scores are simply evidence of The Order not being a very good game. There's totally a place for cinematic third-person shooters. TLoU was a critical darling, so clearly reviewers can appreciate the genre when it's done well. Plus, TLoU did well financially, so there's definitely a place for the genre in the eyes of consumers. The next Gears and Uncharted will probably be pretty good too. The Order just seems to be kind of weak, that's all. There's no reason this is indicative of anything more than that.
