Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
The only good implication I can draw from 'clickable sticks' is 'sticks'.
Generous.
I saw the "vouches" for John Harker, and the most definitive one I saw is "nobody questions him in the NPD thread." So we should believe him just because everyone does?
I mean, unlike most of you, I WANT the clicky sticks. I think they're great. (It only took me some serious time with Halo to get used to them, but now they never get in the way.) But that said, I still don't trust John Harker more than anyone else. Anyone could have said, "Nintendo has a killer launch lined up." He might be legit, I WANT him to be legit, but he hasn't done anything to prove himself legit. No specific predictions that came true, as far as I know. Am I wrong? What did I miss?

They're really the same thing though.
I dunno, I think people really need to try out the controller first.
clicky pads! lol..I hope sticks don't appear.
And having clickable sticks is a major turn-off for me, I HATE the damn things. I'm always clicking them in when I don't want to. If a game requires so many buttons that they need to hide some in the control sticks, then the game controls need to be redesigned.Having clickable sticks is huge for the Wii U. Nearly all modern shooters are built around being able to click the sticks for important actions (like running). So not having that would've been an instant turn off for many of the core gamers that Nintendo seems to be targeting with the Wii U.
I hope sticks don't appear.
He's been here for years, so I doubt that he'd risk a possible ban by throwing something like that out there. It's usually newer posters that will claim that they have insider sources.
I don't know him... but I don't think he's lying to us.
Why would he risk his GAF account just to trolling us? Apparently he's been around for quite some time.
At the end... we're only a month away from E3 so we'll find out sooner rather than later
so just enjoy what's coming. Bullshit or confirmations![]()

And chances are most modern shooters On Wii-U will be using remote and nunchuk, because those are superior to dual stick.
I wouldn't say so, 240Gflops from the 360 is pretty easily beat by today's GPU's, I think somewhere around 3x is the lowest they would shoot for, what is going to actually make the big difference though is that extra ram, modern full featured shaders and edram for higher resolutions.
Yeah, the long-term account is certainly a form of currency, but only if he posts a lot. I've had an account on IGN since like 2003, but I wouldn't care if it got banned, because I rarely post anything. Is he a pretty active user, or does he just do hit-and-runs like this every few months? BGassassin, for example, I trust, because he's an active user, not just a long-time user. It would pain him to be banned. If John Harker is similarly active, I'll believe him.
$10 says 90% of Wii U games for the systems' entire life run at no higher resolutions than the current gen. EG: 720p norm, only a very few exceptions running at 1080p.
I skimmed through his post history after he posted about the click-sticks, and he seems to post quite regularly. Not like Ace or BurntPork regular, but enough for me to trust his claims.

I think they should do a Pokemon MMO.
The only thing I hope is that it is comfortable, and Nintendo has never made an uncomfortable controller (Not counting handhelds), so I'm not too worried with whether or not they use pads or sticks.
For the record, I love the 3DS slide pad.
(Ignoring the fact that I find sticks generally counter-intuitive).

I wouldn't take that bet, I'm in totally agreement there. In fact, I'd rather see more gorgeous environments rendered at 720p/1080i than 1080p with sacrifices. Also, selfishly, because my TV doesn't do 1080pBut I think a lot of HDTV owners are the same way. Maybe for 1 screen stuff like pinball or "simple" games, but I just see framerate being sacrificed otherwise.
Those few exceptions will most likely be all first party titles. I don't have a problem with this.
I agree 100%, but that is not because of the power of the system, it's because of devs priorities, I think the same thing will be true with the Xbox720 and PS4 for that matter.
Still what I'm saying isn't out there really, it would still be a fairly weak GPU, even 4x a 360's GPU would make it weaker than a HD4850
You're on!
Wanna do a double-or-nothing that you're not getting analog sticks on the pad, too?
Do you predict the new Xbox or PlayStation systems using 1080p as the norm? Or do you think they'll focus more on other big visual effects at 720p?
Really? I fully expect that most third party devs will only use the standard controllers. Especially for shooters because of the online issues with having two completely different control schemes.
Even then I expect only the simpler games to run at native 1080p. Bigger, more complex games like Zelda and co I expect at 720p,
On wii-U remote/nunchuk *are* standard controllers. I mean, over 95 million households already have remote/nunchuks and are used to using them. And as they are closer to the mouse/keyboard combo, hardcore gamers are going to want to use them instead of dual-stick.Really? I dunno. I still don't think, even on paper, the Wii U will be pushing 4x+ performance compared to the 360's GPU. But I'm a cynical ass.

How have you been dealing with playing games up until this point? PC?

It will differ between developers. I think you'll see much more 1080p games, but I think you'll also see a lot of developers forgoing high resolutions in favour of better looking games.
You'll get your battle sim/RPG and like it.

I guess we'll have to disagree there. I don't think that the average CoD or BF player will want to use the Wiimote over the dual analog-style that they've been using for years now. They're going to want something that they're instantly comfortable with. And these games are going to be ports of PS3 and 360 games, so they'll already be designed for the dual analog scheme. They'd have to redesign the control scheme just for the Wii U, and I question how many third party devs will actually want to do that.
