I assumed, that he cleaned it out already since he was trying to get the prisoner out. If there were still an enemy, he would've seeked his fall, would he not?

He obviously hasn't cleaned out the question mark since the question mark was the prisoner in a cage.

What difficulty should I play GAF?
The one you're comfortable with. You can change the difficulty at any time, so if it's to your liking you can start of on the harshest and wiggle it down if it's unpleasant. Some folk is talking about the second harshest as a demanding, but fair one.

I see. I didn't know prisoners had their own symbols. Only cleared out a camp with a prisoner once and can't remember any else than the bandit camp symbol. I don't know much about the questionmarks though, since I play without undiscovered POIs, so I just do things as I come along.

It's the last game of Geralt, not the last Witcher game. We may get more Witcher games with other protagonists. Not nearly through with the game yet, but I have high hopes of Ciri taking the reigns.

Ah ok. Still kind of glad to see Geralt go even if Ciri would make an awesome replacement. I never cared for him in the second game but I feel like I've got to know the character a lot better this time. I'd love a prequel or something too that covers some of his and Yennifer's history since it's apparently absent from the first game too.

played the previous games?

best difficulty seems to be blood and broken bones, but start on whatever you feel since you can just change mid-game

Oh awesome. I haven't played any Witcher games before, but I think I'll go with the one you mentioned. I was just wondering if it was similar to Halo in that Normal is a joke and Heroic is the "actual" correct difficulty level.

Eh... I think normal is not very difficult at all.

If you aren't achievement-minded, you can change difficulty at any time.

Yeah, I don't care about that stuff!

I'm playing on Normal and it's giving me a tough time. Fighting mobs is still a bit of a crapshoot, I get hit way more than I want to.

I just skipped a cut scene in which you wait till midnight for
the ghost of Bloody Baron's aborted fetus to show up
and although time is 12:03AM, the sky is bright, people are walking around as if it was a day. Nasty bug.

I think I just ran into a progress-killing bug. Thank god I had a different save profile to use.

(Novigrad Story Spoiler)
When you're looking for Whoreson Junior and go to his Casino the game bugs and doesn't give you completion when you search around. So I left and figured I would come back, but the door was locked and there was no way to enter.

I'm really enjoying it, but I'm in the second area, Noven maybe?, and I have no food, and I can't find any merchants. My health is at 5%, and I'm playing on Hard,so my health doesn't regen while meditating. I just feel like I'm playing this....wrong.

Do I need to backtrack to the opening area to buy health items? Cuz the guy at the 2nd Inn just has a little water to sell.

I'm confused.

I know people have already replied but here's the easiest things to do.

Collect foodstuffs. If you find bees look for the hive as its usually near by on a tree. Use Igni to kill the bees and burn the hive off the tree. You'll be able to collect honeycombs.
You can get raw meat from killing animals whether it's the aggressive ones like dogs and wolves or whether it's the non hostile ones like deer. You can kill most of the non hostile ones easily with Igni. Raw meat heals quite well.
Water and other drinks also boost health. Try to build up a decent supply.

Brew the Swallow potion. You only need the ingredients once. After that you can replenish all your potions etc when you meditate providing you have hard alcohol in your inventory (Eg. Dwarven Spirits and Alcholest).

Buy or find the Saddlebags asap as they greatly improve your carrying capacity.

Oh man, I hope there's a way you can dump both Triss and Yennefer and just hang out with (early Velen spoilers)
Keira Metz
. Her banter with Geralt is awesome.

YES!, thank you very much. This saves me hours of grinding for herbs and randomly looting houses. There's a bear side quest in some part of the world that gives you a pass into Novigrad. I look forward to exploiting the shit out of this later.

Does Saskia make an appearance in this game? Is Triss still around if I choose the other option?

Wound up spending another two hours in White Orchard completing all of the side quests and looting the houses. Ended up with 400+ crowns and a 14 hour play time. Also got the Butcher of Blaviken trophy at the bar by killing five bandits in four seconds.

Is there an ending to that Baron's side quest that allows me loot the village? I'm taking the less evil route the one with the less shitty ending.

Gawt dayum this game is great looking. Seeing my first sunset. Skybox is incredible. Tons of color and detail in the Sky. Love that.

Finally figured out the right analog position to slowly pan without that odd stutter

Practicing combat on these wolves and wargs around white orchard. I turned the mini map off.

If I have to choose between Yennifer or Triss then I'm going to fucking lose my fucking mind

I believe there's a merchant just outside the Novigrad walls who sells them. Forgot his name but you come across him during the main quest.

Good to know. I just found one being sold by the blacksmith at Midscope, of course now I gotta find a blacksmith proficient enough to craft the thing >_>

Any tips on the (Novigrad sidequest spoiler)
vampire during Now or Never
.
Seems impossible due to it restoring health all the time.

How is the difficulty and saving? I'm getting frustrated with 2; I'll complete a thing or two and then randomly run into a few Nekker and I'm dead. Left to repeat it all over again.

Nearly explored the whole of Velen then I will start doing the quests. So many more places then just the question marks.

Epic battle. Downed two ghost-things, running to get my bearings and heal as the fight neared a pack of bandits. As I am lining the killing blow on the final bandit I decide to dodge one last time - right off a fucking cliff.

Anyways, is there an option to respec? I think I invested three points into something I'm never going to use again.

Quick question on crafting legendary witcher equipment.

I finished the quest for the Venom Witchers' equipment, but haven't found a blacksmith yet that will craft it. I know a tooltip said one was in Velen, but damned if I know where.

I want to play as Ciri.
Stop wanting.
Because, well, yes, you can and you do in the game. But maybe you mean as main protagonist. In that case keep in mind that CDPR said that this would be the last Geralt of Rivia game, but not the last Witcher game. So there is hope. Lots and lots of hope.

The dwarf at the baron's keep is pretty nifty. Albeit I heard of an even greater smithy on the islands.

Is it wise to loot a treasure guarded by monsters that very overleveled for me? I don't want the game to scale down a legendary weapon or something.

Is there a recommended way to approach when to pause from doing main quests and instead do all the little side quests etc? Just arrived in Midcopse, having ridden past lots of other small towns etc and random yellow quest exclamation marks on the way here...

Is it best to ignore these distractions and notice boards etc along the way for now... or should I be stopping at them all and doing them there and then?

Bit overwhelmed.

I just pick them up whenever I pass a notice board, many of them are are above your level anyway so better to pick what you can / want to do from the journal since it shows the recommended level.
