Aside from the fight and the bit with Stewie at the end, this was pretty much trash. Letting the FG crew handle the crossover was a mistake.
Not like modern day's Simpsons staff has proven itself capable of producing high quality comedy...

See... this is why I post warnings in the OP as to which episodes will likely be good and which ones won't be good.Started watching the Simpsons again due to the marathon just to see a guest character from 23 years ago get brought back and killed. It just shits all over the classic episode. I think I'll stop watching again after this shitfest.

This isn't a matter of pre-judging them... it's a matter of knowing what this staff is capable of and knowing when they've checked out and not wanting to discourage people from checking out modern Simpsons. This was NOT the episode to come back and revisit the show after generating warm fuzzies from the marathon. 80% of modern Simpsons is garbage. But the 20% that isn't garbage is well worth watching. That's why it's important to deflect as much attention from the 80% garbage quotient that will scare people away as much as possible.
Yeah that felt like a waste. So the dog just showed up, huh?
Nice way to kill 10 minutes of show I guess.
Not a great episode overall but a bunch of clever bits.
My main issue is each segment was really cut off from the rest and it just seemed like the episode had no continuality.
That is if you are referencing the Family Guy cross over which people are talking about. As for the proper Simpsons episode, that was gastly. Miles worse then last seasons worse, I thought it was improving again but nope, had to retread an older episode and do it horribly. Krustys characterisation really needs to improve, hes been winy depressed clown with nothing else for to long, and as someone who's lost someone recently (not in the relationship which krusty has, but still close) its an improper send off to a character and a horrible characterization and resolve of those who are left.
It was really good until the chicken fight at the end. I can't stand tasteless violence.
This gets me every time lolHer legend will live on.
"Yeah, legend of the dog-faced woman."
Leave it to Roger from American Dad to have the only part in the show that made me chuckle:
"Bye! Thanks for havin' me!"
Besides that, it was about what I expected. The tone is definitely more Family Guys-leaning than Simpsons-leaning and the more violent aspects of the show definitely didn't work well in the Simpsons format.
edit: and jeez, I like don hertzfeldt, but I'd love to see a couch gag that's an actual gag and not a 4 minute long intro about nothing.
Best part was the court scene showing all the similar characters, especially James Woods hahaha
