Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Microsoft had Usher, so that means that Ravi Drums needs to return today for the hour long presentation on Wii Music 2.

GAF wouldn't be the only thing melting down. My remote would be through the television screen.

I actually would not mind a Wii Music 2 as long as they are clear about what really is. A music manipulator. That's what Wii Music was and they weren't clear/honest about that. Let people upload mp3s and some fun could be had rearranging songs and turning them into something different. When you look at what Wii Music really is some fun can be had with it. Not something you'd play everyday though.

They have already said that SmartGlass made WiiU obsolete. :lol

Gaming "journalism" at its finest. They aren't even supposed to serve the same purpose.

I don't watch G4, though, as it's equivalent to getting a minor lobotomy.

Since the next console Zelda is probably 3 years away I would love for them to update Majora's Mask into a HD version for WiiU. One of the most overlooked and underrated games of all time.

I would go nuts if something like that was available at launch!

Yeah, this is why that video makes some sense... also if you really look at the graphics in that game, easily should be doable on Wii U's hardware based on last years demos, it isn't over the top in any way.

It is my favorite zelda, but yeah with E3 2 hours away, I really don't care about a rumor, I'm just enjoying the video for what it is.

Also, Morgan Webb will be standing by on G4 ready to criticize anything and everything Nintendo announces! Tune in right after the conference!

Spot on. It's funny that for the first time, TWO channels are carrying the Nintendo conference and G4 isn't one of them.

Just a confirmation about the massive NDA surrounding pretty much everything related to Wii U since one year. A contact who is working in a little indie studio, on a digitally distributed game, wasn't able to told me since a moment now if they developed on Wii U. If indie games are under this NDA, i imagine what other content Nintendo kept secret from other third-parties. The inconsistency of the non-disclosure agreement is weird though as we've reported other downloadable games being announced in this thread, since one year.

And considering the scale of the title, i don't expect it to be presented during the conference, or perhaps in a sizzle-reel dedicated to the Wii U eShop.

Simply put, there is a strong curtain applied to 90% of the stuff prepared by third-parties on Wii U until the conference so:
1 - Ports aside, there's a lot of chances there will be surprises from foreign studios, a good bunch of them on the eShop
2 - As the conference is short, there are tons of things we won't see until later software presentation, and especially showfloor hands-on.

The only time I ever had fun with Wii Music was a night where I was absolutely trashed with my roommate. I hardly remember anything about that evening, which is probably I think I had fun with Wii Music. The only thing that helps me remember that night is the dreadful renditions of songs on the game that we recorded and discovered the next morning.

Great! I didn't oversleep and miss the conference. On the other hand, I woke up too early and now I've got two more hours of waiting :(

I just want nintendo to use the extra horse power in the Wiiu to bring about some originality to this e3. Almost every AAA title at the conferences so far look like a copy paste job with a different premise/theme.

Does anyone suspect the anti-hype from yesterday could potentially damage Nintendo today?

I look across at the gaming forum and there is a LOT of negative feeling towards the industry in general right now. A feeling replicated by plenty of the gaming press, who feel like the industry is creatively void right now following on from Microsoft, Sony and EA's conferences.

But what does this negative vibe mean for Nintendo? Does it position them in a place where they can blow people away with new experiences and bright, colourful games that aren't just another shooting gallery? Can they "win" E3 with games like Pikmin? Or will a possible reliance on "the usual suspect" franchises and more Mario games fuel what is already being said of the industry following on from yesterday?

Just a devils advocate sort of question, really. I have no agenda either way (although I hope the former is true!) but I'm curious what sort of state the general mood of E3 is in right now.

It depends. If they have a great conference then it should work in Nintendo's favour, the position of savior (come on ED2) of this year's E3 is there for them to grab. I really think that the emphasis that Nintendo places on great and innovative gameplay could be the ideal antidote to the malaise the industry is perceived by many to be drowning in.

I'm still expecting a great conference, but a seed of doubt has been sown by the fact that Zombi U was chosen as the third party game to incorporate into Nintendo Direct, given how below par the visuals appear to be. If it turns out to be as bad as it appears, then those desperately and irrationally looking for Nintendo to fall flat on their faces will have a field day. I'll be getting the console day one for Nintendo games regardless of the showing today, but it would be nice to get good third party support beyond a slew of ports.

Even though my hype is at an all time low right now, that's probably a good thing. I expect to feel the exact opposite in a few short hours.

Nintendo is really damned if they do and dman if they don't when it comes to their IPs.

MMHD would be hype but then you'd get the whole...their best game is a remake lol posts.

If they do nothing but bring new editions of their million dollar sellers, people will be mad that they are just "rehashing"...

BUT if they don't have a Mario or Zelda...dudes would mark out and get mad too.

Like I said in another thread...

3-4 1st party games (Pikmin 3 is counted and NSMBM is the obvious 4th title) and 1 non Ubisoft 3rd party exclusive...would be enough for me.

I mean I will buy this thing eventually...my gaming/Nintendo whore tendencies will make it so but i hope Nintendo blows things up today.

But hey atleast they won't have books.....

OR WILL THEY?!?!?!

We're almost there guys and gals. You all took the WUST beyond what I imagined it would be. All I expected was to make a thread that would be a receptacle for Wii U news bits to keep Gaming-Age from being cluttered up. It was my personal goal to try and bring up things worth discussing and find info to hold us over till we got to this point. I hope you feel that I accomplished my goals, and if you don't, well I tried. I think we're in for a real treat today and I hope Nintendo can pull off an entertaining hour for us.

Wow this thread moves fast.

I've always wondered though, why is the roundtable very late? I mean, will they be still up at that time? It will be out at 2pm here which is from what I heard, roughly 11:30pm or so in PST.

I've heard it's an FPS; the person I've heard it from leaks NPD data regularly, so it may be true; but well, never should underestimate Nintendo when it comes to keeping secrets hidden

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hype deflated

2 more hours.. Hope Nintendo delivers, I'm ready for a new console.
We come to it at last. The great conference of our time.

Will this thread be renamed "discussion thread" after Nintendo unfolds the Wii U's secrets? Sure, launch date and pricing will probably not be announced during E3, and while those are pretty big factors they do not account for a whole thread of speculation. That's what I think anyway.

Just the idea that we'll be getting an entire hour straight of games is exciting, especially most games we know nothing about. This could be an amazing show.

Then again, it could be entirely deflating.

I hope Wii U gets digital Gamecube/Wii games. There are so many games I would buy. Also, I hope we find out if we'll be able to transfer virtual console games over. I've spent so much money on there and I'd hate for them to be stuck there.

Name it now.

What Zelda title do you want to see at e3?

Can only pick 1.

I think the most I'd like to see is a Link to the Past remake.

Well said. The threads have been a fun ride, and gave us all an outlet for the last few months.

Let's have fun today, and hope the servers can take it!

Ugh I hope not.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Retro's game would be a third person action/shooter game.

Levels of hype are rising at an alarming rate. Damn you Nintendo for making me so hyped about the WiiU, i've lost many productive hours reading these threads, it's been a great ride.

I really hope they blow us away today, and i am pretty confident they will.

If those in the gaming media are disappointed they only have themselves to blame. For years they were the ones constantly praising shooter after shooter. Dismissing anything else that was possibly colorful and not over the top violent as casual and not for the "core" or "mature" gamer, aka the real gamer. They help feed into the metacritic problem. Now that the industry is the way it is they want to be upset!? No! They helped create this problem they are having issues. They used their position and influence to cause this problem by directing people as to which games and genres were the ones people should be buying.
