All aboard the non-hype train
Time to hand in your Nintendo Fan membership card.
All aboard the non-hype train
No expectations here, I'm a blank slate. I'll just go in and see what happens. It's been my E3 strategy for years. This does seem to be the reverse hype-train week.
But maybe, its one of those your expectations hit rock bottom scenarios, and then next week can't disappoint.
Don't take my card! NOT LIKE THISTime to hand in your Nintendo Fan membership card.
And here comes the panicking.
Jesus people. One more week. One more week. Then we will see what is going on.
Wii couldn't even get versions of PSP Assassin's Creed games.Thankfully they were able to get Assassins Creed 3. Although Ubisoft will port their games on any system so that isn't too unexpected.
I honsetly think that all the silence about third party games seems every day more related to the absolute void of third party support.
Not only wwe had just one game officially announced from last E3 (AC3), but we are also losing the few ones already announced (Metro), and getting a lot of negative tips for a lot of other games (Darksiders probably just a lazy and late port, no UE4 that means losing a wide range of third party games that will be based on that and so on...)

lol thank you for reminding me of this.I love how Ace KNEW the Nintendo Power June cover was James Bond Legends. He even stated it as a fact a few times. :lol I wish I could rub it in to him now....

Nintendo needs to money hat Cave in some way.
...cause Cave really needs the money
After how abysmal Ninja Gaiden 3 did in sales and reviews for 360/PS3, I wouldn't be surprised if Team Ninja/Tecmo cancelled Ninja Gaiden 3 for Wii U.
I mean honestly who would buy the game?
so hyped died during lunch?
hmmm tomorrow then?
This is NeoGaf.

Don't take my card! NOT LIKE THIS
Hayashi himself said that the sales werent as good as they had hoped for:Where are people getting this from? Seriously.
Not to mention the game, for the most part, runs on re-used assets. Had to have been pretty profitable for TK, and I can't imagine them being displeased with it.

Hey! I would be interested! Where do I sign? (even without the prize, just to fun of playing Bingo with all of you will be enough)Guys, I want to have contest during the press conference. I virtual version of BINGO. Grand prize will be money down towards a Wii U pre-order, plus 5 runner up prizes.
How it would work is that all the participants will be sent PDF files containing three randomly generated BINGO cards. The squares will be filled in with Games, People and Wii U Features that could be revealed during the press event. As they watch, players check off the items on their cards as they are revealed. When you get a whole row filled in one of the cards, you type in "Bingo!" in the thread on GAF. Alternatively, I might set up an email account to do the same for people who are banned or don't plan to have a computer in front of them.
What do you guys think? It seems like a fun way to get hyped for the event, but I would need a little help with organizing and judging the results (for the subjective calls).

Hayashi himself said that the sales werent as good as they had hoped for.
"Either way, he hopes it proves more successful than Dead Or Alive Dimensions, which he admitted didnt sell as well as Tecmo Koei had hoped.
"We believe we squeezed pretty much all of the horsepower out of the 3DS that we could have, really," he said. "In the performance sense we believe it was a great title. We hoped people would be playing more portable consoles out there but unfortunately that wasn't the case.""

We're less than a week away from Nintendo's E3 briefing.
I swear by god: everytime I read through the thread titles in Gaming and if the first word of one of them is "Rumor:" I become this dude
Such an exciting time to be a gamer right now

I dont know what was said in the earing report, but maybe Hayashi's words are more about sales expectations, not that the game wasnt profitable. For example, if the next Mario Kart games sells 3 million copies, it will definitelly be profitable for Nintendo, but it would be a big disappointment regarding sales expectations.Well, that's certainly odd. It's in direct contrast with what's stated in their earnings release.

I want Raven Blade and Donkey Kong Racing back.I always thought the GameCube video reel at E3 2001 was very epic.

If Wii U has the diversity in its lineup like this Gamecube video, then it will be amazing
What was said in the earning report? That can't be it; the statement was definitely about sales, not the profitability of the title.
I love this gif! and yeah, this is probably the craziest pre-e3 yet.
What was said in the earning report?
In its six month midterm results, announced on the 7th, Koei Tecmo Holdings reported sales of 13,635 million yen and a net profit of 412 million yen. These were up from May 9 forecasts of 12,500 million yen and a net loss of 400 million yen.
Dead or Alive Dimensions on 3DS sold 310,000 units worldwide while Dynasty Warriors 7 Xtreme Legends sold 160,000 units in Japan on PS3. These along with Samurai Warriors 3 Empires performed well, and the company also made note of strong download content sales for games like Dynasty Warriors 7. Paid content for social games like One Million Person Ambition of Nobunaga and One Million Person Sangokushi also performed well.

The Wii U "officially" will not run UE4, this is no surprise to anyone here. (I said as much) An official confirmation of sorts from Geoff Keighley, via twitter, courtesy of Nirolak at Neo-Gaf: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=475868 I said that it was a transitional console, I didn't mince words. This term was meant to clearly deliniate the Wii U as beyond this console generation's visual & feature set capabilities, though not occupying the same technical power space as the Orbis & Durango.
I view this as a non-issue however, the Wii U is capable of more than what the Unreal 3 engine provides. (on current gen. systems) Gearbox's Wii U version of Aliens:CM should show this within the framework of UE3 cross-platform development.(esp.within their custom lighting engine) 4A Games' Metro:LL should follow suit as well on their proprietary engine. (some programmers over there are extremely gifted, & want to push the technical envelope even further) Proprietary Wii U engines will showcase this best however, as specific toolkits & feature sets are created to exploit the console's strengths. Expect more than just Retro's offering to truly impress at E3. Nintendo has made some very strong 3rd party partnerships for both cross, as well as console exclusive software.(even contacturally in some instances) This will not change once UE4 becomes widely accessible to developers. A repeat of the Wii's software demise is not in the cards I assure you. This also assumes that UE4 becomes the de facto middleware solution for the next generation.
Most developers will be utilizing Unreal 3 as a base early on regardless of Orbis's & Durango's ability to run UE4. As I posted earlier, MS's Durango's now going "all in" with UE4 as of the GDC. Prior to the GDC the Durango wasn't compatible either. In any case, do you truly believe that UE4 won't be scalabe to an extent? Frostbite, Cryengine, etc certainty are. From purely an economic viewpoint, this scenario makes no sense.
Thanks Yeah, Hayashi speaking about Japan only is a possibility. That definitely sounds like it met expectations to me. Maybe he was talking about Japan specifically, since it didn't do well there, it seems.

Do we have a source for this quote? Does a very good job of hype-building if true.
